  8. Indiana's Amanda Cahill named Big Ten Player of the Week. She averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 boards per game at Florida Sunshine Classic. Atta girl! Amanda Cahill Named Big Ten Player of the Week ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior forward Amanda Cahill has been named the Big Ten Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. The Clyde, Ohio native is rewarded for her performances at the Florida Sunshine Classic where she averaged a double-double as she guided Indiana to two wins over Florida and Stony Brook. Cahill averaged 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds to go along with 5.5 assists, 2.8 assist to turnover ratio, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks as she averaged 60 percent or better from the field (.609) and 3-point line (.625) in the non-conference finale. She also became the 26th player in school history to reach 1,000 points in Wednesday's win over Stony Brook as she went 5-for-7 from the floor (.714) and pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds to go along with 14 points and dished out six assists, two steals and two blocks. In the Tuesday win against Florida, Cahill posted her first 20-plus point game of the season with 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds. She shot 56.3 percent from the floor and 60.0 percent from 3-point range (3-for-5) while adding five assists, a steal and a rebound in the win. The back-to-back double-doubles are also the 23rd and 24th of her career as she now owns six of IU's nine double-doubles scored this season, including four-straight. In addition, Cahill now sits in a tie for sixth in career double-doubles at Indiana, tying Zan Jefferies (1988-91). Cahill is the first Big Ten Player of the Week for Indiana this season. With junior guard Tyra Buss's selection in 2015-16, the duo combines for weekly honors in back-to-back seasons for the Hoosiers for the first time since the 2007-08 and 2008-09. Indiana returns to the court on Wednesday when it travels to State College, Pa. for the Big Ten opener at Penn State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and will be live on BTN Plus and heard on IUHoosiers.com
  9. Very nice piece on Jodan from the Chicago Sun-Times and the 2 excerpts below should pique your interest. I’ll warn you in advance, the article is loaded with pop-up ads you have to deal with. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/is-rb-jordan-howard-the-bears-only-compelling-player-left/
  10. For those that don't regularly follow CrimsonQuarry this link is to a short synopsis of our primary 2018 targets. http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2016/12/26/14048550/indiana-basketball-recruiting-whos-who-in-the-class-of-2018
  11. This was Hova's thought from a couple of days ago.
  12. Only a single Christmas Day game with an IU connection and that was OKC defeating the T'wolves 112-100. Vic missed his 7th game with what is clearly a badly sprained wrist. That slacker Westbrook only had a double double in tonight's game with 31 pts. and 15 assists.
  13. Unreal stat: Virginia has 10 players averaging 9.5 minutes or more and six of those players have committed 10 turnovers or less this season. Glad we didn't recruit those same kids; they'd pull our TO average down. LOL
  14. Falcons (10-5) knock off the Panthers 33-16. Coleman with 9 carries for 90 yds.; long run of 56 yds. 3 receptions for 45 yes; caught all 3 passes thrown his way.
  15. Finally, after all those cootchy coo words about Duke, Allen, ad nauseum, some bona fide words of wisdom from Olivia. LOL. Merry Christmas Olivia.
  16. The woeful Bears beaten by the Redskins 41-21 fall to 3-12 on the season but Jordan with another strong game. 119 yds. on 18 carries; 1 reception for 9 yds., targetted 3 times. Tracy Porter with 2 tackles.
  17. And many of the games he gets his triples, he not just scoring 20 points. In last night's game, OKC scored 117 total points. Westbrook has 45 all by his lonesome plus another 11 assists for a minimum of an additional 22 points. 67 out of 117 ain't too bad.
  18. There are no NBA or D-League games scheduled for the 24th. Ho hum, Westbrook with another triple double - 45/11/11 12.23.16 Season W/L W/L Min. Pts. 23. Just got home and per the stat site, Newkirk with 8 assists in the first half!
  24. Phinisee missed another game today due to an injury. McCutcheon is participating in the Marion Classic and we have further info on Phinisee's injury. Phinisee, a 6-1 junior point guard with offers from Butler, Indiana, Purdue and Virginia, took a knee to his upper right leg early in the season and injured it again in a win over Kokomo on Dec. 9. Phinisee had his leg drained on Wednesday and said he hopes to be back for next week’s home game against Tech. “It’s probably 60 (percent),” he said. “It didn’t feel that good (Wednesday) but it’s getting better.”
