I'm just as concerned with their ability to develop talent, and maximize a player's abilities to fit the system best. Then again they would have to have a system to begin with. Regardless, we should have at least 6 spots to fill, most should be guards/wings, and Walker could be worth bringing on.

He was a fairly successful coach at IPFW, coached under Izzo for ~10 seasons, then went to IU for a year. I have a hard time believing he couldn't get a job on a bench if he wanted one.

This lineup would be pretty bad defensively. Not one I'd be overly excited about tbh.

Mike Woodson has forced himself into the position of having to put together a bubble team right now. An 18-13 team losing its best player and senior point guard is not going to sniff the top 25 next season, at least not with our coach at the end of the bench.

I'm not convinced Jakai Newton contributes anytime soon. 2 major knee injuries are pretty devastating for a guard. He very well may need another season to get fully healthy.

I'm a little surprised no official news of portal entries has dropped yet. My guess is there is a calculated effort for the timing of news being released to coincide with the tipoff of March Madness Thursday, so anything just goes largely unnoticed. That, and of course things simply need time to shake out.

Should Gunn and Banks leave, that means 4 portal players are needed at minimum. That doesn't even account for Ware going pro. If I'm Reneau or Mgbako, there's no way I'm not testing the waters to see what else is out there. I would want to play in a better situation even if it meant a pay cut. This is going to go so poorly.

It's so frustrating that he is being given the chance to fix this through the transfer portal. The fact that he needs to fix it through the portal is evidence in itself that he has no plan or system in place, and is simply winging it. That's what you do when you're completely at the mercy of whoever decides to enter the transfer portal. If you attempted to build a roster through recruiting high school kids, you can cast a wider net and take the time to identify kids who fit into your system, and develop them to contribute to it. He's just resorting to throwing other people's money at the problem to hide his inability to fulfill the duties of being a college coach.

I'm assuming the reports of OSU hiring Diebler are correct, and he has been chosen to succeed Holtmann. Idk. To each their own. To me it doesn't seem wise to hire a guy who did fairly well with his boss's players in a short amount of time. Let's say Woodson gets fired next January with a 14-9 record. Then Kenya Hunter takes over and goes 6-2, and still misses the tournament. If IU chose Hunter to succeed Woodson I would be.....disappointed.

Jerry's update will likely be depressing. I'm predicting Dolson has communicated his frustration to Woodson, and has clearly laid out expectations for next year. Ultimately, nothing will change the fact Woodson will return, so everything else is just unimportant details.

The decisions that some programs make can be so baffling. I don't understand how you fire Chris Holtmann with a month left of the season only to replace him with someone on his own staff. Then again I don't get how you can pay a huge buyout to get rid of Archie Miller only to replace him with Mike Woodson. Here's hoping that the Michigan AD tries to outthink the room too.
