  1. I don't find this kid in clips any more exciting then most on here. But what I do find intriguing is that, outside of RL, the only kid in the '18 class that both the old and new staff's seem to be equally high on is Forrester. Are they both wrong on him? Fascinates me. There is no kid i would like to see live more. Gotta be something there.
  2. Shout out to Old Fart on this one. As I recall the man was on Phinisee early in his Freshman year, maybe before that. Nice call, sir.
  3. See, this is what I miss about living in Indy. People who love the game enough to know and care about who the best underclass kids are. Here in beautiful St Louis, only the best connected guys know about anyone not named Jayson Tatum or Brad Beal. Makes me crazy.
  4. I would be concerned if it turns to be anyone but Johnson. That would indicate to me that he isn't having the kind of senior year this team needs to really compete. Don't really see anyone else filling that role.
  5. Could not agree more. Akinjo owned that team and Garland seemed like just a piece. But, man, is he a skilled piece.
  6. Final 8: IU, Seton Hall, Norte Dame, Pitt, Georgia Tech, Xavier, Va Tech, VCU. I know his stat lines and video scream just a guy, but that is an unassailably solid list of offers.
  7. First full game of Garland's that I've seen, so the usual small sample size rules apply. Talent and variety in his game are obvious. Great talent. But he doesn't seem like the toughest kid, and he really wasn't much of an on floor leader at all. Maybe it just seems more glaring right after watching Akinjo. That team belonged to that kid and he just competed his a** off. Just a great leader. Maybe Garland's tangibles outweigh Akinjo's intangibles, but I'm not sure about that. If I had the choice between 2 years of Garland or 4 years of Akinjo, I'd have to give that a lot of thought.
  8. They measure both a standing vert and a one step vert. A standing 40" vert would be pretty damned close to human flight. I'm not suggesting what they're doing isn't impressive, it obviously is. Freddie's incredible off 2 feet. Just saying it's a little like all these guys listed at 6'10" who are actually 6'8". They're still tall.
  9. Not sure I'm buying 5 40" verts on 1 college roster when I'm pretty sure there were only 7 or 8 at the NBA combine. But if it is true then Cliff is officially a wizard.
  10. Have seen Watson play several times. Goes to school with my niece. Really good kid. Really good student and will rep OSU well. A wildly overrated player. Good, not great, athlete. No exceptional skills. Doesn't compete that hard and hates contact. Looks better than he plays. Rumors around here were Harvard. That would have been a better fit.
  11. Just got done watching the game. Thomas played very well. Loved that he did the exact things that are eventually going to result in a long career as a rotational big. Didn't force a thing, just did what he does. Loved it. Ball, on the other hand, whoa. Forget the shooting, that's no big deal. He could not stay in front of Kendall Marshall and couldn't beat him off the dribble in the half court. At all. Kendall Freaking Marshall. I'm not sure who he defends. Probably have to cross match him with the 2, but I'm not sure his lateral quickness holds up against a decent 2.
  12. Actually, if Romeo ends up at UK, I won't care about losing him. There are certain program cultures, UK, Louisville, Syracuse, Oregon, Baylor, a few others, that I just find abhorrent, if a kid or his family/advisors aren't bothered by them then I don't want the kid rep'ing my school. Same with Bazely and Syracuse. If he wants to be there, fine, no loss. Losing kids to the Michigan St's and Villanova's are the ones that hurt. I've always heard that Romeo is a good, self-effacing kid. Hope that's true.
  13. The kid is in for a rude awakening when he experiences the urgency of his 1st college workout.
  14. I'll be real interested to see if he has clearinghouse issues. Preston as well. Mulitiple schools, including a year at API. I would not exactly bet my house on either of them being eligible in October.
  15. That kid is a '19? Physically he looks a lot like De'ron, who's almost 21, except he runs the floor much better.
  16. You might be right but about next year. But I am confident that a 6'10" kid with that length, who can make open shots, make free throws and plays as hard as that kid does can have a long career in the League as a rotational big. Look at Lavoy Allen. He's got 6 years in already and I would bet my house that TB has a better career than Allen.
  17. Really nice clip. Thought the last answer about scheduling was pretty telling. I think it's the 1st thing I've heard CAM say that I interpreted as an overt shot at FCTC. Just a diametrically opposed philosophy. We'll get this year's schedule, "as good as we can get it." Bot kind of funny and absolutely true.
  18. The right recruiter combined with the right shoe company.
  19. Agree with his point, but calling the Arizona and Indiana situations comparable in order to illustrate it is just deeply freaking stupid. They were not remotely comparable.
  20. I'm with pretty much everyone on JBJ. I think he'll go, and I don't think it would be a mistake if he did. I don't believe TB is going. A kid who was smart enough not to even declare last year is smart enough to see the developmental value of 1 more year. Sure, Gelon or Priller are obvious for the other scholly. But don't I remember CAM saying in his 1st press conference that he didn't believe in deep rotations? If so, I would think he would view end of the bench/good teammate types like them preferable to 1 of McSwain/Green/Jones, who would really push for minutes. I'm going with McSwain as odd man out.
  21. Looks to have added some upper body mass. Thank God. I have this vision of him trying to block a Miles Bridges dunk and ending up in tiny, jagged pieces.
  22. Thanks, this explains so much. Couldn't figure out why Garland would be such an early priority for CAM considering Phinisee fits exactly what he said he would be recruiting and there was no way he was recruiting Garland at Dayton. Didn't consider the possibility of a contact from the player's end. Could be a lot of fun to watch this one, though I really hope we stay on Phinisee.
  23. Thank God this crew took to heart the teachings of the immortal Teddy Valentine and made the National Champioship Game 100% about them. Managed to make a game between 2 really good teams into unwatchable dreck. Guys, you made Teddy proud.
  24. In the NBA that's offense on Hicks all day.
