(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
SB Riley remained undefeated with a 96-48 whipping over Bremen. Anderson scored 15 pts. -
It's not just us, but almost every article I've read from people who get paid to follow sports are totally bewildered by last night's lineups and substitution patterns. A good friend of mine sent me his analysis of our team and I think he's spot on: Crean recruits talent alone without any regard to how the pieces fit. I don't think those guys know their roles. Most "teams" have 1 or 2 go to guys for scoring - a primary scorer and a couple of secondary options. They have a couple of guys who can play lock down defense - a couple of players who can rebound and bang on the boards. But they understand their roles - Crean's teams (and this one especially) don't seem to have an identity - players don't know who their main scoring option is. It is a mess. 76 was Scott May with help from Benson and Abernathy, defense provided by Wilkerson and Buckner. Isiah was 81 with Wittman and Kitchel as secondary scorers. Turner and Tolbert I think on the boards. Alford in 87 with help from Daryl Thomas on scoring - everyone played defense except Alford according to Knight. Butler's teams have looked similar to Knight's - they know who is supposed to score, who is supposed to rebound, who is out there for playmaking and defense and they stay in those roles for the most part. My two cents - crean didn't play the game and he is so concerned with signing 5 star players he misses the team concept.

Juwan Morgan: "We didn't come out ready." Isn't that basically what the opening comments were from the team after the Nebraska loss?

None of our NBA players had games scheduled for today. Nice stat line for CWat who hasn't been seeing a lot of action. 01.03.17 Season W/L W/L Min. Pts. Wilson a Buckeye?
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to BabyJandJDaddy's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Such is the way of college and professional sports. It stinks, but it is what it is. -
I'll say this enought that I should probably get it tatooed on my forehead but I don't think Brad Stevens ever coaches another college basketball game in his life. He'll stay in the NBA; if he's dumped by Boston, another team will gladly take him on. That's the way of pro basketball and pro football in particular. And at some point, he moves up to a GM position. I fully agree with Hoosierfan2017 except for his very last sentence because if he really wants to come back to Indiana, all it will take is a couple of phone calls and he'll have any number of non-basketball job offers.

Couple of paragraphs from Indystar: http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2017/01/03/indiana-hoosiers-hire-mike-debord-offensive-coordinator-tom-allen/96112168/ The Volunteers set single-season school records in points scored and total touchdowns in 2016. They finished second in the SEC in scoring offense, and Tennessee was one of just three schools to finish in the top half of the conference in all four major offensive categories: scoring offense, passing offense, rushing offense and total offense. Tennessee's offense also came under some criticism from fans for its lack of aggressiveness at times, as the heavy SEC East favorites finished just 4-4 in the conference. The Volunteers won their Music City Bowl matchup with Nebraska last week, 38-24. DeBord's comfort with a spread style, and his offense's success with a more mobile quarterback, would seem to fit the vision Allen has laid out for that side of the ball on his watch.
