  1. Two more Illini layups since I posted that. We're getting carved up.
  2. It's a layup drill for Illinois right now. Have to figure out how to stay in front of their guards.
  3. Last meeting and last year we really struggled to contain Cook. If she goes off again today we could be in trouble.
  4. Not that it matters, but I heard similar things before Crean was fired; "he's in deep," "has deep ties to the right people," "so and so will be outraged if we fire him," etc.
  5. Once the Boomers start cancelling their tickets, this program is in trouble. That generation still faithfully watches and goes to games because it's what they've always done. Nothing is being done to get younger people interested or excited about IU basketball. It's just stale and stuffy to them, and not worth their time.
  6. "We have talent, we just need to try harder!" --has been a coping mechanism going back to the Archie years.
  7. Just went back and watched highlights...from 2016, when we beat them by 32. That was the game that made Gregg Doyel wag his finger at our fanbase and tell us to behave because our students were mean to Bryant McIntosh. Halcyon days.
  8. Back in the day, Northwestern coming in here and shooting 35% would mean a blowout win for us. This program just sucks.
  9. I'd be a lot more surprised if Chris came on here and said he thinks he'll be gone. It's just how athletic departments operate. Coaches are employed until they aren't, and they don't want any leaks if a change is coming. It's not fair to the coaches or the players.
  10. They're eye candy to the people who cast votes. They'll probably still get first place votes tomorrow. The nice thing about them losing on a Sunday is there's no time for the 5 or so teams ranked right below them to all lose before the polls update again.
  11. OSU will miss the one and one and Purdue will score again.
  12. Has Northwestern ever won back to back in Assembly Hall? Might be seeing another first today.
  13. Referred to him as Kory instead of Flory...I'd forgotten about that one. I was assured at the time that butchering a recruit's name was no big deal and wouldn't factor into his decision, although this was when we were still in the honeymoon phase of the Woodson era.
  14. This thread is reminding me of when I was a kid and my Nintendo DS kindly suggested I take a break because I'd been playing too long.
  15. On one hand, it's nice to know that Holtmann getting axed caused a stir in our athletic department. That shows that at least someone is paying attention and thinking about the effect it could have on our program. On the other hand, it's also kind of annoying that it took someone else's coach getting fired to elicit that response. "Not fall further behind" implies that they know we're behind right now...yet they've wanted to keep this regime for another year.
  16. I've paid less attention to Big Ten basketball this year than any year I can remember. There's just nothing interesting or compelling about it at all.
  17. Had a feeling that could be a problem when our schedule came out. It also didn't help that we scheduled fewer games than other teams.
  18. He won't get a single foul in the second half and Purdue will win by double digits.
  19. I'd be down with any offense that favors passing over dribbling. Seems like for the past decade plus, we've had guards that stand and dribble while pointing in various directions to give the impression that a play of some sort is attempting to be run.
  20. I guess that one went over your head. I "took the opportunity" because the men's team never wins there. Football won its last time in Madison, but doesn't go there very often. The baseball team never goes there at all because UW doesn't have baseball. The women's team of course has won there pretty frequently but they didn't play there last season.
  21. Even though it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they decide to be soft and give him another year because they're worried about what people will think of them if they don't, this seems like the mindset one would expect with a month left in the season. If there's any talk at all of getting him to step down, they don't want that getting out with this much time left. I mean, just think of what people would say about them on social media if they thought we were going to force him to retire! All those mean and nasty comments about how ungrateful we are and how we have no respect for someone who did the improbable and took us to back to back tournaments. No doubt all kinds of comments that would keep them up at night.
  22. Always nice to win at Wisconsin. Don't get to say that too often, so I'm not wasting an opportunity here.
  23. My guess is they know who they want, and they want to start pursuing that coach before anyone else can.
  24. Remember when Mike Davis, on the verge of missing the tournament for a third straight season (sacrilege back then, not unusual today), announced he would step down when the season ended, and the team reeled off 5 straight wins and started having fun again? It sure would be awesome if IU reached out to Dusty May, got a yes from him, convinced Woodson this was for the best, and we got hot to end the year. But we're IU fans and we can't have nice things, so that's an alternate timeline we'll never experience.
