Maybe it just has to do with getting older and gaining perspective, but I don’t understand how or why an IU basketball player could not relish at the short-lived opportunity before them and both come to play every game and do everything possible to get better while they’re in school. There is one player on this roster who has even a marginal chance at making something of himself in the NBA. At best, the rest of these guys are going to be playing in Turkey or Greece for a few years. Then for the next 45 years it’s either slouch over a desk with a 45 minute commute each way or become a coach/trainer/basketball camp instructor if you want to remain involved with basketball. I don’t know. Maybe with such an emphasis on getting to the pros as quickly as possible, being a college basketball player isn’t the “in” thing these days.

I just don’t understand how it is so hard to put a decent product on the floor. So many schools that don’t even emphasize basketball have been better at it the last 20 years than us. This isn’t football where you need to get 50 guys and half your coaching staff right to compete on a national level. This is basketball. A handful of guys and one coach and that’s it.

There will be more than enough. Did anyone know Nick Zeisloft’s name before he came to IU?

This isn’t a bad Penn State team. The egg was the end of the MD game. I see us winning at least four of our remaining home games and getting one on the road.

We have 10 games left plus the BTT. Four or five more wins will get them in, especially given the wins we already have and the lack of “bad losses”, even though we look BAD when we lose. The team’s chances are indicative of the college basketball landscape this year, which is there are no great teams. For all the talk of how deep the Big Ten is this year, every one of these teams is objectively average at best. I’m not kidding. There isn’t a single team in the B10 this year that would finish top 5 in the league in most of the previous 15 seasons. So enjoy it, because as bad as we looked tonight, how putrid our backcourt is, the recurring scoring droughts, and the fact we’re a bubble team at best any other year, this team could just as likely make the Elite Eight this year. It’s a very weak year for college basketball, and some no name programs are going to be making the FF come April.

Peyton Ramsey to Northwestern
Magnanimous replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Michael Penix is a more talented quarterback and can elevate this program to the next level if he stays healthy the next few years. I don’t want to rag on Ramsey in his “tribute” thread, but Penix did more than just practice well. Congrats to Peyton on a great career at IU and best of luck at his next stop. -

Kind of checked out these last few minutes with the news about Kobe. RIP -
We also didn’t need to score a ton to beat MSU. That’s the point I’m making.

Green has the ability to get us 15+ points we can’t make up with the rest of our roster’s shooting capability. As has been stated repeatedly this season, it is unknown and increasingly rarer that he will be “on” when he sees the court. If we’re ever in a game where we may need to score 85+ points to win, Green playing significant minutes is almost unavoidable. With our defense and how unremarkable much of the conference/country has been this season, it’s unlikely we’ll need him to show up again for more than a handful of our remaining games.

I’m afraid to ask when the last time was we had a three game winning streak over MSU... -

Even hitting a couple of shots changes everything. Trust the process. -

That possession was Green in a nutshell. -
We would’ve all been wearing Tu “zip em up” Holloway jerseys. #FreeBudMackey

Let’s not ignore the fact that about 8 players on that team had a Kent Dorfman level GPA.

Chiefs break through and make the Super Bowl. Would’ve been two straight appearances if Dee Ford doesn’t line up offsides against the Pats. Bigger should’ve been champion - 2019 Chiefs or 1975 Hoosiers?
-
It was hideous because we hit a total of two shots outside the paint, not because we lost to a decent Rutgers team.

He’s 3-18 in the SEC so far.

IU at Nebraska Game Thread 1/18 7 PM BTN

I know it was a tight finish, but goes to show you what this team can do when they hit shots. The Lineup of Phinisee, Franklin, Hunter, TJD and Brunk looked good. I don’t think Smith is ever going to reliably take over a game but if he can continue to be a guy who makes plays when he finds himself in opportune moments like tonight, he’ll add a ton of value to this team. -
