Yes but I don’t think it’s crazy to think he is here for his junior year. He’s a solid scorer in the paint and solid rebounder but not exceptional at either and hasn’t proven he can shoot at all. He is my favorite player on the team but he has a lot to work on before he is guaranteed a spot on a nba team Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

(2021) C Logan Duncomb to IU, to Winthrop

Bummer that is the case. I wish they were closer to Indiana and not connected Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Exactly why I don’t think Smith nor Durham will leave, next year is the year they finally get it Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I mean OSU has performed better than IU in each season since Holtmann arrived. I wouldn’t put it past them to overachieve next year and find a way to play small ball well. I will always root for IU but to dismiss Holtmann moving forward isn’t a good idea Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Curious as to why he wasn’t a gopher all along? Is his uncle new to the staff? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

What was your first/earliest memory of...
MikeRoberts replied to Old Friend's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
First IU memory was the 87 championship game and my parents going nuts - I was 5. I fell in love with indiana basketball in 93 when I went to a game with my dad and saw Cheaney, Graham, Bailey, Henderson etc play. I was hooked Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

(2020) SF Jordan Geronimo to Maryland
MikeRoberts replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That’s kinda the point. More than half of the roster is of players he has recruited and chose to bring in yet the players that get the most run are the guys he inherited and would not recruit if he had the choice... something is wrong there He has had the opportunity to bring in better talent whether it be from freshmen, juco, graduate transfer to take on the lions share of the minutes yet it’s the problem players and players “he got stuck with” that gets all the playing time. There is the truth and that is that he has had a hard time recruiting upgrades and fulfilling needs. Case and point leaving two unfulfilled scholarships when we were in obvious need of shooters I just hate people throwing Creans recruits under the bus and using them as scapegoats for Archie when he utilized them a ton Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Interesting that you don’t think he would have recruited them yet he plays them more than anyone else Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Mike Roberts Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Edit: no joke, that is the catalyst for my name that I have had for like 15 years across several boards. He was THE worst basketball player I have ever seen step foot on the court for Indiana including walk-ons. The worst and just funny that he is back on the bench where he spent his entire 4 years as a player

Interesting take. I would have said this kid would thrive in a fast pace offense and a defense that is encouraged to gamble and cause counters like Crean’s teams. Archie is quite the opposite and hope he can do things in spite of the system Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
It truly is nice to see you so on board as you were anything but when it came to Crean and for the most part for good reason. What he has cost me and a lot of fans is lack of enjoyment. We have lost 1/3 of all games he’s coached by double digits. It hasn’t been 1 season or 2 but all 3 seasons. there is something majorly wrong there for his team to not get off the bus or out of their dorm room 1/3 of the time. I had plans as I usually do to travel to Champagne, Ann Arbor, West Lafayette, Bloomington etc to see them play and after doing so the last 2 years and getting massacred each time I said to hell with it. It’s one thing to go down with a fight and it is another to lay down and die and that has been an on-going theme since he stepped foot in Bloomington Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I disagree. The OP posted stats on progress so only natural to agree where one sees it and point out where there hasn’t been enough Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

That’s part of what bothers me the most is that after 3 years there is still no semblance of an offensive identity. We aren’t great in the half court and we don’t push the tempo. Our defense, while not terrible isn’t one that causes tons of turnovers that allows for us to change pace and counter. I just don’t know what we are trying to do? What does a well oiled Archie offense look like? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

We didn’t even make the NIT so a far cry from the NCAAs. Expectations were to be competitive and not get our doors blown off over and and over and not just by ranked teams but to non NCAA teams and not just on the road but at home. It was a horrible season by almost any measure. Dog stomped in 1/3 of our games Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Are you trying to make the case that it was a successful season? I’m not sure you have a leg to stand on there. The bar was set extremely low for there to be progress and yes double digit blowouts, I believe second most in IU history right behind Creans first team of walk-ons is not success Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

16-15, blowout loss after blowout loss after blowout loss. If I actually typed that for as many times as it happened than I would get arthritis in my thumbs Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
-
It is improvement but when the bar is lowered so far to begin with... Look, I’m in the belief that 16-15 season was a complete and utter failure as was the 19-16 season. The amount of blowout losses and losses to poor teams and showing no fight and no heart was crushing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

This is nutty. Phinisee, Lander and Durham are going to get the lions share of minutes and Leal, Galloway and franklin will back them up. If those backups end up lighting the world on fire we might see some 3 guard lineups to get them more run and balloon that 80 minutes to 120. Al is going to be a huge part of the team and suggesting he should leave is idiocy Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
-
The only player that is coming in next year, potentially, that is as good or better currently than Al is Lander. We were thin at guard and not good at that position either. Our other freshmen are not going to fix that right away, your giving them way to much credit/expectations. We need Al to come back and improve his 3 point shot to 40% and find ways to get open for kick outs from Lander. There is nobody else that is likely to be at 40% next year - he is our best shooter and we suck at shooting Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

But he speaks the truth and has the #1 radio show at 3pm on Wednesday’s in C and D counties in Indiana on AM radio Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

No it isn’t. He will likely be a two year captain and get as much playing time as he can handle. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Not to mention that would throw off class balance. That was a two man class plus Brunk and Brunk will be gone after next season and the odds of TJD doing a senior speech are slim. That class could be without representation Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
