As is the follow up of them sitting together with the white board.
-
Again stealing Brumdogs' comments, "made a run" is not some dude contacting his agent to see if there is any interest in talking. The media is playing many of you.
-
With three or 4 target coaches still playing how can you say that? He can't talk to any of the "good" ones yet, so give it time. But Scott should quash the rumors if they are BS.
-
Dolson needs to refute some of these rumors then. If he didn't reach out to Holtman, he should say so -- something like "It's professional courtesy, I am not interested in poaching another Big10 rival's head coach." Letting it sit out their makes it look bad or makes it true.
-
Probably came from Holtmann trying to make IU look foolish.
-
Look, I get it. He's not my first choice. He's local to me and Cam is from my hometown as well -- a year older than my kid, so they played with/against each other growing up. (So that's my bias) But realistically, do we have a chance at the top two coaches -- Oats and Muss and/or maybe Drew? Seriously, when you really sit and look at it honestly. Sure we can offer a bunch of money, but so can their current schools. They have pretty good gigs right now, and can parlay IU interest into a raise and extension. Maybe if they weren't the hottest thing going right now and suffering a down year, but they all coach one of the final 16 teams and are high seeds to boot. Maybe it works out and Scott pulls that rabbit out of a hat. But realistically, we better start getting comfortable with the best of the rest. Sorry to pee on everyone's Cheerios.

Just enter the transfer portal. :)

How about a combination of both. A 4* system, whether Loyola or Wisconsin, or whatever, can always be adapted for that 5* player. Much, much harder to get normal college players to successfully play in a true NBA style system.
-
Yes, but the first time he went to the final 4 and the second is the sweet 16 and still playing. Better than most of these 1 and done guys, including the Big 10 coaches.
-
No, but he did guard Michael Jordan once.
-
My opinion is Scott made a big error in being so secret. He should have said that he was going to interview everyone cause you just never know and the search will like go on until after the tourney because he’ll likely want to interview a few of those guys as well. Then he could go and push for Stevens and if successful nobody would care about anyone else. When Stevens fell apart he could spend time interviewing the long shots while he waits until the tourney coaches become available. Nobody would expect anything until after the tourney. What he has now is a situation where Stevens flamed out and the search look lost in the wilderness.

From an earlier article, if Moser makes the final 4, he'll be one of 3 mid major coaches to do 2 final 4s within 4 years. The other two -- Tarkanian and the golden boy himself, Stevens. That's pretty good company (and doesn't mean he should be IUs coach).
-
He won’t hire anyone tomorrow because they are all still playing. Wait till after Tuesday to see some movement.
-
The question is could he, or would he, adapt his style to the better players he'd be able to recruit. They way they smaked U of I was pretty impressive.
-
Agreed. The call should be "hey Brad, Angie fd you. Last chance."
-
It's logical, but still probably unlikely. Maybe.
-
All the top candidates other than Beard are still playing. Unfoturnately, it's probably not until Wed when any of them would be available. Barring any upsets, at least one or two will be available to talk to.
-
The article said it puts him in the company of Tark and Stevens.
-
Well their biggest issue is the supposed "fishbowl" that is IU. I don't want a wuss @$$ coach afraid of the "fishbowl." You want to be the best, you have to run with the big dogs.
-
I want the stupid tournament to be playing today, tomorrow and Sat/Sun so we can go after those coaches still on the list (unlikely they all make the finals).
-
So basically Brad sux as a coach. Let's move down the list. :)
-
Coaching a IL State and Loyola is hard. Those really aren't places full of basketball prowess. I'd give him points for the success he's had at Loyola. Not saying he's the guy, but a place like IU is a much easier place to attract talent.
-
Hey, easy on my guy Cam. :)
-
Nah. He'll stay put before he goes to Marquette. No reason to uproot the family and his Chicago ties for freaking Milwaukee. He's got a good thing -- Chicago basketball generally sux and he's the hottest name in town. I'm not even sure he'd move up the road a few blocks to DePaul. I'll bet he stays at Loyola, unless a real program calls.

"Hi Indiana Elite. This is Scott. When we are winning championships again we won't be recruiting anyone from Indiana Elite. We'll make it known that if a player wants to play for the reining Big10 and NCAA champions, they should find another AAU program." Bottom line -- winning cures everything.
