  1. I fully understand what are saying, but what is our record again?
  2. I understand your concerns, but I don't think that CMW and CTA are in anyway comparable. CMW is an accomplished player at the highest level and a respected coach there as well. CTA is none of those things. The basketball program may well fall off some next season but I don't see it being as far as you apparently do. The '24 class will be the one that either propels us forward or not. Even CBK had down years following highly successful years. I'll wait to see how this plays out. I just know that I'm more comfortable with CMW at the helm than I have been with anyone since Coach Knight.
  3. We are who we are. I've been watching this since around 1960. Except for a few odd bright times, bottom feeder is who we are. We will never, or at least not any time soon, compete with the powers in the conference. They fill huge stadiums, we can't fill our much smaller stadium. They have traditions going back generations. Coach Hep tried to do that here but never really got the chance. I have no idea what can be done here, but for my lifetime nothing has made a lasting difference. I'm tired of waiting and am done investing energy and emotion in Indiana football.
  4. I thought that Kevin Wilson was our best shot at building a program. Look at how that turned out. As bad as this is now, I believe there are darker days coming. I wanted to believe in CTA, but it has become apparent that he is not the answer. Maybe no one is. Maybe IU football will always only be a parking lot party until basketball starts.
  5. I watched the first half and then opted to sit on my deck on a beautiful afternoon instead of watching the second. Looks like a good call.
  6. I'm not ready to believe that this falls on CMW. He played 4 years in Coach Knight's motion offense. He also played and then coached with NBA talent. He is apparently well respected in the league. So, I have a hard time believing that he was to blame for what our offense looked like last year. I don't think knowledge is his problem. Maybe adapting that knowledge to less talented college players is. Now that he has had a year to process everything, I hope that CMW's vast experience will manifest itself on the court.
  7. Agree on that point. It does seem to confirm what we have been hearing about having quality depth. That alone would have won a few more games last season.
  8. Maybe. At this point, I wouldn't count on it.
  9. We play to be mediocre at best. That's our ceiling. Hoping for a 6 - 6 season is the definition of a losers mentality. I don't see anything on the roster or in the pipeline that will change that. Frankly, it's embarrassing.
  10. If you can't recruit, you can't win games. If you can't win games, you can't recruit. So, here we are.
  11. Being busy with grandkids most of the first half kept from making comments that I would regret now. I can't figure this team out.
  12. Good to hear from you! Hope all is well, at least as much as possible, after Ian. Was thinking about you and other IU people down there as I watched it on television. Can't even imagine.
  13. I remember that but think that '81 team would have rolled anyone in front of them. By tourney time they were nearly unbeatable.
  14. From my perspective, I love having Mike Woodson as our coach. I was a big fan of his during his playing days and was happy for his NBA days. I don't buy that coaching college kids is more difficult than coaching NBA guys. As CMW said, it's just basketball. Nobody understands IU basketball better than CMW. His knowledge of the game is at the highest level. He has a great staff and I believe he will always put a product on the court that we can be proud of.
  15. The thing that I hope we never lose sight of is that we all want the same thing, IU being great in basketball again. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. I state my opinion and others state theirs. I tell my wife all the time that she is married to an idiot. I enjoy the back and forth and never take anything personally. It's all in good fun and I'm looking forward to a great season. I can't wait to see this team play.
  16. I think Cupps will be a terrific player for IU. He will be unselfish and make everyone around him better. I like everything I have seen from him so far. I also think he will be under appreciated by some because he won't have gaudy numbers, won't make flashy plays, and won't stuff the stat sheet. What he will do is what he has always done, represent his school with class and win.
  17. Years of mediocrity will do that.
  18. Probably not going to solve our problems, but it is a start.
  19. We can argue all day long about whether or not CMW is a good college coach, but without a doubt he gets IU basketball better than anyone since Coach Knight.
  20. If I was the IU qb, I'd be in the portal as soon as possible. That o-line is a career ending injury waiting to happen.
  21. Let it seem easy for them, and then when complacency sets in, we'll attack. They won't know what hit them.
  22. A lot of truth, like it or not, with what you just said.... and, for the record, I don't like it. But, then I am an old guy just trying to keep up.
  23. I would have no problem with that if he had coaching value beyond this one recruit. I would rather get kids on merit versus hiring their coach or handler.
