Game Thread: Indiana vs. Illinois (9/2) 8 p.m. EST on FS1
cthomas replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
This is embarrassing so far. Everything from them is too easy. If we don't settle in soon, well it could get ugly. -

Is there anything more frustrating than following recruiting and not knowing all of the things in play that lead to one decision or another. It's certainly no longer about playing for a favorite school or coach. So many other factors are in play. And, more and more, it seems that financial considerations are the factor that tips the scale. -
I agree with most of this and believe that CMW has dealt with the issue appropriately. Since I have no firsthand knowledge or access to the people involved, I don't know what actually happened. I always take the public information with a grain of salt.
-
Sadly, it seems this is what we have come to. I tell my grandkids, boys especially, to avoid interactions with the police as much as possible. If forced to interact, be as polite and quiet as possible.

He doesn't have to start to make an impact. I look at Malik as a significant upgrade over Durr. There were games when we couldn't play Durr because of match up problems. I don't think that will be the case with Malik. I think he will give us depth and quality minutes on the frontcourt. That equates to impact and an overall better team.
-
Of course he isn't, but he may be a big piece to us taking the next step up the ladder. If that is not impact, I don't know what is.

B1G Inks Lucrative New TV Deal w/ CBS, FOX, & NBC

The proof for me will be in the execution. If this turns into a play to force more subscriptions to Peacock, I won't be happy. As bad as cable tv was, and I'm glad I left it, streaming services have the potential to be worse as things become more fragmented. Give me channel 4 and a set of rabbit ears. -
Weird maybe, but what do you have against Olivia? I like her.

I don't know if he was the best, but he was damn good. I have a very foggy memory of him and those teams. But I do remember him and the Terry Dischinger Purdue teams. For all that Bob Knjght did for IU, and it was a lot, Branch McCracken laid the foundation and put IU on the map. I loved watching those teams.

IUFB 2022 Season Thread
cthomas replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
To me, his injury was the beginning of the end for the season. We win the Cincy game, and maybe the season goes a different direction instead of snowballing out of control. -
No matter how it shakes out, the competition for minutes is going to be insane. No possible way that doesn't make us better than a year ago.
-
If he is good enough to get meaningful minutes, we are going to be very good and very deep.
-
If we already had shooters, then absolutely I would take a kid like Carr all day long. But if he doesn't fill a position of need, then we go through another season of complaining about kids who can't shoot from three. For the first time in a long time, we are targeting kids who complement the kids we already have. Maybe we get them, maybe we don't. Regardless, there is no benefit in taking a player that has the same skill set we already have.

I don't think he is a good enough shooter to fit with this roster. I love what he brings in toughness and defense but that's kind of what Galloway brings. If we can add shooters to what we already have, we can be a national player. -

The transfer thing concerns me. Patience isn't typically the strongest trait for the kids we are recruiting. They are all good enough to play quickly somewhere. I see very good players all the way down the bench. What I don't see is the playing time to keep everyone happy and engaged. I know "it will work itself out". -

Just read dad's comments and, wow, that was about as positive as possible. I feel really good about landing this young man. We continue to hear great comments about CMW from not only the players, but the parents as well. That bodes well in my opinion for sustainable success. Maybe we finally got the coaching hire right. -

No idea, but I will root like hell for that young man. Good for him! -

I'm just going by the guys we have and assuming that CMW is recruiting the same type of guys. I hope we get at least two years from most of our recruits, and with NIL, maybe more. I think there could be a formula for that going forward that takes advantage of the new landscape. -

Great thing is that they are high level, high character multi-year guys. -

I want him on my team! -
Fife and IU didn't part on the best of terms, so I kind of expected that kind of reaction from him. I don't know why it didn't work here for Fife, other than the allegations I saw on the internet, but I clearly didn't and it didn't pretty quick. I never really got the feeling that we were in a great position with Booker and wasn't thinking he would be part of this class. I hope he finds the success he wants, as I do for all kids, and he gets to live his dream. I have great faith in CMW and staff and believe we will be just fine.
