  1. Also, I wonder how much blame OSU's fanbase will get for Holtmann's failures, or if we're the only ones who intimidate our coaches into under-performing.
  2. Not inaccurate. I guess I'm just frustrated that they're aggressively going for an upgrade when something isn't working while we sit around and fear-monger.
  3. It will be interesting to see if a Twitter mob attacks OSU's administration for being a bunch of meanies and firing their coach. We all know social media virtue signalers live rent free in our administrations' heads.
  4. So, a football school doesn't even wait for the season to end to fire its basketball coach, after firing the previous coach, who just happened to be the winningest coach they've ever had. It must be nice to have an athletic department managed by people who demand excellence, aren't interested in excuses, and don't give a damn about "optics," people's feelings or what anyone says about them on social media. They just expect greatness and they usually get it. Their athletic department puts ours to shame.
  5. I had to go back 10 freaking pages to find a post I wanted to quote today. You'd think eventually we'd get bored with it.
  6. The phrase "proven coach" gets thrown around a lot. Even a proven coach could fail here. You have to consider how that coach fits here as well. Archie Miller was a horrible fit. It wasn't even so much his personality; he just didn't view this job as anything more than a promotion. Chris Beard seems to be the poster-coach for "proven." His comments about trying to abstain from drinking for an entire season make me think he wouldn't be a good fit here. This job is incredibly stressful. We saw what it did to Crean (panic attack after a Big Ten tourney loss) and Miller (lost a noticeable amount of weight while he was here and claimed he was on a diet). It would no doubt be stressful for Beard. What do alcoholics do when they're stressed? They drink, often excessively, and it rarely ends well. Our next hire is going to be a gamble no matter who it is.
  7. Wouldn't mind trading places with Iowa and beating Purdue a third time.
  8. I don't think he has the recruiting chops to succeed at this level. BSU's previous coach was soft as Charmin, and so were his players. I thought Lewis did an outstanding job last season. Then the portal gutted his roster and he had to start over. BSU fans hate this team. The players he has now are even softer and play scared most of the time. Their season in a nutshell was the end of a home loss to Miami: up 11 with 5 minutes to go, slowly gave back their lead, Miami had a chance to tie on the final possession and the BSU coaches were screaming at them to foul. No one fouled, Miami hit a 3 at the buzzer and went on to dominate the overtime. Had a BSU fan tell me: "the Bob Knight tough-guy schtick is a lot less amusing when Little Rock is beating you 90-55." It's crazy how different Lewis and Woodson are in their styles. Lewis tries too hard to be like Knight and Woodson is nothing like him at all.
  9. We have the worst backcourt in the conference, if not all of P5. I just can't wrap my head around this. If the guards we pursued didn't want to compete with Galloway and X for playing time, then we were after the wrong ones. And if Woodson really wanted to achieve the goals he stated when he was hired, he should have realized they weren't good enough and told X to move on. Most coaches would have been done with him after his little jaunt down Walnut anyway.
  10. I've felt for awhile now the lack of adding any guards last spring had a lot less to do with guards not wanting to play here and a lot more to do with Woodson not wanting to put in the effort to get them here.
  11. Is he held accountable in any way for anything he says? Winning coaches don't say things like this in February.
  12. They're 19-5 a year after playing in the Final Four. Our fans would be giddy if we had that right now.
  13. I will admit that I'm not real plugged in when it comes to women's basketball programs outside of IU, so maybe I'm missing something here. But in 3 years at Purdue, Gearlds missed the tournament her first year, was one of the last four in a year ago, and is on track to miss it again this year, with a team that starts 4 seniors, and is currently tied for 12th in the conference. She's 0-6 against IU. Yet I'm seeing positive chatter a lot of places about how they've got a good one, even after we beat them by 32. Is it just relative to Versyp? Like I said, maybe I'm not aware of something, but I do remember how Moren's 3rd season here ended: after a Big Ten tournament loss to Purdue that allowed them to take our NCAA bid and sent us to the WNIT, fans were upset that Glass had screwed up another hire. Difference in standards, maybe? I don't know.
  14. Nebraska did us a favor today, but MSU was a no-show. If we manage to beat Iowa at home we might need them to win when they host OSU.
  15. Huge recruiting tool if we can win this by 30+. Hope we don't let up at the end.
  16. Iowa was up 14 after three quarters at Nebraska and lost. They had a 12 point lead in the 4th quarter at OSU and lost. For having the best player in women's basketball, they haven't been great at finishing close games.
  17. Nebraska upsets Iowa 82-79. Clark missed a 3, Iowa got an offensive rebound and missed another 3 at the buzzer. Need MSU to upset OSU and we'll be in first.
  18. Nebraska just hit a 3 to go up by 1 over Iowa with 30 seconds left.
  19. I read 0:03 as 3 seconds, not three-tenths. I think it's one of those things where people see it so often, they just assume it's correct.
  20. I hate it when people are mentioning time left in a basketball game that's less than one second and write three-tenths of a second as 0.03. That's not three-tenths, that's three-hundredths. Three-tenths is 0.3. We learned this in fifth grade.
  21. It would also be our 4th coach in 17 seasons. But I'm the one twisting things to fit a narrative.
  22. You say that like it's a bad thing.
  23. It's really pretty astounding what a slow and steady race to the bottom we've been on since the Mike Davis years. Crazy to think he was tarred and feathered just for missing a tournament. Ever since then, we miss it more than we make it, we struggle like hell to finish in the upper half of our conference and now we not only have fans who are mocked for living in the past, we have a team that plays like it's stuck in the past, too. It's honestly reached a point where I'm not even sure it's fixable, no matter who inevitably replaces Woodson.
  24. Host sites are determined well before the tournament starts so that the host schools have time to prepare and make sure they have staff who can work the event. Doing that on 1-2 days notice wouldn't be easy. In your scenario of switching hosts, not really fair to the staff of one school to make them host another team's sectional when their own team is playing elsewhere.
  25. Gonna stop you right here. This is a myth perpetuated by social media and people believing things they see too often. We gave Mike Davis 6 years and Tom Crean was here almost a decade. We do NOT have a revolving door. Fans just think we do because we've hired so many failures in a row. If anything, we've been far too patient.
