Glass fired a National Championship winning coach bc things had slipped in soccer. You don't think he will pull the trigger on firing Crean? Glass knows where the bar is for basketball. Don't let his public support of Crean fool you. That support will continue until he makes the move to replace Crean. I see 3 ways Crean is back next year. 1. He wins the conference. 2. He makes a final four. 3. Glass knows waiting a year will guarantee his #1 guy. There is no reason to keep Crean if Stevens is saying he wants multiple more years in Boston.

IU isn't going to care what he gets paid let's be honest. The athletic dept makes enough to pay hm off and a new coach a huge salary. I do appreciate your efforts to challenging ppl on this. Again let's be honest, even 12-6 with a sweet 16, Crean needs to go. This is supposed to be the "up" year. To me that means winning some sort of title, be it conference, conference tourney, or national. None of that is happening. Even if we have an easy January, the team is playing poorly and we always have a February swoon.

It's only $1.75 a year if fired before July 1. If he makes $1 mil a year at his next stop, IU pays him $750,000 a year. Glass has already said in the past a buyout won't keep him in a job.

People still talk about it bc the issues are still the same. Yeah IU beat a ND team that has a worse defense than ours. Yeah Indiana beat KSU, but they suck. So really we haven't improved and when we reach the tough part of our schedule the losses will start to stack up. January could be a good month as we play nobody that is better than us. February/March will be brutal and then we will finally get our wish......he gone.

IU basketball items are usually a staple at Christmas in my family. This year however, nobody wanted anything IU related bc of how disgusted we are over the basketball program. I guess you can say we are withholding our $$$ until they prove they want to win as much as the fans do.

Will Crean be there? If so, I won't watch........kidding.

There have been games where he definitely will go into hero mode. He will try to carry the team to a win, instead of just playing within a team concept. I don't know if that is him or if it's Crean telling him to take over.

I've missed the last 4 games and haven't felt bad about it. I completely agree with you about the product not being what you grew up loving. I feel the same way and trust me when I say we aren't the only ones. I've got friends who are now going to Butler games over IU games bc the product on the floor is more to what Hoosiers grew up loving.

I couldn't care less how others remember him. To me he will be remembered for staying too long and not taking us back to where we all want to be.....a consistant winner. I just want him to be gone and move on to some hope. I have ZERO hope for the future of IU basketball as long as that guy is the head coach.

Yep. The distaste for Crean is filtering down to his staff now. To me that's a toxic situation.

Bottom line is nobody would care either way if Crean was a better coach. Crean has turned me off so badly I didn't even realize there was an IU game on tonight until after it had started.

Je'Ney Jackson would do the same things people are complaining about with the new S&C coach. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now but when the head coach isn't up to pr, then someone has to try something.

If he comes back to college and IU didn't try to get him, then I would stop watching IU basketball. It would be the clear sign that IU doesn't care about basketball. If IU doesn't care, then why should I?

If IU loses nobody should be pissed, just another loss closer to Crean being gone. If IU wins, then everyone is happy. Win win.

Replace Brey with Crean and it still holds true.

It's a sad day when IU needs a quality coach to retire and a weaker Big Ten to be successful. That just speaks volumes to how mediocre Crean really is.

I'll be setting the DVR and watching when I get time. To be honest I haven't watched the past 2 games. With the holidays I'm spending my time with family and friends. When I get some free time next week I will watch it.

Lol. Last year wasn't overachieving. That's a serious problem if Crean thinks last year is overachieving and acceptable at IU. As for Wisconson, they don't have a roster consisting of 3 Mc D All Americans and a Jordan brand all star. Not to mention a slew of other top 150 recruits. To me he can say It's Indiana, It's Indiana, but he has no clue how to get a program at that type of level. Goodbye Tom Crean, you can't leave soon enough.

I think we actually agree but are stating it differently. I think playing good fundamental defense will lead to solid deflection numbers. Just as if you would track blocking out, it would lead to solid rebounding numbers. I'm just a firm believer in doing things fundamentally and then these advanced analytic stats will take care of themselves.

I just find it amusing because watching from my TV or court side I'm not seeing all the deflections that he claims at times. I think it's a great stat to use but I actually question the guys who are tracking them. I think they inflate the true number of deflections and then Crean spits out the stat he is given, to at times say we are playing good defense. That's why I asked what he defined as a deflection. As a previous poster stated, deflections are worthless if it's getting the defense out of position and giving up easy baskets. Ultimately it's about stopping the other team from scoring, not seeing how many deflections can be had in a game. If the players are unable to play intelligent enough defense to get a deflection without exposing the tram, then they shouldn't be going for it. Vic was great at deflections and didn't expose the defense. We don't have any Vic's on this team or the last couple.
