Fred Glass Retiring

I just hope we get an outside hire who will make a commitment to winning and shake things up a bit. From what I've read on various boards, the athletic department really gets hamstrung with compliance and isn't allowed to find ways to use rules to their advantage. I'm not even sure what all the entails, but I do know if I were coach of the basketball program, I'd want to be able to do my job without my boss trying to find ways to bust me. I'm not saying we gotta be Duke or Kentucky, because I don't want that. I'm just tired of losing recruits to the Marquettes of the world. -
(2021) PG Khristian Lander to Western Kentucky U.
AKHoosier replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've read on some boards he may have a bit of an attitude problem. Purdue stopped recruiting him when they saw him on the court in a shouting match with his dad who was in the stands. That aside, his numbers don't paint him out to be the best PG prospect in America. IDK. Hate to lose out on a highly ranked kid from in-state though, but sometimes the fit just isn't there. -
Maryland won't make it out of the Sweet 16. Turgeon has a ceiling.

That was basically a practice for Wisconsin. It's why I said I can't pick IU to win up in Madison until we actually do. How they bounce back against UConn is huge. If we can beat UConn and ND on a neutral floor, then take down Nebraska and Arkansas, I'd be very happy and forget about this game pretty quickly. It's just a lot more concerning that we cannot defend the 3. If we continue to allow teams to have their best shooting performances of the year from outside, Archie has to re-examine the type of defense he wants to run.

Prediction League (Game 9 - @ Wisconsin 12/7/19)

UW 64 IU 63 I can't pick us to win up there until we actually do. I really hope today is the day though. -
The optimist in me feels good about this game, however recent playing history up there weighs too heavily on my mind. We are more talented than UW this year, plus have a lot more momentum right now, but I get the feeling this will be business as usual at the Kohl Center. We'll play down to their level, Davison/Trice will hit a bunch of 3s, the crowd will be very into it, and the referees can't help but play to the crowd. This is just the game Wisconsin needs to get back on track. I've seen this movie before.

IUBB vs Florida St Game Thread 12/3 @ 9 pm ESPN2

Need to pound it inside to TJD and let him get fouled. -
Have to wonder if Purdue pulls the redshirt on Brandon Newman to try to get some offense going. He's probably nothing special but he could inject some life into their shooting.

The past 2 weeks has only confirmed what I thought during the opening week, that NONE of the teams in the Champions Classic are all that good. Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, and MSU don't look like top 10 teams at all.

Give me a junior Al Durham over a freshman Anthony Edwards all day long.

I just really hope we can take advantage of the opportunity to boost our resume in December. If we win 3 of Florida State, Notre Dame, Arkansas, UConn, and Wisconsin I'd be pretty happy. 5 is totally possible though.

If you get a chance to watch a UMBC game this year, do it. They have a 5'2" PG on their roster named Darnell Rogers. He's a pretty good player, just looks like a child out there.

(2021) PG Khristian Lander to Western Kentucky U.
AKHoosier replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Supposedly we're waaaaaaay behind Michigan and Louisville right now. Probably better hope Michigan loses some of its luster, and Louisville undergoes another scandal pretty soon. -
Absolutely imperative we go to the tournament this year. Since Michigan and Louisville definitely will, and could very well have deep tournament runs. We can't expect to fight off those schools for guys like Lander and Kaufman while we're in the NIT and they're going past the second week of the tournament.

Now that it's official I feel confident in saying there's a certain poster on another board who everyone thinks is an insider but obviously is not, and whose word I'll never give any time to again. I'm sure there was a time he had a good source, but that person is probably no longer close to the program so now he's just getting bad info and passing it along as near gospel.

I love the 2020 guys we have too, but none of them are as good as Garcia. How do you think the staff feels, do you think they're negative at all after visiting and targeting him so much only to get beat by a school like freakin' Marquette? Garcia is damn good. He averages 27 ppg, and no offense to our current recruits, but there's not a single one of them that I look at and say "thank God we got him, because I don't know what we'd do since we lost out on Garcia."

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Plus Romeo kicked his @$$ defensively. That still makes me smile. -
Another case why you should NEVER look at a recruit's decision logically. Where they go to college is 90% an emotion-based decision. So many factors were leading him to us: Better team Better program in a better conference Their sh1tty coach is on the hot seat 2 very good players at his position transfer at last season's end Has 2 really good friends on IU So of course he goes to Marquette.
