  1. There’s a reason our 2 best players are our 2 best players. Snickers is in its own tier.
  2. Would have been pretty surprised if they didn’t at least inquire given how hard they’ve been in on PG’s.
  3. Yeah, I think the freshman don’t play a bunch thing is not in the cards this year. In Caffey’s case she’s just a better athlete than anyone else CTM can put on the floor and Makalusky is clearly skilled.
  4. Actually, what I’m waiting for, and it’s gonna happen at some point, is a 25/26yo defensive lineman who looks like Deforest Buckner busting some 18yo running back 3 months out of high school in half and ending the kid’s career and the Jay Bilas’ of the world who’ve been trumpeting the injustice of a man who graduated from HS in 2018 not being able to play in the the 2026 NCAAT will not say a freaking word.
  5. Yeah. and now a judge, who went to Gonzaga Law School no less, has now ruled Grant-Foster eligible and he’s playing in Gonzaga’s exhibition game tonight. Between this and the TJ Clark situation I really don’t even know what to say anymore.
  6. Wow, had no idea S &T had women’s basketball. Took my daughter there on a visit once and don’t even remember a gym.
  7. Was always fascinated by how that one came together. He felt like just the worst culture fit imaginable. Literally no one worse.
  8. Good question. Kid’s a very good player. Would have thought it pretty likely that he would have walked into OSU’s starting PG role with Thornton graduating.
  9. He has 3 years of eligibility left. Kid doesn’t look a day over 30.
  10. I was there as well. Thought the energy was decent from the tiny crowd, but it was fun and certainly worth the way too expensive tickets. Agree with a lot of what’s noted above, couple of things to add: 1) The difference early in the 2nd half was really good ball pressure and that was freaking Conerway. In the 1st 4 Baylor possessions he forced a TO in the post with a hard dig, helped off on a driver and blocked a shot and just straight pressured a kid on the wing into a TO. Really set a tone. Easy to see why Chris Jans really wanted him. Thought he was the best player on the floor the entire 2nd half. 2) The Bailey thing is concerning. He lacks lower body strength, gets bumped off path way too easily and gets outleveraged. There may not be a lot teams that can take advantage of him on the block. But the ones that can, yeesh. What made him good at Davidson was playing out of the high post with a facilitation piece and I don’t know if that’s how this is gonna go. He may end up being a bit of a misfit. Side note: the “I’m 15 and can sort of grow a ‘stache now” look has got to go. Reed, cut that thing, you’re an adult. 3) Really hope when Dorn gets healthy he can fill that long wing piece that they lacked yesterday. Carr was really good for Baylor, but he’s not super special. IU just had no matchup for him. 4) DeVries said he didn’t call much late in the game. Didn’t appear to me like he called much at any point. Just looked like they were running tons of continuity. Did the same thing against Marian. Would think that will be a fair percentage of their offense, but I imagine there is a lot we haven’t seen. Thought on the whole it was pretty encouraging and certainly entertaining. It was mentioned a couple of times above, but the 2 pass press break into the 1 on 1 Wilkerson 3 was awesome. 20 years ago that would’ve got you a seat.
  11. Hopefully they have a high end strength/conditioning program along with their skill development. Kid needs to get a lot stronger.
  12. This is the 1st time I’ve watched Pavia. What’s he supposed to be great at?
  13. That endzone camera on the punt showing the place filled to the tips was awesome.
  14. What’s a defense supposed to do about that? If they press him he’s just going to the corner, right? Looks basically unstoppable.
  15. If UCLA doesn’t figure out pretty quickly what Haines is doing up front Nico is not going to finish this game. They’re gonna beat that kid to death,
  16. That just feels way too complicated. Totally down with fakes, but if the ball’s got to hit like 4 different sets of hands that’s too much to go wrong.
  17. Just turned on the pregame. You’re being kind. Not to each their own. Get that creep out of IU gear, please. That sight is unspeakably gross.
  18. It’s funny listening to Fran try to comp him. In a high school I thought he was a more talented Brandon Roy. That’s still feels right to me. And people have forgotten how good that dude was.
  19. Darryn Peterson is such a freak. He makes scoring look like it’s just not at all hard.
  20. Physically, Ballo’s a pretty fair comp, except Diane looks naturally even a little bigger. Really can’t wait to see him up close in January. Watched a Border League game of his the other night and his conditioning is gonna need to get miles better to be any sort of rim runner. But what was pretty eye opening about that game was just watching him shoot it in warmups. He’s got this weird sort of Robert Parish-style release way up over his head and a little back of where you’d normally see it, it’s literally unblockable, and he made everything. Probably took 15 shots all the way out to 3 and didn’t miss. Then in the game he made a couple around 15’, a couple of jump hooks, straight bullied the poor kid trying to guard him into a dunk and then just yapped at him. Made a couple of nice passes. He doesn’t look that skilled, except he is. If you bring him in you’re gonna run stuff for him because you just have to. He’s too big and strong and the stroke is weird but pure and nobody in college is gonna guard him. Turning him into just a roll man would be wasting him.
  21. Yes. Very poorly phrased on my part. Will fix.
  22. Ahmed’s now down to Houston and BYU and is visiting Houston 11/1. Since that’s after Diane’s visit I would assume a Ahmed cancellation would be a bad sign for IU and an honored visit would encouraging.

This is gonna get so ugly.
  24. The NBA record for free throws in a season is Wilt Chamberlain in 1961-62 with 1363. 17 per game. SGA:
