  1. Watching the kid is kind of fascinating for what it says about Indiana HS basketball. Greenwood plays in a gym that seats about 200. I’ve been there twice and it’s been about 3/4 full. Also saw a road game that had a couple hundred people. They won a state championship last year and could win 1 or 2 more. By the time he graduates Mohammed will probably be one of the most accomplished players in the history of the state. In Indiana he’d be Eric Gordon and selling out everywhere they play. Here, nobody gives a s**t.
  2. I drove down for the game and Bruiser was there. Talked to him for a couple of minutes at the half. I wasn’t keeping a book on Mohammed, and I’m sure Old Fart, being the box score bloodhound that he is, will find them, but I had him at roughly 47pts/ 20 or so rebs/6 blocks. Sat the last 4:30 of a 25pt win. Could have scored 60 if he’d wanted to. The kid’s just a great player. Has smoothed out some leftward drift in his jumpshot and now has a clean, simple action. Goes to the rim with complete abandon and is basically oblivious to contact. He is gonna shoot a ton of FT’s in college. If the NCAA really tries to limit step in charges, Mohammed is so strong, physical anod explosive that he would be basically unguardable 1 on 1 by most college guards. Also love his demeanor. He doesn’t bark, doesn’t get frustrated, nothing. Just plays relentlessly and never stops. I need to see more of Wesley, but from the couple of partial streams I’ve been able to watch, the 2 kids aren’t remotely comparable. Bruiser was sitting alone about 20ft from me, so at the half I wandered over, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, ‘Coach, you need to make this happen.” He starts howling and says, “Yeah, you’re not the first one who’s said that.”
  3. Steve Forbes probably doesn’t get a big time job because he’ll never be the flavor of the month and isn’t gonna win the press conference. But that guy is exceptional. His kids make the right play over and over.
  4. Will Wade makes 2.5mil/yr and is dressed like a freaking driver’s ed teacher.
  5. Ok, this math may be too tempting to pass up: 1) watching a truly great high school player + 2) the opportunity for him to show out in front of a high major Asst + 3) playing a school they could probably beat 4 on 5 = Mohammed will score exactly as many he wants to. My office is like 3 1/2 hrs from Greenwood, but even on a Thursday night I may not be able to help myself. So y’all might get a live report on this one.
  6. So, Marcus Carr just put a million on OSU in the 2nd half and they flat refused to run a double or trap at him? Maybe a couple of folks ‘round here can put off the canonization of Chris Holtmann for at least a bit longer.
  7. Agree completely. Always found it funny how many people have suggested the guy’s not really good. Runs some of the cleanest, simplest sets of anybody. Did a terrific job at ISU.
  8. Really happy for these kids. Coming back from a road OT loss to beat a pretty good team in 48 hrs requires a pair.
  9. I imagine PU wins this because Neb is just gonna run out of gas. But Hoiberg did a really good job the other night and he’s doing a good job tonight. Very impressed. He’s getting the matchups he wants.
  10. Dosunmu with a really clever little dibble move in the paint to get an open 3 footer.....that he leaves a foot short.
  11. There was a moment in the 1st half where TJD stole a post feed and got the ball to Phinisee in an open court situation. Anderson on the left wing and Green on the right and slightly ahead of the play. Both of them had that “hit me and I’m gonna bury this” body language going. Any one else on this roster hits one of them for an early contested 3. Phinisee sees but refuses it, then pulls up instead and runs the set which ended up with a layup from I believe TJD. That’s the difference between a born PG and the manufactured ones Miller’s been trying to make work all year. Not sure how long it will take, but there is going to be point this year when their most effective lineup is gonna be TJD, Smith, Hunter, Green and Phinisee. Most versatile lineup they can play.
  12. Yeah, putting aside the fun that a UK game would have been, this really feels like the absolute best situation an IU fan could have hoped for. Love it.
  13. Happy for the kid. His original twitter announcement referred to the “University of Indiana.” Thankfully someone noticed and it has been corrected. An instate kid making that mistake would be borderline unforgivable.
  14. Yeah. The roster is gonna have a slew of wing guards by 21-22, but if this kid wants to come you take him. He’s on a different level. You win NC’s with kids like Mohammed.
  15. Best defense Brunk has played. Finally closed distance when Reuvers faced up.
  16. Sounds more interesting than the game I’m watching.
  17. The kid’s also a year young for his class. He doesn’t turn 18 until, I believe, next October. He’s got a great frame, maybe he grows into an OG type. Anunoby would have been a monster in Miller’s system.
  18. The St Paul’s-Belmont Hills basketball game today is not streamed. The St Paul’s-Belmont Hills squash match was. Jesus.
  19. Wow, nobody at the OSU-Penn St game. I suppose it’s too much to ask that the Wisky crowd is all in Indy as well.
  20. I’ve been harder on Brunk than probably anyone else on here but, man, he’s just huge today. I think Archie goes to him early and if Reuvers can’t handle him alone and Gard has to run doubles at him, I assume off of Franklin, it’s going to open up driving lanes and TJD and Smith have a chance to play volleyball on the offensive glass. And if he can root Reuvers off the block, and Reuvers isn’t a very physical kid, and can handle him alone, then our other defenders can play tight on the perimeter and then I’m not really sure where Wisconsin’s scoring comes from. Despite the history, I really like this matchup a lot for IU. I just wish this wasn’t the first road game.
  21. Iowa’s zone is so bad. They look like 5 random guys who’ve never practiced it together.
  22. Watching the Pacers play Detroit always makes me nuts. There is not a single guy in the Pacers’ rotation that Luke Kennard can defend. Not one. And yet they just don’t put his guy in actions. His guy should be in every action. I don’t get it, I don’t get It, I don’t get it.
