  1. Allen’s just not a good coach.
  2. If anyone has a video of the fall it should be relatively easy to figure out which wrist/hand it was. I tried looking for a video of it but couldn’t find one.
  3. I'm just a big Lander fan. I think he's going to be a special college player, and I want it to be at IU. Guards are so important in college basketball. A trio of Lander, Bates, JHS next year would give us three 5 star guards. I can't remember the last time IU had that. Lander isn't nearly as good of a defender as Phinisee, but I think he looks stronger out there than he did last year/in the Bahamas. I'd like to see him get a lot more playing time during the cupcake portion of the schedule to help him continue adjusting to defending in college. You can't really replicate that game speed/feeling during practice. He picked up two fouls almost immediately last night but I felt like he did a great job keeping his composure in a pretty stressful part of the game.
  4. If he was only playing spot minutes I wouldn’t hate it as much, but he’s playing 20 mpg. He would’ve played way more than 18 minutes last night if he hadn’t injured his calf (at least that’s the reason Woody gave for him coming out). Last night really showed how important Xavier is to the team. There will be nights like last night where he’s in foul trouble and we need a backup pg to step up. I’d love to be wrong about Rob, but I don’t think he’s the guy who can fill that role. That’s definitely my biggest concern with the team. Our front court is great. Race and TJD have been outstanding. However, the guard play as a whole has been underwhelming.
  5. I don’t know why people assume Archie was the reason Rob played the way he played when Archie regularly yelled at him during games to play at a higher pace. It seems more likely that that’s just the way Rob plays, because he’s doing the exact same things under Woody that he did under Archie. Through three games we’re shooting 27.7% from 3. That’s not good enough. Rob doesn’t help our 3 point struggles. He’s a bad shooter. He also isn’t a good facilitator. He can’t create for others. That results in playing a 6’1 point guard who can’t score, shoot, or create easy baskets for others. Perhaps you think his defense makes up for his total lack of offense, but I disagree with that. Team defense is more important in basketball than individual defense, especially when we’re not talking about a rim protecting big. You can scheme around a bad defender and hide him. There’s no hiding a bad offensive player, particularly a bad offensive guard. Their defender saga off and clogs the lane.
  6. Rob’s shots don’t ever fall. He’s a career 35.7% from the field, 29.5% from 3, and 66.7% from the free throw line. That’s across 89 games. He only shoots 0.6% better from the line than TJD. He’s even worse in conference play. In 56 career Big Ten games, he’s a career 34.8% from the field, 27.5% from 3, and 67.5% from the free throw line. There’s really no reason to expect his offense to be better than it has been in his extensive IU career. He’s a senior who is no better offensively now than he was when he was a freshman. Last night was yet another game where he gave us 0 points.
  7. I know it’s easy to put the blame on Archie in this situation, but I’m not so sure that Archie is the reason Phinisee plays the way he does. Archie would regularly yell at Rob to hurry up and move faster, but Rob would still walk it up the court.
  8. I thought Lander did well too. He committed 0 turnovers and didn’t stand around pounding the ball into the ground. He went from not playing at all against EMU to playing crunch time minutes against a solid team, and he did just fine. One bad defensive possession where he picked up back to back fouls. We need a backup point guard because Xavier isn’t going to play 40 minutes a game. Phinisee is just as bad on offense as he was last year. He can’t score, and he can’t create for others. The offense sputters when he’s out there. He’s been the same player for years now, and he makes freshman mistakes as a senior. I’d rather Lander get those minutes in the non conference in the hope that he will be ready to fill that role come conference play. Hes going to be a great college basketball player one day. I just hope that he sticks with IU and we don’t have to watch him succeed somewhere else.
  9. ‘Sloppy seconds’ is a vulgar chant now? Lol. It’s all in good fun. I loved it. It never would’ve happened if St John’s hadn’t tried trolling online before the game. It would’ve been malpractice by the student section if they hadn’t ran with it.
  10. Zero turnovers for Lander handling the full court pressure.
  11. Phinisee’s a senior and Lander is a freshman. Phinisee hasn’t gotten any better than he was as a freshman (and probably has gotten worse). I don’t see any reason to expect him to get any better. Lander, on the other hand, could be the point guard of the future. The team isn’t any worse with Lander out there, so no reason not to play him.
  12. Lander should get Phinisee’s minutes.
  13. If anything happens to Xavier this season we’re absolutely screwed. We don’t have anyone to fill his role.
  14. Idk but I’d like to see what he can do against a legitimate opponent. Phinisee is just not it and if he’s the best we can do then yikes.
  15. He dribbles the air out of the ball for 15+ seconds a possession, turns the ball over too much, and can’t make shots. His defense is good but the team defense was fine before he came into the game tonight. I’d rather not play 4 on 5 on offense, and that’s what we do when he’s in the game.
  16. I’d rather see literally any other guard on our team play. You can’t be playing a guard who’s that bad at offense for that many minutes.
  17. Phinisee is an absolute mess.
  18. Phinisee has really sucked tonight. Looking like last year.
  19. I love Bates talking mad s***
  20. Best student section in the country lol #sloppyseconds
  21. I do find it interesting that Banchero was arrested too and that it was his car. A sober person letting their drunk friend drive their car while they sit in the back doesn’t seem likely to me. Imo, the most likely scenario is that Banchero was more intoxicated than Coach K’s grandson so they decided he’d drive the car. But, who knows.
  22. Maybe the grandson was the fall guy? (hi Cris Carter)
  23. I definitely wouldn’t buy from the IU athletics site unless you hate your bank account. The same caliber of ticket IU is selling for $48 a piece for the St. John’s game can be had for $6 on stubhub. Edit: just saw that you wanted Jackson State tickets. IU will sell you four tickets in row 42 for $202. You can get four row 41 tickets for $80 on stubhub.
