  1. IMO no startling revelations.  His answers to questions were what I would expect.  He's aware of the unrest but still sees himself as fully in charge which is what he has to portray to have any possible success on the high profile recruiting trail.  I agree with Martin's assessment that barring a total collapse of the program either on-the-court or off-the-court, he's still here at least 2 more years.
  2.   Guilty of straying off topic, but I found an article in the Ottumwa, IA newspaper about the game and despite the score, there was no mention whatsoever of Holt in the article but there was no box score so can't tell if he played or didn't.
  3. Hated essay exams.  I struggled to fill a couple of pages and then there were the smart alecks going up and getting a 2nd or even 3rd blue book.  Surely they were only writing a sentence or two on each page weren't they?
  4. The way Jaybob phrased his post made me feel like I was an undergraduate again waiting for the blue books to be passed out for the exam.   [Do they even still use blue books?]   I'm inclined to agree with Brass that JBJ on the defensive end is a real key.  We know he can score but on a team of poor defenders he was one of the poorest.  If he can keep his man outside and prevent the drive down the lane it will really take the pressure off TB and our other bigs and help keep them out of foul trouble.  And yes, you could probably replace JBJ's name with Yogi, Rojo, etc., but we really need JBJ to be more than a one dimensional player this season.
  5. Announced today the Raiders have signed Thigpen.
  6. Mike Miller just tweeted:  "Overland coach Danny Fisher says Hoosiers remain "out in front" for Davis who is a top 35 player in the nation for 2016."   CORRECTION:  Miller cited a tweet from Aaron Matas of KUSA in Denver, CO.
  7. Psst!  Hey buddy!  Wanna buy a genuine Rollex for only $10?      :shout:
  8. Is the Ottawa scoring drought due to our defensive effort or have they just gone stone cold?
  9. Was cautiously optimistic our overall level of play would be significantly better than it sounds like it's been from everyone's updates.
  10. Thanks in advance to those who will be at the game and offering updates.  Your impressions of our defensive effort will be most appreciated since Ottawa manhandled us last season by routinely driving the lane and then kicking the ball out for open 3's, plus our lack of defensive prowess all of last season.
  11. I was under the same impression that many of the bowls actually end up costing the participating schools money.  I suppose there is some potential favorable impact on recruiting although I can't believe it's overly significant but the additional weeks of practice do have value as johnsoniu mentioned above.
  12. Osterman tweeted that it's likely this year that a 5 - 7 record will make some teams bowl eligible because it's unlikely there will be a sufficient number of teams with 6 -6 records to fill a total of 40 bowl games.  His tweet cited the following which is from a Nebraska sportswriter   http://www.omaha.com/huskers/could---nebraska-make-a-bowl-game-why-yes/article_1e600244-7bf1-11e5-8dd6-c325606df17d.html   and that article contains a link to a 2012 CBS sports article:  http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/19719427/you-may-see-a-5-7-bowl-team-in-the-future   I'm not smart enough to try to figure out if the Hoosiers could be one such team if we finished the year at 5 - 7.  But in my old and cranky opinion, if 5 wins is the best we can do, we don't deserve a bowl game appearance.   And in a follow-up tweet, Osterman indicated our multi-year APR for last year was 977.
  13. Vagabond nature of his college career thus far may suggest his skill set just isn't that high if he didn't expect playing time at UConn and didn't last at OSU past summer workouts.  Apparently saw competition that was clearly better.
  14. The faculty could teach cursive reading and writing!
  15.     I had the same funny feeling but it was just gas!      It's not gonna get any better against Eye-O-Way   Hickies   28   Us          24
  16.   Maybe no moral victory but there is a moral to the game, i.e, there is no such thing as a safe lead for IU football!
  17. And a perfect illustration is the play that didn't work for the Colts last week against the Pats  -- oh wait, that was a terrible call.
  18. I like Wayne's thoughts on Brown, Kegler and Davis being realistic commits.  I've never had high expectations that we'd land either Alkins or Thon.
  19. IU football is what it is.                                                    W      L      T Phil Dickens        1958-1964     20     41     2     31.7% John Pont            1965-1972     31     51     1     37.3% Lee Corso            1973-1982     41     68     2     36.9% Sam Wyche               1983          3        8     0     27.3% Bill Mallory           1984-1996     69     77     3      46.3% Cam Cameron     1997-2001     18     37     0      32.7% Gerry DiNardo      2002-2004      8     27     0      22.9% Terry Hoeppner    2005-2006      9     14     0       39.1% Bill Lynch              2007-2010     19    30     0      38.8%       TOTALS                                218   353    8       37.7%   Since 1958 not a single IU coach has had a career winning record.  Only 2 - Mallory and CKW had or have a winning record against PUke.  The last winning football coach we had was Bo McMillin (1934-1947) with 63 wins, 48 losses and 11 ties.   DENIAL:  We can't be this bad every year can we?   ANGER:  Damn it!  How can we blow a 27 point lead and allow 28 unanswered points?  Damn it #2!  How could we not be prepared for the Syracuse zone?   BARGAINING:  Please God, I don't care if we never win another football game just let us hang another NCAA championship banner in Assembly Hall before I die.   DEPRESSION:  Losing to PUke.   ACCEPTANCE:  It's Indiana football.   I'm sure I'm old enough to be the father of the majority of the BTB posters and old enough to be the grandfather of a few more of you.  IU football has been bad for almost my entire life [1968 Rose Bowl and a few other scattered bowls the exception].  Sometimes you just have to have a little humor to take away some of the sting.
  20. IU football is simply not a priority in IU athletics and probably never will be.  Surely this season is unacceptable even to Glass and I think a change is likely, but in the grand scheme of things, we are never "going to open the checkbook" for our football program.  To be slightly above mediocre (and annually beat PUke) is all we can ever expect.
  21.   And an overall higher level of talent pool to work with.
  22. No reason to wait until Friday hoping for more insight on who can and will play.  Really doesn't matter.   Spartacus 49   Ho(osiers)peless   17
  23.   I'm glad I didn't get to watch any of it!   Thank you wedding planner whoever you were.
