Successful coaches don't see themselves being anything but successful. They're not worried about how long (or short) of a leash they get. It's why I've always hated that we give coaches massive contracts with enormous buyouts to protect them from their own potential failure. The bigger problem we face today is that without our dusty banners, we're basically just Illinois or Iowa, and not really a step up the ladder for a lot of the coaches the fanbase covets.

This isn't the NBA where you get rewarded for being bad. Last season showed this program can still contend and achieve a high ranking. It's much more difficult to convince someone this is still a good job if we're coming off 7 straight missed tournaments.

I think there are a couple reasons we're seeing these mental gymnastics from Purdue fans: 1) They're a little embarrassed they needed that big of an advantage to win a home game over an unranked team they traditionally expect to beat, especially a team that beat them earlier this season, 2) They know they won't get anywhere near this type of officiating in March, and without it, they're in trouble. I think it's funny how hard they're riding the "NU shot a ton of 3's" narrative when NU only shot six more than Purdue did.

Sorry, but being worse the last 2 years (without even knowing what our roster might have looked like sans TJD) doesn't have us in a better spot now. This program needs all the help it can get. This season has sucked, but let's not pretend last year wasn't a net positive in the long run.

Was Woodson one of those coaches? Is Woodson reciprocating Sisley's interest? That means a heck of a lot more than anything the assistants are doing.

Sisley feels like another recruit who will end up at Purdue because IU had a low-energy recruiter who didn't spend enough time on him, much like Archie Miller and Trey Kauffman. Strange how Woodson is suddenly attending high school games. Must be feeling the heat lately.

Maryland has scored on 13 straight possessions and we're still up double digits. Just keep the lead over 10 and we're fine. I doubt they can sustain this for another 10 minutes.

He's done this before. There were at least 2 instances early this season where he went down grabbing his foot and had to be helped off the floor and I thought "yep, he's done." Then he played the next game with no ill effects. Maybe he's just a hypochondriac?

Further proof that "Hall of Calls" is dead: the "foul" on Cupps with 8:43 to play when Dix blew by him and scored. If Cupps even touched him at all, it was barely a tap on the arm. Zero chance a ref even thinks about calling that back in the day.

It's crazy that Iowa fans want to move on from him when he's made 4 straight tournaments. We haven't done that in over 2 decades, and it's been even longer than that since they reached a Sweet 16. McCaffery is probably their ceiling as a program in today's game.

It may seem trivial, but being 0-5 against Iowa wasn't something Mike Woodson needed. Kind of weird that now the only Big Ten team he's never beaten is one he never lost against as a player.

I think the only win I've felt good about afterwards was at Michigan. The rest of the wins we either had a long stretch of ineptitude or did just enough to survive. Nothing this team does ever feels like it's sustainable.
