It might shock some of the players into stepping up. But overall I think our coaching staff sucks and an interim from this staff will just be more of the same. A change would just let the fanbase breath and give hope for the future.

Absolutely it would change my opinion. I actually said no to season tickets on multiple occasions this year. My wife asked me several times If I wanted to get them and I said no. I went to the Creighton game this year, only bc I was given free tickets.

There is no scenario where I see Crean staying until July if a change is made. It makes no sense to wait that long. With the structure of his buyout being a $1 for $1 decrease with new employment, no reason to wait. If a change happens I see it going down two ways. 1. Crean is let go after spring semester starts which will keep the younger players from transferring. Interim coach through the season. 2. Crean coaches till the end of the season and let go after all contractual negotiations that may take place.

Are you being serious right now? I wasn't calling out anyone on this board and was just giving reference to what happened on another site to give another perspective. Please look at my entire post history and find a single post where I attacked another poster. I will state my opinion, which is what I thought these forums were for. Open boards to have conversations about IU sports. FYI. I'm not banned there any longer as the other mods looked at the back and forth and realized I didn't break any rules. I don't want to see the mods here go down the route of not liking the point of view of a poster and giving them grief for it.

The biggest reason I left 24/7 was I had a run in with a mod who is a sunshine pumper and Didnt like my fact based assault on the lack of coaching by Tom Crean, in a thread about defense last spring. Oh the irony. The only MOB mentality I see on all the boards is the desire for change. The mob wants Crean out.

$8 million is $4.5 million more than Stevens makes now. If you pay in the $5-$7 million range it's double or more the salary for Sean Miller, Marshall, or Bennett. IU is also a better recruiting school than WSU, and UVA. newly renovated assembly hall and cook. You can't say what if they won't come. If IU is serious about winning and offer top dollar, then yes they will come. It's never going to be a question of what if they don't.

If actually just call Coach Knight and inquire. Lol Pipedream I know. He would knock the entitlement out of these players and make them play defense or sit the entire game. Or call the local Indy radio personality DD. I know both aren't good ideas but it just shows you how little I trust the current staff.

Where now? You keep Crean at least till after the spring semester starts. That locks in the roster and keeps the younger guys from transferring. You negotiate a buyout or say screw it and fire Crean an the agreed upon conditions of his contract. Every dollar he earns is a dollar less that IU pays. If he can get a job makin $1.75 mil a year, then IU will actually pay him ZERO! You start the recruitment process of Brad Stevens as there is an official opening. You bring the best offer you can and give him any accommodations he wants. Even if it take $8 million a year. It's time to join the elite again and he is the only candidate EVERY IU fan wants. If he still says no, then there are some coaches who could be had at the $5+ million range....Marshall, Sean Miller, Bennett. The list wouldn't have to go past that as long as IU doesn't go cheap. Pay what the elite schools are paying for elite coaching, and get one of the elite coaches.

Firing Crean now would at least put the fanbase to rest and everyone could be 100% behind the team without the Crean distraction. I couldn't care less about the recruiting class at this point. Get a top coach and recruiting takes care of itself.

Make him the highest paid coach if you have to. No is not an acceptable answer. Whatever it takes should be the strategy to get Stevens.

Indiana fans should ask for a refund for their season tickets. The product on the court isn't Indiana basketball or close to what it's supposed to be.

But but but.....Tom Cream doesn't defend or shoot the ball....blah blah blah I want to thank Coach K for having his Dukies give Tommy boy a complete beat down and showing all of America what a fraud Tom Crean is. There is no way he should be coaching a historically elite program. The only way this program gets back to competing with top teams is under new leadership. Time to move on and pull out the $$$ to get a real coach.

No joke. I remember a few years ago a Ohio State football recruit decomitted and went to Michigan. The kid started getting death threats from OSU fans. I'm actually glad Crean stopped tweeting.

The entire fanbase is not promoting bad behavior. Just bc a very small minority of posters on message boards attack Crean for ridiculous reasons, doesn't mean the fanbase is promoting anything. I've heard way worse chanted at high school games. The professor should be reprimanded if he hasn't already. There is no reason to jump on Crean for the superficial stuff. His lack of coaching acumen gives ample ammo for those of us who want him gone. Probably why I just ignore the few that complain about clapping.

Does it matter what they are? Do we want to be just another top 25 team? Which we aren't even that right now. Or do we want to be elite? Elite teams don't lose that much on the road or neutral sites.

I hear ya. I was basically making the point there are many coaches better than Crean. This idea that we have to stay with Crean if we don't fee we can get Stevens is nonsense. I'd argue that staying with Crean does more long term damage than good.

Except Jimbo told them no before Miles was fired. Stevens won't even talk until there is a opening. Which tells me there could be interest. Even if there isn't any, then there are many many coaches better than Crean. He'll ESPN ecen had a list of 50 coaches that are better than Crean. Edit: let's be honest Les Miles has won a national title and won over 72% of his games at LSU. Crean isn't even close to that caliber of coach.

No this isn't what we all fear. What I actually fear is being stuck with Cream for another 5 plus years bc the administration is too gutless to make a move and put the $$$ in place for a top coach. Crean isn't the answer and to keep him bc of fear is settling for mediocrity. Staying with Crean is definitely NOT the answer. Edit: from what I understood back in the spring there will never be a scenario of Stevens says no and Crean is coach. I believe the insiders were saying Stevens wouldn't even talk to IU about any possible interest bc there wasn't a job opening. So in order to find out about Stevens, Crean has to be gone. So the AD needs a list that starts with Stevens and has quality coaches following.

Not much to learn from a game against such a poor opponent. We need quality wins to make the Dance. Duke and ND loom large.

why not? I'm not a believer in a zone the past 7 years. But hey it's worth a shot. I highly doubt it will matter though. Duke by10 plus.
