The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association surveyed its members and received 612 responses from roughly 800 boys and girls coaches regarding implementation of a shot clock. 68% said yes and a proposal will be submitted to the IHSAA. Make it so IHSAA. Side note. Although 68% is a nice percentage, that's just 416 in favor which is basically just 50% of the total number of coaches so certainly not an overwhelming vote of support. -

Well why didn't you say so in the first place. lol Branham is the only name I have in my database of offers and potential offers. UA has always been in 3rd place but there's usually been at least a half dozen names of IU interest playing UA. -

Shane Laflin of ESPN in a story on recruits who could outperform their HS ranking. No. 28 Addison Nyemchek, W, Indiana commit Nyemcheck checks every box for a player who will continue to improve in college. She's versatile and unselfish, which will serve her well at Indiana. This season, the 6-foot-1 wing is averaging 20.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 45% from 3 as she more consistently works in long-range shooting to complement her patented slashing game. College player comparison: Berry Wallace (Illinois), Gabriela Jaquez (UCLA), Saylor Poffenbarger (Maryland) All three impactful two-way wings shared common traits and trajectories coming out of high school. Nyemchek could slide into a similar role in Teri Moren's motion-style offense, as a three-level scorer with the switchability to guard any position other than center -- something Indiana wants to do more next season.

Probably too much to hope for, but man would this kid look great playing regularly in SSAH. Last night Sunnyslope (20-1) defeated Desert Vista (8-10) 62-58 but Desert Vista didn't at all play like a team with a losing record. Sunnyslope led most of the night but never by more than 10 pts. Wabbington with a nifty 19p and 11r double-double to go along with 2a, 1s, 2b, 0t. He also drew a total of 10 fouls. IMO he's very mobile and has good hands. No one ripped the ball away from him once he had his hands on it. Can put the ball on the floor going coast-to-coast twice.

Later in that game above, she made another one from damn near the exact same spot. Coeur d'Alene (19-2) defeated Lakeland (15-4) 75-64 in a pretty enjoyable game to watch. CdA led by 21 with 5 min. left but Lakeland made a furious rally. Colvin finished with 32 pts. that included hitting 6-10 on 3s. She was also 10-11 FTs., and added 5r, 7a, 4s, 0b, 1t and played all but the last 30 seconds. She took a hard body check and left the game after making 2 FTs, indicating it was her left knee. No idea how serious it may or may not be. Another interesting fact in this game is that of her 7 assists, 6 of them resulted in made 3s mostly when she drove to the rim and kicked the ball out to an open teammate. She also drew 8 fouls in the game.

How Is Darian Devries Doing?
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Josh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No idea what DeVries will do, but he did pull Bailey from the starter's role in favor of Alexis so he is willing to make a lineup change. -

In one of our IUWBB targets threads I pointed out the huge scoring margins in many of the girls games. Yesterday there was a game with a half time score of 54-17. Another 55-4 (not a typo). Yet another 45-7 (also not a typo). Thankfully, 2 of the games opened the 3rd Q with running clocks. The 45-7 game was in Alabama and they don't start a running clock until the 4th Q at which time the score was 64-16! [I'm positive the Alabama refs started their own 3rd Q running clock by not calling anything except the most blatant fouls.] Old Fart's Pet Peeve's 1. Every state needs a mercy rule and it needs to start in the 3rd Q. 2. Every state needs a shot clock. 3. 3-person officiating crew. One official repeatedly makes the inbounder move to a very precise spot. Another official in the same crew is okay as long as the inbounder is in the same zip code. 4. Play-by-play announcer: OMG we have a violent collision on the court with 2 players down. Looks like a broken ankle for one and a dislocated elbow plus a bleeding head wound for the other. The official on the court: Number 21, I told you to tuck that shirt tail in.
