We are probably going to go 7-5 in non-conference without an impressive win.
The tourney is not in the cards this year.

ESPN gave us a 42% chance to beat Duke.  They gave us a 22% chance to win today.  I don't know why anyone is surprised with the result.  Beilein is a top 5 coach and has an equal or better roster and was playing at home. Those who thought we'd win today know nothing about basketball.

I thought we talked ad nauseam about expectations. Let's not lose sight of what they were coming into the year...

For those complaining about offense we don't have any shooters.  We had plenty of open 3s against Duke that we bricked.  There is no Hulls or JBJ on this team.  Anderson will help immensely next year.

Exactly what I expected.  You're not winning on the road against an equally matched team.  We'll beat Iowa and then get steam rolled by ND and UL.

Even without Romeo I'm still really excited about the class coming in. Phinisee and Anderson fill huge holes at point guard and 3 point shooting. I'm high on Hunter too as a big guard. We also will have Race and Moore with a year in the system under their belts. I don't expect Forrester to contribute much next year but that could always change.

I love how after the Duke game everyone was feeling optimistic and good about this team. Now after we lose our first B1G game(on the road) everyone hates this team and we arent going to go .500 on the year. Its okay to be frustrated in dropping this game but good lord guys, I really hope some of you dont live near a bridge. Otherwise we might have a lot of jumpers.

It works, just ask Virginia, Xaiver, etc.

You need the right players for it. Archie has Crean's players. It's going to be some time before we see what Archie can do here.

Have been saying this from the start. Change in philosophy often requires a change in personnel.

Why wouldn't a recruit want to play at IU? The fan base really has their backs through tough times. Wanting to leave guys behind and calling them "terrible" would really be endearing to me as a young man. Yes this team isn't good but it come on

It will be a very young team. This is definitely a 3 year rebuild, which coincides with what Archie has said from the beginning. It will take 3 years until his D is running at a optimum level. We need more players who can knock down an open 3. Hopefully we got that in the recruiting class.

Disagree. The problem is these kids are not switching properly yet.  His Dayton teams covered the perimeter quite well.

This is one of the games I had down as a loss from the beginning of the season. We aren’t even a decent defensive team and Michigan can always shoot it. Add in on the road, not good odds.

Then why do you pull for IU basketball? IU has cheated and probably will continue to cheat in basketball. I think the overall point is, we have no moral high ground to stand on. IU is just cleaner than Duke, UNC, UK, KU, and Arizona
If cheating is cheating, like you said, then a minor rule break is the same as FedEx boxes of cash (UK). How do you feel about Vonleh rolling around Bloomington in a new expensive car? What about players getting visa gift cards for spending money? These are the rumors about our program. Just like duffel bags of cash to UK recruits, funneled through NBA agents are rumored about Calipari.
If cheating is cheating, then are you worried about Archie? His brother is caught up in this Adidas/FBI scandal. Archie was an assistant under his brother and it would be naive to think he doesn’t or didn’t know how the recruiting game was being played. If he didn’t tell on his brother to the NCAA, wouldn’t that be cheating? You told the ref in your indoor soccer game that the goal was actually good, because if you didn’t that’s cheating.
You must also not want Romeo Langford. The rumors for years is that he will only go to an Adidas school. After all this Adidas/FBI scandal, you should be hesitant to get into a possible gray area with him.
This post isn’t meant as an attack on you. Just trying to point out that as an IU fan, we should be careful with the moral high ground. Those in glass houses, shouldn’t throw rocks.
Utlimately, I think changes need to be made to help clean up recruiting. I’ve got a lot of ideas for this but that’s for a different thread.

Would you accept a charge inside the circle, would you accept credit for a blocked shot if you knew you got their hand?

I know the answer to the above and those are just minor infractions that happen all the time that don't always get called.

If you knew the rules but also knew a ref didn't call it, would you take advantage of that to better yourself and your team on the court?

I don't understand this moral high ground and comparing a game to a deadly drug or cheating on your spouse, makes zero sense

Some of the play against the zone looks really good. Never seen a Crean team move the ball like this.

Impressive game IMO. Future can be bright. Archie knows his stuff. I'm not sold on this particular team, but I'm certainly enjoying the ride and seeing some worthwhile coaching. Hallelujah!

Definitely improving by the game. Duke will be the game to see how far away we are from being good. Keep it respectable and I’ll be excited about our chances going forward.

Didn’t a Duke player just get caught with $85k of jewelry a few years ago? Duke isn’t above board. To be honest IU probably played in the grey too. I work with former athletes and have heard stories of cars basketball players would drive, Noah Vonleh is a name I hear from players of other sports that is probably questionable.
