Mgbako Arrested, Paying Small Fine for Misdemeanor
AKHoosier replied to Jeff Flabjohns's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah. I'm glad it isn't more serious, both for his sake and the team's. But I'd be lying if I said this doesn't make it harder for me to root for him. So many stupid decisions, including being needlessly confrontational with law enforcement. Glad no one was physically put in danger though. -
I'll add to this, fans need to stay away from attacking Boogie on social media if he ends up at UK. Not just because it's the right thing to do, but we also shouldn't burn bridges with Fland if/when Calipari leaves UK after the 2023/2024 season. If he doesn't get to a Final 4 with this incoming class, they'll run him out of town. With the way the past few seasons have gone at UK, the rails will come off at the first sign of adversity this season, aka losing a few early games.

I'm feeling confident he's ours. He set his commitment date immediately after Liam committed to IU, and that speaks volumes. The week leading up to every recruitment decision follows the same path: feeling confident, uh oh some random guy posts something we don't like so he's going somewhere else, then more tea leaves. A tale as old as time.

So awesome!! From the moment I learned about this kid he was my highest target. The potential dominos to follow after are so exciting too. -

So is it halftime of 3:00 PM or 9 PM game? Some of us go to bed at 9:30. -

Dang I miss college. -
My guess is he deals with major anxiety and depression. If that's the case, I understand the need to just focus on getting your life right.

Don't joke about that. Not funny.

Calipari ensuring he'll never have to go to Assembly Hall. No way he's at UK 4 years from now.

I learned a long time ago 2 things in regards to IUBB recruiting: It's never as good as it seems, and it's never as bad as it seems. The disappointment of the 2014 super class of James Blackmon, Trey Lyles, Cliff Alexander, and Theo Pinson that was floated briefly by Rabjohns as a possibility caused me to temper my expectations from that point forward. -
That's the sad part. We were making good progress under Kevin Wilson. Appearing in a bowl game in consecutive years was a big step forward as a program. There was more of an "on the upswing" type energy around IUFB too. On the recruiting trail, we were beating Power 5 teams like Minnesota, Louisville, and Wisconsin for players, rather than MAC teams like when Lynch was here. All of that progress on the field has been lost, and it's all because of the man in charge. Allen is able to land some good talent still, but they're not reaching their potential.

Self must have REALLY wanted Mgbako. Seems like he's holding a grudge because he lost at his own game. -
Not yet, but she settled her lawsuit with ESPN. Hope she won big. It would be great if the B1G Network picks her up.
-
Sage Steele no longer at ESPN. Sucks, I've always liked her, and was nice having an IU alum on that network.

Disney has been a sinking ship for a while. They'll survive in the long run, but I'm hoping they jettison ESPN, and the network can get back to what it has done best for years: focus on sports. They are, after all, a SPORTS network. -
The guy who just won a national championship at #30, behind Tommy Lloyd, Ed Cooley, Leonard Hamilton, Brad Underwood? Yeah ok that makes sense.
-
I'm sorry, I can't even with this quote. The guy who brags about how many 18 and 19 year olds kids he sends to the NBA every year to play against grown men on a nightly basis, is the same guy who laments the transfer portal when he doesn't sign the players he'd like to under the guise of player safety. Give me a break. Calipari is now the least self aware person I can think of.

Is there any doubt who the next high profile college coach will be who suddenly decides to retire in the wake of NIL?
-
I'm guessing those dozen regular students are NOT unattractive females.
