Let's just call them the "Kraken". Let the starters soften them up and then we release "The Kraken" to finish them off.

This is new territory for a lot of these kids. We haven't had a winning culture for a long time. The freshman are used to winning. The older guys not so much. This seems like a team with tremendous potential but is still trying to figure out their roles. I think CMW is doing the same thing right now. He knows he has pieces, he's just not sure yet how they fit together. We'll lose some games, but this group has a chance to go farther than any we have had for a while. With our depth, I almost look forward to the reserves getting into the game. Haven't felt that way in a long time.

I've been watching for a really long time, but this is a team that I can get excited about. It is good. It has depth across the board and CMW obviously likes what he has. I haven't seen any other top ranked teams, but we look like we can compete over a game with anyone. It's going to be a fun ride. And I haven't been able to say that in a long time.

This is what CMW wanted to do last year. Just didn't have enough players to do it. This team is deep and talented. He can play a lot of different combinations and still be better than the other team. I'm sure we will lose a few while we are working out our optimum line ups, but this team has the talent to go a long way.

They look like a team that could have better chemistry and have enough talent to be a problem in conference. I flat out hate Purdue but respect Painter and think he is a class act. As good as Ivey was, I think he was a net negative for the team.

They all kinda feel that way these days.

What difference would have this years depth have made to last years record? To me, it's the difference between winning and losing close games. Guys still need to figure out roles and coaches need to figure out who plays the best together. But the pieces are there. I think we get better as the year goes on and we will have a chance to be really good at the end of the year. I also believe we have the right guy leading the program. It's going to be a fun ride.

Did most of us miss something with him? He looks like he belongs and plays with confidence. I love his size and the promise of what he will be down the road.

We are the most critical group of people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing (on line). I trust that CMW will figure all of this out as we go. The talent is there to do great things this season. Guys just have to figure out their roles and get in sync.

Maybe we shock the world and only lose by 40 and walk away feeling good about ourselves.

They will name their score. I would suggest starting a walk on qb and keeping anyone else deemed important off the field. Use only running plays and use the entire play clock every time. Even then, they may well score 70 plus.

Are there more band members than fans in the stands right now.

Dead man walking for the next two years. We'll ride this out and start from scratch again. With conference TV money, the fans don't matter anymore. If we show up, we get paid.

Are we embarking on a new low standard for IU football?

Exactly. The last thing I would want to be this year is IU's quarterback. The higher quality girls wouldn't even be worth it.

However CMW wants to portray it is fine with me. I don't need to know every little thing that goes on within the program. If you have played sports at any level you know that things look differently from the inside than they do from the outside. Certain things are best left behind closed doors. We, as fans, don't need to know.

When I see old game film of the IU teams with Isaiah, I am astounded all over by how good he was. Of all the great point guards that IU has had during my years of watching, and there have been a bunch, Thomas is clearly the best. IU doesn't win the title in '81 without him. Obviously, just my opinion.

The caveat being the level of competition, this is a much different team than last years. There is more athleticism, more scoring, and more reliable depth. It almost feels like last seasons ceiling is this teams floor. It will undoubtedly be more enjoyable than we have seen in a long time.

I feel really bad for him. He should never have been a reclassify, and those who supported that did him a great disservice. He was not physically ready for college and should have never left high school when he did. I hope he finds himself again and enjoys playing basketball with success.

Maybe it's just me, but if a guy put his name in the portal, he would no longer be on my team.

When he develops a B1G body, he will be a problem for the rest of the conference.
