  1. Fife is taller. But yeah, I'd give Fife the nod due to his previous experience. But I would view them as 1a and 1b, and would like to see them work together, head coach and associate head coach, to restore the program. That's if we decide to go the up and comer route.
  2. No way they locked someone down last night and we have gone all day without a peep. Nothing is that tight.
  3. Well there's two wins next year. :)
  4. Nope. No spring break this year.
  5. I wouldn't classify it as "horrible." A risky longshot, yes. Absolutely.
  6. Exactly. He adapted to the situation. When they played the Runnin Rebels in 1987 he knew they would have to up the tempo to win. So they went on to out score them. And off to the Championship they went.
  7. No way you finish the deal and wait till wed to announce. That seems silly.
  8. Maybe he has a girl in his room? :)
  9. I saw one show where Kyle Horsby said Knight would make them stand on the baseline and stare at the banners. They where required to know the years of each championship.
  10. I think you need to compare him to Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern. He can walk into every recruit's home at tell them why he picked IU. Guys who have lived it can make it real. Guys who haven't are just "used car salesman" as one mom told us.
  11. At this point I would rather give an IU guy who wants to be here a chance to come in a build a program. Can’t be any worse than we have been.
  12. The conferences, Horizon and Missouri Valley don’t generally get at large bids. So he’s subject to the crapshoot of a conference tournament.
  13. If you want him, better not let him leave Indiana tonight.
  14. Ok, here's where you don't let him out of Indiana.
  15. If Loyola makes the Cinderalla run, they'll be tied. Then what? :)
  16. And then we may be saying "oh chit" when we lose to Minny.
  17. Who's an "elite" coach? Stevens has zero national championships. Beard, won a few extra tourny games a year ago. Drew, hasn't been past the sweet 16 for several years. Beline lost 2 championships, which makes hime the Buffalo Bills of the NCAA (along with Stevens). Mata lost one. Etc. Etc. Etc. Granted, they all had success. But "elite" success? Can they get over that hump at IU? Past results are not an indication of future results -- good or bad. There are no truly "elite" coaches available. We have to find one, who can develop into one -- no matter who they are -- power 5 re-tread, mid major up and commer, etc. They are all crapshoots -- some bigger than others.
  18. Underwood is saying “oh chit” didn’t see that train coming.
  19. Unfortunately you don’t become elite by saying you’re elite. You need to start winning games and championships over a sustained period. Starts with a coach that can over achieve to build the program.
  20. I’m not big on NBA guys. Completely different game.
  21. The MVC generally doesn’t get at large bids, so the only way they get in is to win the conference tournament. That’s always a crapshoot. Guy can coach lesser talent in a team concept. Was kind of nice watching a team hit its free throws.
  22. His motivational speech before the game was simple. “For those of you who didn’t get an offer from UofI go show them their mistake.”
  23. Alphabetical order. :). But yeah Fife has some head coach experience. So give him the nod.
  24. Loyola is a tough place to recruit. Kinda the red headed step child of DePaul (which has inexplicably sucked for years). They have a rich auto dealer alum who built them a stadium years ago. Moser has done a darn good job under those circumstances. It’s still a Crean/Miller hire — will it translate?
  25. After the masshole saga I am all in for an “IU guy.” Fife, with Lewis and Hulls as assistants.
