  1. I don’t agree with prioritizing defense. Archie prioritized defense and look how that worked out for him. It leads to giving up only 48 points to Purdue but still losing because you can’t buy a basket. You need to be able to score points. If you can bomb threes you can play with anyone. My all time favorite IU game that I’ve been to was when a 17-2, #13 Maryland came into assembly hall and we were absolutely unconscious from 3. We went 15-22 from 3, with Yogi going 7-8. Beat them by 19 points. If you can’t score teams will stick around no matter how good your defense is. Between a great offense/average defense and an average offense/great defense, give me the former every time. You can’t afford to play 4 on 5 on offense, and that’s how it is when Galloway is on the court.
  2. He is borderline NBA though… plenty of very good college players have games that don’t translate well to the NBA. Right now, that’s Trayce Jackson-Davis.
  3. He didn’t draw any conclusions on one game. Literally all he said was “former Hoosiers struggled from distance last night, as well.” It’s an objective fact that they struggled last night.
  4. I’m not really a big Galloway fan either. He plays hard but that should be the expectation for every player and not something that, by itself, gets you on the court. He’s just kind of out there doing cardio when he plays. He’s not a threat on offense. He can’t shoot. He’s not a defensive specialist. Maybe he’ll be a rotational player when he’s an upperclassman but he’s not one on a good team at this point.
  5. First game in front of fans in Assembly Hall since March 2020. Only Trayce, Race, and Rob are left from that team. Three of our starters are brand new. We looked like a team that hasn’t played much together. That’s to be expected with the number of new guys we’re trying to work in, plus everyone is new to a Mike Woodson team. Frankly, I liked that we took 24 threes even though they didn’t go in. I thought it was really encouraging. We won’t shoot 16% every game. We only took 18 threes per game last year which was 301st in the country. We only took 24 or more 3s in a game last year three times. (And we won all three games). We also only did it three times the year before that. You need to be able to jack up 3s in today’s college basketball. We just need to get the right guys taking them. Race probably shouldn’t be taking threes, and definitely shouldn’t be taking four of them in a game. Kopp and Stewart need to be taking more of our threes. Bates was injured so hopefully that explains his limited minutes yesterday. I’d like for him to get more time and more threes.
  6. How did the crowd end up size wise? I saw a friend’s picture from later in the game and it looked like a pretty good crowd given the 6:00 start, the directional school opponent, and the absolute mess that is 37.
  7. He’s gone but his spirit still haunts Assembly Hall
  8. Well this is not what I was expecting, but it wasn’t ‘get blown out by ISU at home’ levels of disappointing so Woody is off to a better start.
  9. Eh, I mean the wrist injury didn’t help with the shooting. He was injured for the majority of his first two NBA seasons, but he’s playing rotation minutes (19 mpg) for the Celtics so far this year. He hasn’t played like an all star, but being a rotational player on a playoff contender, especially at just 22 years of age, is something a lot of 5 stars never accomplish. I’ll just always have love for Romeo despite the team being a disappointment that year. He got injured early in the season and could have shut it down like a lot of lottery picks would have, but he chose to tough it out and play. If Bates happens to be as good this year as freshman Romeo was then we’re in great shape. (Not that I expect him to be, or even that it’d be fair to expect him to be)
  10. Romeo was really good. He just had a messed up wrist and clueless coach.
  11. Nice to see a 6+ minute scoring drought from the other team for once.
  12. Parker Stewart has hit more threes in the first two minutes than IU did all last year I think.
  13. Nice to see the coaches suited up. Woody knows how to dress
  14. Hope X factors Duncomb and Geronimi came ready to play.
  15. Also a lot harder to turn around a football program than a basketball program, especially with the transfer portal. Frost needs an offense, a defense, and special teams. Woody only has to play 5 guys at a time. He lands a couple studs and the team turns around real quick. Woody’s job is easier, and he has a lot more experience.
  16. They were required to wear suits but the rules were loosened before the start of this season. I think NHL coaches still wear suits. I prefer it. I think it looks sharp and creates a sense of professionalism.
  17. How many games do we play? Looks like 31? Regular season record: 21-10 Conference record: 12-8 NCAA Seed: 8 NCAA Finish: Round of 32 Hard to know what exactly to expect. I think we’re a tournament team and a top half of the conference team. Beyond that, who knows.
  18. Thanks. If they’re going to be as involved with the program as it appears they will be, I hope they knock off all their extracurricular nonsense. Will they? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
  19. I only read the tweets regarding the HH guys, so I don’t know what else is on his account. The HH guys did acknowledge that the interaction happened and gave a generic ‘sorry you were offended’ apology. I don’t know what the specific rules for NIL are, what the university is allowed to do, if they can hire outside agencies to put together events, etc. I just can’t imagine these two guys are the best we can do. Surely we could find a person/group to partner with that has, at a minimum, some degree of professionalism. Eric’s ‘Mr. Hollywood,’ but who even is the other guy and what does he bring to the table? Every video they put out is Eric talking 99% of the time and the other guy making weird faces
  20. Could we break 100 tomorrow night? Our lineup actually has several guys who can create their own offense. Archie did it two times in four seasons. For comparison, Crean did it 5 times in his last season alone. I’d love to see us start out the Woodson era with a dominating offensive performance.
  21. We’re going to put games out of reach before crunch time so Duncomb and Nathan Childress will be leading those lineups. But really, I have a feeling Bates will be playing in a lot of those lineups. I also think it’s a matter of when and not if as far as him replacing someone in the starting lineup.
  22. This season is over. The only thing keeping my interest is seeing whether we win one of our remaining games. Right now we’re one of three P5 teams without a P5 win. Sheridan and Hiller both need to be gone. We need upgrades at basically every position. What can we reasonably do to get back to a bowl game next year?
  23. Really feels like the team and staff have given up on the season. Last night’s game plan looked like the goal was to be as conservative as possible to avoid getting embarrassed. Don’t go out like that with bowl ineligibility on the line. If you lose by 50 you lose by 50. Go out fighting, not with a whimper.
  24. I absolutely hate that the basketball program has decided to join forces with these two guys. They regularly harass recruits, they put out cringe video after cringe video, and they’re jerks to random band kids. People talk about how crazy fans on social media can hurt the program with recruiting but then give these two guys huge passes for their behavior. They're two of the worst violators. If you don’t want to read my posts hating on them in a thread about their event then just keep scrolling. I’m going to be vocal about the university partnering up with guys who tweet at high school recruits to tell them that they want to get matching BFF tattoos and name their kids after them. Guys who, less than two months ago, cornered a recruit, stuck a phone in his face, and put him in a very uncomfortable situation. It’s not normal behavior. I’d say we could talk about the event instead, but doesn’t sound like there’s much to talk about in that regard.
