  1. From Old Friends Post #27:  We've never run shooters off screens because I don't think Crean recruits kids who are truly interested in screening or doing things to get team mates open.  He has a roster full of kids who want their own numbers.   Save Hartman, I don't even think we have kids willing to do "little things" that help teams win.   I've spent hardly any time watching the likes of the basketball factory prep schools and just a little more than that watching the AAU circuit.  My observation is that's how those types of teams are coached, i.e., all about building personal stats to impress the D-1 recruiter.  Rarely are there more than 3 passes once the ball crosses mid-court and then it's a 1 on 1 move.  Screens are non existent.  If they're not playing good solid team ball at that level, you'll never get it from them in college.
  2.   I'd choose the mute button and find Fisch on radio!
  3. Problem solved!   The Uprights: Hoosiers Boilermakers Spartans Illini Huskers Buckeyes  (They grow on trees so that's sorta upright!)     The 4-Legged or Neanderthal Division Wolverines Terrapins Wildcats Badgers Gophers Nittany Lions
  4. That just might be the sign of the apocalypse!
  5. If he shows, Dakich will likely have the mother of all heart attacks.
  6. 5 of 6 clutch free throws might just do it.
  7. They've had a tendency to go through extended dry spells in many of their games and it's cost them a couple of games they otherwise would have likely won.  Not sure why it happens, but it does.
  8.   If it happens, they'll have to build a new Assembly Hall because the building will collapse from the roar.
  9. The Good Guys    85   Blackeyes             70   I'm doing a 180 on this game solely because - well, I'm not really sure why except my gut tells me the wheels fall off.  JBJ and his points are MIA and I don't think TB will have the kind of game we'll need inside.   The potentially 3 - 1 Hoosiers    73   Columbus Colonoscopies    76
  10. It was a good post, certainly worth at least a nickel!
  11. On 1/2 Crown Point defeated South Bend Washington 68 - 60.  Gelon with 24 pts., of which 21 came on 3's.  He also had 9 rebounds according to the box score.  Not a number we've seen in his typical stat line.
  12. Just tried to primarily stay focused on Cujo and really couldn't tell you much about anyone other than he, Bridges and Tatum.
  13. An Iowa/PUke post-game quote from Jared Uthoff, "We played with a set of nuts."
  14. HP lost in OT 84 - 83.  Chaminade's Jayson Tatum (Duke recruit) scored 46 and was basically unstoppable.  Lots of very fluid spin and baseline moves.   Haven't found any other individual stats but Izzo and Sparty are getting a good one in CuJo's teammate, Miles Bridges.  As for CuJo, this was the first full game I've seen him play and have a mixed reaction.  He can shoot and he made several nice drives to the basket.  Sees the court and had some really nice assists.  Defensively, I'd describe him as lackadaisical, although no one seems overly interested in playing good defense in these types of games.  I thought he played soft and rarely went into the paint looking for rebounds.  Several times, I also thought he only made a half-hearted attempt at loose balls or stray passes.  Again, this is the first full game I've seen him play.
  15. Didn't expect PUke wouldn't be able to defend their home court on Rick Mount Day.   At least Rick swallowed his pride over whatever slights he's harbored all these years and returned to let the fans honor him; doubt RMK ever will.
  16. Huntington Prep vs. Chaminade (MO) no streaming on ESPN3
  17. I've seen tweets that he has something on his knee under his warm-ups but that he was not walking with any noticeable limp so I don't think he's had any surgery and hopefully won't have to.  If he had surgery I think there would be some overt signs such as crutches or a clear favoring of that leg.
  18. They're probably trying a number of different treatments to see how the knee responds and hopefully whatever the problem is that it doesn't require surgery.  To say he's out with a knee injury when in in fact there is no injury would be an outright lie and I don't think Crean or Glass would permit that.
  19. And after this many days likely already had the surgery.
  20. At the half, Xavier over Butler 45 - 35.  A familiar name leading the scoring for Xavier - Remy Abell with 14 pts. on 5 of 6 from the floor.      Final score 88 - 69 in favor of Xavier.  Mr. Abell had himself quite a game with 21 pts. on 7 of 8 from the floor and he also had 4 assists.   Some players transfer out and it's just not a big deal but to me Remy will always be one of those 'ouch, that hurt' transfers
  21. Doesn't look like they miss him very much with a 17 point lead nearing the end of the 1st half.  But then again, it is against Penn St.
  22. Tunnel vision.   He seemingly refuses to make mid-game corrections (except for changing defenses mid-possessions) and is convinced his game plan is the perfect plan.
  23. It's been a little scary at the number of posters who have predicted a Cornholers win.  Where oh where have the good old days gone?
