I don't think Stevens is a realistic possibility, at least not right now, but I think Donovan is more realistic. His team is meh right now and if Westbrook leaves then they'll be very bad. The situation he's in now isn't the one he thought he was leaving Florida for. It's still a long shot, but I think the chance is there.

Are people saying that he would transfer to follow Crean wherever he ends up, or that he would transfer to wherever to 'get back at us' for getting rid of Crean?
-
I find it kind of strange that that's the case instead of the other way around. I get being loyal to a guy who stayed loyal to you, but it would be much better for his career if he could develop at IU without Crean.

Experimental Rules for the 2017 NIT

Probably. It seems unnecessary to me but there are probably $$ reasons for it. -

I really hope they don't make a move to four 10 minute quarters. I think having two halves is part of what makes college basketball unique. -
No idea. I just saw in the Fire Crean thread "Per Dakich, Glass was not at the game yesterday."
-
How common is it for an AD to miss a home basketball game? I'm sure there's an explanation for Glass not being there yesterday but I was wondering if hes usually always there.
-
I doubt he actually believes the things he says. He's a professional troll, basically. He knows what will get him an audience, and supporting Crean today will bring in a ton of listeners.

IU basketball since 2011. 2 big ten championships and 7 years of not finishing higher than 5th since he got here. The national guys saying "but he won the conference last year" don't get that we want him gone because of the instability of his program. 2011: 11th2012: 5th2013: 1st2014: T8th2015: 7th2016: 1st2017: 10th (proj)

If I had acted like him during games when I was a little kid I probably would've been grounded before I could fasten my seatbelt for the ride home. If Crean was serious about wanting Bryant to be a leader he would've stopped his antics a long time ago.
-
Crean will put Blackmon on blast but won't say a word about Bryant crying like a toddler whenever the mean old refs make a call against him. Inconsistent criticism is a great way to turn your guys against you. "Thomas is really trying to lead the team, and he’s not getting a lot of help." If your 'leader' behaves the way he does on the court then there's your problem.

Normally I wouldn't want a player saying something like this, but in this situation I have no problem with it if his tweet really was directed at Crean. Crean threw a bunch of kids under the bus to try and save his own skin. I'm cool with kids firing back at him for it.

No way of telling whether Green's tweet was about Crean, but he has to know that's what people are going to think when he tweets something like that a few hours after his coach calls his team the most immature he's ever coached. My guess is that it's one of those "no of course it's not about him" *winks* subtweets. I'd put money down on one of him and Crean not being back next year.

That's true.. The fact he expected a guy who averaged 6 points on 38% shooting at Pittsburgh to replace someone like Yogi is a testament to his recruiting abilities. And now that it's not working out he's too stubborn to admit he was wrong and try something else.
-
No offense to him, but I think that post is crap. We still have more talent on the roster than most teams we play. We have 2 McDonald's All Americans and some high 4 stars. If it was true that we don't have talent then that's on Crean. He picks these guys and he's supposedly a 'great recruiter'. Yogi was a senior. Crean knew he was leaving and didn't have a replacement lined up. That's on him. The fact they play without heart is a reflection of the coach leading them. Again, that's on him. It seems like the Crean defenders still don't want to put any of the blame on him. I don't know what it is about Crean that has them so enamoured.

I'm perfectly fine with us dumping more money into the football program. If we can get to where we consistently win 7-8 games a year that'd be great. It's when you get to the other sports that I'm not really on board. If Glass can get the basketball and football programs to where they need to be then I'm fine with him moving on to the other sports. Until then he needs to focus on basketball and football, imo. Those are the important ones.
-
I really hope Davis stays next season. As a former post player with limited athleticism I like watching him play. I won't blame him if he leaves though. Our last 3 big guys have shown that post players are about as good when they leave IU as they were when they first showed up.
-
Basketball is what makes IU though.. We have a brand that is rivaled by very few in college sports. More people probably show up to watch the basketball team practice at Hoosier Hysteria than stay past halftime to watch the football team for some games. We're never going to be an Ohio State or an Alabama in football, but we can be their equivalent in basketball. I think it would be a mistake to put basketball on the back burner to embrace the '24 sports/1 team' motto.
-
For me personally I don't care how well he does with sports outside of basketball and football. Those are the only two sports that make IU a profit, and those are the sports that make or break the majority of D1 athletic programs. I get that his job is to look after all 24 sports, but if he keeps putting the product we've seen from the basketball team this year onto the court he won't be here very long, or at least he shouldn't be. I'm indifferent to him right now. I didn't like his handling of Wilson's situation, but it was something he probably had to do. If he screws up the basketball coaching situation though, he has to go, imo.
-
The sad thing is I think we'd get the same result from either tanking or playing as hard as we can.
-
Katz saying we've been "crushed" by injuries is a big exaggeration, imo. We had lost 4 of our last 6 before OG went down. I don't think we're 15-11 at this point if he never gets injured, but we sucked when we did have him. Not having Hartman all year obviously hurts, but I have a hard time including him as a part of the injury excuse. We beat both Kansas and North Carolina with Hartman in street clothes. IU isn't the only team that has dealt with injuries. Other coaches just find ways to adjust to them, and many of them don't have the talent on the court that we still have after injuries.
-
He feels trapped in a corner and now he's lashing out. The "he's a great guy" schtick is one of the few positive things he has going at this point. If he makes a jerk of himself he makes it even easier for people to want him gone. Let it out Coach, let it out.
-
Oh wow lmao, they actually are delusional then. I thought at this point the only people left on his side were the ones who need to stay in the program's good graces.
