What a disaster of a season. -

I would imagine fans of other schools see their clown show and laugh at us because of it. It’s embarrassing. I want IU to be a cool program. I want IU to be on par with Duke, UNC, UK, etc. I can’t imagine those schools teaming up with people like the HH guys. They have standards. We seemingly don’t. -

He’s certainly in a tough position. Our entire team is a disaster. I haven’t seen anything solid from him tonight, though. We’re down three scores, we’re playing a walk-on running back, yet we’re running the ball almost every down. That tells me the staff doesn’t trust McCulley throwing the ball. And honestly, I can’t say I completely blame them. He needs a lot of work in that department. -

Need to look hard at the portal for a quarterback. Not sure McCulley is it, though in fairness to him he was never in the plan for this season. Regardless, you can’t rely on Penix and Tuttle isn’t good either. Went from thinking it was a big advantage to it being one of our biggest weaknesses. -

How many times are we going to do a third down quarterback draw? -

Yeah, we struggle to fill up Assembly Hall unless we’re playing Purdue or another highly ranked team. Even then it’s not like it used to be. No real reason to expect events like this or HH to bring big crowds. A 5 year tournament drought will do that. -

Preferably better and Hoosier Hysteric-less. I lived in Briscoe Quad back when the players still lived there and never saw anyone as thirsty for attention from iubb players as these two middle-aged men. -

Really don’t think Michigan is that great. This should be a winnable game. -

Pretty underwhelming crowd, imo. Sam Story was right for once. -
Sucks watching Purdue have the season we all thought we’d have.

Cincinnati doesn’t belong in the playoff and nothing will convince me otherwise. Does anyone actually think they’re one of the four best teams in the country? They’d have 2-3 losses playing a Big Ten East schedule. Instead, they get to rack up underwhelming wins against AAC teams.

Some people love them, I can’t stand them. I’ve never seen two people try so hard to look cool but fail so miserably. They’re major clout chasers and I could absolutely see them behaving the way the band member alleged. We’re Indiana basketball. If they’re the best we can do in the NIL environment… Big yikes. -

The Hoosier Hysterics guys are not great. Why the program likes them so much is beyond me. Every single video of them makes me cringe, and apparently they’re jerks on top of it all. The dorks claim they were ‘joking around,’ but this looks like another example of them lacking social cues and creating uncomfortable situations for no reason. -

Well, the Hysterics’ first big event isn’t looking so good. They’re copying Hoosier Hysteria to the T by including a ‘last second scrimmage cancellation’ component. At least they didn’t wait until after everyone showed up to announce that, though. Maybe it’s something entirely unexpected that was completely out of their control, but the calendar hasn’t changed. They've known the event was three days before the first game since they picked that date. It was never a good idea for them to throw something together last second and have it take place right before the first game. -

Nothing on mycase. I don’t know how quickly that system is updated but if he was arrested it would show up there eventually. -
Came across this interesting article in the Indy Star today about how Assembly Hall was nearly replaced. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2021/11/04/indiana-basketball-there-plan-replace-ius-assembly-hall-new-arena-hoosiers/6282066001/ It’s likely a moot point for the foreseeable future after all the recent renovations, but there are a lot of good arguments for replacing Assembly Hall. The lower deck has a lot of bad seats. An arena like Banker’s Life (or whatever it’s called now) doesn’t have a bad seat in the house. It’s a great place to watch a game. Replacing Assembly Hall would objectively create better views for the fans. The arena, though renovated, still had the same old bones. I can see why they wanted it replaced. Despite that, I never want to get rid of Assembly Hall. It’s unique. It’s iconic. A cookie cutter new arena undistinguishable from the dozens like it around the country wouldn’t feel right. Long live Assembly Hall!

Maybe Hoosier Hysterics brokered an endorsement deal for him to ride along with the cops for the day and sign autographs. -

And I have no problem admitting that the “Fire Tom Allen” thread was premature. I made it out of frustration in 2019 after a close loss to Michigan State. It was yet another game we lost because our staff went ultra conservative in the second half, playing not to lose instead of playing to win. We were coming off back to back 5-7 seasons. Allen was 4-16 in the conference after that loss. Things weren’t looking good at all. But then we went 5-3 over our next 8 games and followed it up with a 6-2 season. I got over it pretty quick and was happy that IU was winning. This year, though, we’re looking even worse than we did in Allen’s first two seasons. That’s obviously not what you want to see in a coach’s fifth season after returning the vast majority of his starters from a successful team. Which Allen is the real one, the one from the previous two seasons or the one from the other three? That’s what I want to find out next year. -

Why are you still butt hurt about a thread I made two years ago? Allen has us dead last in the conference. He got us shutout for the first time in over two decades. Allen could have five seasons like this one and his fans would still be chanting LEO and talking about the grand covid year. He’s had five seasons and three of them have been bad. -

It’s not just one bad year. It’s his fifth season here. He took over a team that went to back to back bowl games for the first time in years and only fired its coach for off the field reasons. Year 1 - missed a bowl Year 2 - missed a bowl Year 3 - made a bowl Year 4 - made a bowl Year 5 - almost certainly missed a bowl Year 6 - tbd He’s 15-24 in the conference right now. I said he’d deserve to be fired if next year is a repeat of this year. That would be four of six years where he misses a bowl, and the team would be trending in the wrong direction. Do you disagree with firing him at that point? -

Call it whatever you want. They’re objective facts. We’re in last place in the Big 10. We’re the only team that hasn’t won a conference game. We returned 19 starters from a 6-2 team and now we’re sitting at 2-6. Our last two recruiting classes were both 12th in the conference. Allen’s 8-5 record in 2019 came by beating teams with a combined 25-71 record. His 6-2 record in 2020 came during a fluke year without fans. Now, things are back to normal and IU football is back at the bottom of the conference. -

The third string quarterback has played better than the first and second did this year. We returned 19 starters on a team that went 6-2 last year, we started the season ranked in the top 20, and now we’re dead last in the conference. We’ve beat one team with a winning record in the past three season. This will be the third time in five years Allen has missed a bowl. Give him next year to make changes and put together a competent staff and see if we’re trending in a better direction. -

Welcome to the dark side! It won’t happen because we gave him way too big of a buyout but another season like this one and it’d be deserved. For all the talk about ‘recruiting momentum,’ our 2020 class was ranked 12th in the conference and our 2021 class was also ranked 12th. You can’t expect to be anywhere other than near the bottom of the conference with classes like that. It remains to be seen where the 2022 class ends up and which players actually make it to campus. Right now it’s 5th in the conference. Will it stay that way if we lose out and finish 0-9 in the Big 10?
