Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
AKHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What a week!! -
First thought you meant IUSB when you mentioned South Bend. Hope he does well at ND. They'll win 12 games max next year though.

Sounds like Sherrill is still on campus, and plans to stay until Tuesday morning. Plenty of time to lock him up. Maybe the wonderful Spring scenery in Bloomington can be enough to persuade him to spend another few years here. -

At the same time he just saw his hated in-state rival win a national championship 2 years after getting a new coach. Izzo knows his window is closing. He wants another title before he hangs it up. Pressure is on. -

Great now MSU has a definite number they know they need to beat. Mat Ishbia is probably on speed dial. -

Did Providence happen in to some money this year or something? They are shooting their shot with every big name transfer portal target it seems like. -

I'm not letting myself envision a future with Sherrill at all. That dude is going to be expensive, plus I only see him going to a proven winner. We need a successful season in the worst way. -

God help this board if we lose an in-state kid at a position of need to Kelvin Sampson lol. Wouldn't blame Burton for it though. Houston has been the better program over the course of his lifetime. He's probably transferring from ND because he's a good player who's sick of losing. Will he get away from that at IU? Tough call. -

Burton would probably be our best PG since Yogi. Not saying a lot, but it's not nothing. Gotta start somewhere. -
This game should have been way more entertaining.

#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
AKHoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
ND irritates the crap out of me. A lot of ND fans legit think they have a claim to the championship by virtue of beating us last year. They like to use that one game as a metric, while ignoring the fact 2025 IU beat the team ND lost to in the 2024 CFP Championship. It's the cherry on top we beat Miami, who coincidentally also beat Texas A&M, both of which were responsible for ND's losses. "Oh but we were playing so well by the end of the season!" Yeah like that could only apply to ND. No one else improved throughout the course of the season. Did I mention they irritate me. -

Can't shake that feeling either. His posts are all "Expect IU to be a major player here. FWIW" Not exactly going out on a limb there. -
Thank God we'll always have that magical last year of Woodson's tenure to soften the blow of watching Dusty May play for a title in his 2nd year at UM.

Not a good day for former in state basketball players. This one has been in the works for a bit. https://www.wndu.com/2026/03/30/former-notre-dame-star-nba-player-demetrius-jackson-charged-with-battery-after-incident-marian-hs-basketball-practice/

Incredibly ironic when the "the only reason you're good is because you have 25 year olds playing on your football team" argument was sung loudest by Purdue fans.
-
Does Oscar Cluff have another year at Purdue? ESPN says he's a senior but I only see 3 years worth of player data on him, including this past season.
-
Feels like an unusually high number of people wearing IU gear out and about this morning. Yeah, we all know what we're doing...
-
Totally have had this thought too. I would not be surprised to see Painter bolt for a school with better resources. He's done all he can at Purdue. His window is all but closing, and no one realizes that more than him. At 55 years old, he's young enough to the point age isn't considered a negative in hiring since he'd have 10-12 good years left. Old enough for some serious self reflection, "is Purdue basketball the pinnacle of my career? That kind of thing.
-
Josh Schertz must disagree. I can't imagine interviewing for an open coaching position a week after signing a big contract extension if you're not serious about said position.
-
They are getting a lot of hate, which I love to see. Their brand of basketball is just so incredibly ugly, but it's the only way they can win at this point. I hope Arizona pounds them and I never see TKR on a basketball court again.
-
Yeah ignore me. I didn't see how Purdue hangs with Arizona but I'm sure they'll be allowed to muck things up like they have been to keep it close.
-
Is this not a hook and hold?
-
Am I crazy or does Arkansas feel like a worse matchup for Purdue than Arizona would be?
-
Not to mention Brian Kelly having most recently been there. It's like LSU created a list of the most unlikeable coaches and said "ok hire from this list".
-
Didn't watch a minute of St Louis all year but if last night was indicative of how they play, man we missed out on not hiring Schertz. And I do like Devries. Relentless energy, cutting to the basket, flawless finishing at the rim, and crisp, smart passing. They were just faster to the ball in all aspects. Georgia looked shellshocked a mid-major could play like that.
