Here’s a hypothetical for you: how much would Damon Bailey have made between 4 years of high school and 4 years at IU in the modern era? 50 mil? More?

2026 General Recruiting Thread (Bball)

Somebody needs to. For Chrissake, we have full blown European pros, now we have American pros, we have college players who graduated from HS in 2018, 8 figure rosters and when private equity inevitably gets it’s foot in the door uniforms are gonna look like NASCAR. It’s beyond gross and the NCAA is worried about nothing but getting sued and clearly doesn’t even have the concept of a plan. -

https://x.com/allasley/status/1980428711162966121 Ok, I would not have bet that this visit actually took place since there was no evidence at all. But here we have it, Vaughn Karvala visit pics. Got to be one of the odder top 50 recruitments I can think of. Still no concrete evidence of an offer, but there’s got to be. -

Apparently he will actually only have 2 years of eligibility. Not really sure why G League years would count against eligibility but junior college years don’t. But the pretzel logic of this stuff now is pretty incomprehensible. That’s why I’m continuing to advocate for age rather than years. Much simpler. Play all the ball you can until you’re 24. When you’re 25 you’re done. -

I’m only semi-kidding when I say I’m waiting for the 1st NBA-College trade. Since Jaland Lowe is hurt UK trades Jasper Johnson and a McDonald’s All American to be named later to the Pelicans for Jeremiah Fears. Something like that is inevitable. -

Well, this one’s kind of wild. Louisville takes a commitment for ‘26 from G League Ignite PG London Johnson. He was originally a ‘23 from the Atlanta area and had an IU offer from Ya. He’s 21 but will have full eligibility. Apparently he’s hitting campus in January and redshirting, so I suppose he’s technically a ‘25. -
IU vs Marian (Exhibition) 10/17 7:30 B1G+

The kid shot 45% on almost 8 attempts a game last year. You might want to give it a minute. -
The preseason Heisman favorite appears to be…..underperforming.

For all I know the Diane visit was a Schwarber level titanic home run, but the visual of watching that kid during the Marian game sitting alone behind the bench dressed in all black did not fill one with a ton of hope. -
I was equally daunted and picked Oregon thereby ruining my chances…..oh wait, I’m still T-1 so being good at the other games has some benefit as well.
-
We’ll see how many jobs actually open, but in the worst case it’s what, Penn St, Florida, Wisky, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn and Florida St? For guys saying IU overpaid Cig, what kind of offer would he have gotten in THAT market? Woah
-
Why is Alvin Kamara still in New Orleans? They’re terrible and obviously tanking. He’s got to be 30 or so and couldn’t he help a good team? Is his contract that bad or has he lost it to that degree?
-
Damn, that game was in Madison? So when he told them Fickell was staying I wonder if he also said, “Yeah, but 90% of y’all are going away.”
-
So, the AD met with the team and either told them flat out or allowed them to strongly infer that Fickell will be back next year and they were so inspired by the news that they rallied around their HC, brought their A+ game to Iowa City, and got beat 34-0? Huh
-
Ok, this just happened in the Mizzou-Auburn game. Tied at 17 with a minute left and Mizzou in game winning field goal range on the Auburn 30: 1) QB takes a sack back to the 37 2) QB tries to throw a WR screen, but not only air mails the kid but throws it backwards out of bounds to the 43 3) Illegal motion back to the 48 4) Throw into coverage and is picked off And yet they’ll probably still win it in OT because Auburn’s both bad and the victim of terrible luck
-
It’s insane. I get he lost a couple of seasons to health stuff and that’s a shame. But not everything can be equalized. Sometimes you just lose out and that sucks. And if it means you end up playing in the Latvian B League instead Sweet 16, then that’s how that goes. Chad Baker-Mazara is something like 3 months older than Grant-Foster and playing at USC this year. That should be impossible.
-
Tyon Grant-Foster loses his NCAA appeal for eligibility to play for Gonzaga this year. I’m sure he’ll sue and based on the Pavia stuff I’m sure he’ll win, but this is absurd. He graduated from high school in 2018. He’d be playing tournament games next year at 26. For all the problems with college sports at the moment nothing pi$$es me off worse than this. There are no circumstances, none, in which a 26yo man should be playing 18 year olds. Ridiculous. And should that happen in football it could absolutely be dangerous.
-
They are throwing up all over themselves. Against the backup QB no less.
-
That seems exactly right. He’s as good as his team. Doesn’t elevate anyone.
-
Wow, McAfee just called out Saban after he picked LSU. “Have you ever picked Vandy?” Saban was literally stuck. Took probably 15 seconds to formulate an answer and admit that he can’t get his mind around the fact that they’re good. That was hysterical.
-
Obviously there’s a difference between best and greatest, but at this point is it even arguable that Ohtani’s not the best player ever? He’s Babe Ruth except 6’3” 230 and playing now.
