(2020) PG - Hassan Diarra
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
UGA tweet last week had a total of 50 likes. This one broke 100 in 10 minutes. There is no fan base like this one. Our lunacy is something to behold. -
(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter Transfers To Xavier
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Per Osterman, Hunter is a full go for basketball activities. -
Illinois was hard on him as well. Saw him once last year. Other than being built like a stick figure, there’s a lot to like with him. Range, aggressive rim protector, can really run. Glad he’s out of the conference.

Not to derail this, but Perea’s athleticism always confused me. Watching video during his recruitment his speed & explosion looked otherworldly. When I finally got to watch him live for Lalumiere he was exceptional, but certainly not rare. And then at IU he wasn’t athletically exceptional at all. Strictly a straight line guy. Have watched a ton of kids, never seen that to that degree.

(2020) PG - Hassan Diarra
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
When I read the story about Diarra getting gashed over the eye, getting stitches in the locker room, and coming back to lead a late comeback win, in a HS game for God’s sake, yeah, that’s all I really needed to know. There have been some tough, competitive kids that have rolled through the program, but when was the last time the toughest, most competitive, bad*** kid on the floor every night was an IU kid? The kid who just imposed his will on the game. Maybe Coverdale? Everything about this kid just screams that to me. Love him. -
Yaklich was Beilein’s top defensive Asst the last couple of years and is now at Texas. Great breakdown of UM’s ball screen defense and some nice stuff on what Chris Beard does. Really good listen for the x’s and o’s nerds around here.

You were that kid that kicked the hornet’s nest, weren’t you? -
(2020) PG - Hassan Diarra

Per Andrew Slater, Diarra is taking an official to Georgia this coming weekend, IU the following weekend, and Texas A&M Oct 11-13. -
(2021) PG Khristian Lander to Western Kentucky U.
Demo replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Lander may or may not end up in Bloomington. But your analysis strikes me as off. Phinisee and Lander would have exactly zero problem playing together defensively, unless you think that Lander is just going to be a disinterested defender. But he’s already a long 6’3”, and apparently still growing, with flat out elite movement skills. Neither he nor Phinisee is defensively system limited in any way. I would foresee a Sr Phinisee/Fr Lander backcourt providing exceptional ball pressure and being highly disruptive creating turnovers and pushing pace. And any moron could scheme them offensively. If he ends up elsewhere, he ends up elsewhere. But system and personnel fit don’t strike me as the slightest issues. -
(2020) PF/C - Dawson Garcia to Minnesota
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Doubt this matters at all. Garcia can comfortably play next to anyone. Love his versatility. Inside/outside game is so clean. -
(2020) PG - Caleb Love
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
This never felt like a fit to me on any level. Now Diarra feels like a fit and assuming CAM continues to stay on ‘20 PG’s, I will absolutely be disappointed if that one doesn’t happen. -
(2020) PG - Caleb Love
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Agree. Both from what I have seen watching him and been told by people who know him, Love seems to be a really good kid. Have also heard he’s an excellent student. But he does seem to want the keys to the car and with a Jr Phinisee that probably doesn’t happen here. And I don’t put him in the same class as a kid like Lander, who’s just too good to sit. It’s a shame. He’s so explosive that he would be a really tough matchup running stuff that puts him in a position to attack off the wing. He’d be a fit as CJ McCollum. But I think he’s looking to be Russell Westbrook. -
(2020) PF/C - Dawson Garcia to Minnesota
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think the staff needs to remind Garcia that MU is recruiting RJ Davis to be essentially the next Howard. And then have him ask the Hauser’s how much they enjoyed playing in a system like that. Not that setting screens and floating to the circle while your PG pounds the air out of the rock until he finds himself a shot isn’t a great system for a kid like Garcia. Oh wait.... -
I have never, ever, wished failure on a player the way I wish it on Brown. Just an extraordinary POS.

The first 26 responses to his tweet were IU mentions. Yeah, 26. -
(2020) PF Matt Cross to Miami
Demo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Of all the kids that the staff was in on, Cross was the one who interested me the least, easily. He looks to me like a trail 4 in an up tempo system, kind of a Luke Maye type. Archie can talk all he wants about pushing the pace, but he really seems to want to play a fairly low possession mid tempo game. And I just don’t see Cross’s fit. He’s a tweener in a bad way, too small for a traditional 4 and not a good enough athlete to hold up on the wing. I don’t know who he defends against big-time competition and you’re gonna have to run stuff to get him looks because he isn’t going to get his own. Given a choice I’ll take Geronimo 10 times out of 10 over Cross. -
Blau Quote from Jordan Geronimo on why he picked IU: "After my family checked into the Graduate Hotel, we looked up and saw basketball chandeliers. There were old-school bleachers decorating the walls. We were blown away by how deep & rich the basketball history at Indiana was." #iubb Love this kid!

Love this get! Welcome to the family, Jordan.

NW just called a QB draw on 3rd and 14 at midfield with 3:30 left and down to Stanford by 3. I’m trying to think of a more blatant example of a Coach telling a QB “you suck” that I’ve seen lately than that. Not saying I disagree. Hunter Johnson has been godawful. Seems to have no idea what he’s looking at.

2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves
Demo replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Unless Brunk has gotten miles better than the player I watched last year, and that would fantastic, I would find this, a) almost impossible to believe, and b) not encouraging. The guy I watched last year, and maybe y’all saw something different, had nice hands and feet, good passer, could finish around the rim, though not great in traffic, runs and competes hard. Energy and emotion. But, a non-rebounder, non-rim protector who could be leveraged off the block on offense and consistently, and I mean consistently, gave up deep post position. Not a physical guy. And that wasn’t the Big Ten. When he announced, I thought, nice piece, I like it. But I’ve never thought of him as more than a useful rotational piece on a team that’s any good. Certainly not your best interior guy. If that puts me in a small minority, I’m absolutely rooting for y’all to be right. -
Ed Schilling Leaving, Mike Roberts Arriving
Demo replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah, pretty sure if Brad freaking Stevens took the job and announced it by calling Miller a coaching wizard whom he could only aspire to emulate that someone would say, “but he didn’t win a title with the Celtics. Underwhelming hire” -
2020 General Recruiting Thread
Demo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Wouldn’t be my preference, but if the staff desires that kind of roster makeup, I can see it. Would rather see 1 or the other, my minimally informed opinion would be Geronimo, and a big, preferably with rim protection skills. -

Chris, Do you know if the first contact on this was Archie to Roberts or Roberts to Archie? Curious.
