This is why I never got excited when Trilly predicted Wilkerson to IU. We'll fill a roster, plenty of guys still out there. But missing on Conway and this kid who we clearly wanted badly is not good.

True but in fairness those are pretty solid numbers for a young QB in the SEC. Just ridiculous how greed is changing the game. Nico had already made over $2M+, started receiving NIL money when he was in high school, and had a deal reportedly worth up to $10M if he stayed at UT. He's obviously talented with a bright future in football. If he stayed at UT, put up big numbers in Heupel's system for 2 more years, he would no doubt be a first round draft pick if not top 10, and not to mention already have life changing money before he even lands on a NFL roster.

Just a mess. Where else in sports are you going to find million dollar deals agreed to essentially by handshake? Supposedly Tennessee is trying to poach Illinois' starting QB now in time for next season.

That would be amazing, no one is denying that. No way one team gets both those guys though. And I don't want an offense that has both those bigs on the floor at once. We've seen how that works out.

Does Payne only have a year of eligibility left? If so then yeah that may he a reason to pursue Bidunga instead. I've just always been impressed with Payne. Such a beast.

Dang. Losing Conwell really stings. Look at it from his point of view though. You visit IU right now, you're meeting a coach who barely knows his way around campus and doesn't even have his staff finalized. You can't form a relationship with your future teammates on the recruiting visit, because your team doesn't exist yet. That matters.

Rough for them. They seemed to be excited about his future but I didn't follow him closely enough to know how big of a loss this really is.
