Four new teams joining next season makes 18 teams, only 15 will play in the conference tourney.

I'd like to think this part isn't true, because not only is IU way too patient with coaches (see: Davis, Crean, Miller), but successful coaches aren't worried about not doing well or how much time they get. When you're a successful coach, you think about things like winning, overachieving and how you're going to be a rockstar when you do it.

Reportedly, our AD at the time (Greenspan) wanted to hire John Beilein from WVU, but IU's president at the time (Adam Herbert) wanted a minority coach, so we got Sampson instead. Even when we actually hired a good coach, it was the result of someone pushing an agenda.

I expected them to go for the win. Doesn't make a lot of sense to play for overtime if a win means playing again tomorrow.

Not that anyone should care, or that it was even hard to predict, but after OSU fired Holtmann I said OSU, Louisville and maybe even Michigan would all upgrade their coaches in the offseason while we sat back and wasted another year on Woodson. This program just sucks.

I think the entire Big Ten is just over Zach Edey at this point.

So, let's recap what's happened since the "anonymous source" told the Indystar Woodson was back: --our only '24 recruit decommits --Louisville and Michigan fired their coaches, with Michigan firing a coach who was more successful than Woodson --we lose by 30+ (ok, 27, guess I jumped the "Gunn" on this one) to Nebraska and Woodson gets tossed Only people motivated by reasons that don't include winning would be ok with keeping this guy around.

I seriously thought to myself at the under-4 timeout, well at least we aren't going to be down 20 at the half again. This season can do go die in a fire.

High school officials, from what I've seen over the years, seem to err on the side of counting a basket. I guess these guys were a different breed.

The timing of everything has been so strange. Chris had been of the opinion that Woodson was getting another year as recently as mid-February. Around the time of the Northwestern and Nebraska home losses, it seemed like he started to shift a little. While the Maryland game was going on, he said he was trying to confirm a rumor that we would be getting a new coach regardless of how the rest of the season went. This chatter lasted about 3 days, then we get the bizarre announcement from an anonymous source 2 hours before a Wednesday night game. To me, it felt like something got out too early, too many people heard about it, and when the athletic department realized how many people on this board were discussing it, they wanted it silenced. I still think if it were 100% confirmed he was back, we'd get an actual statement with Dolson's name attached. Or maybe I'm giving IU too much credit.

I'm wondering if he was given some sort of gag order by higher-ups.

Kind of what I was thinking. Weird to take a dump on the fans like this and expect them to show up and support you next year.

Our NET ranking is in the 90's. An at-large bid is gone.

We'll either be the 6 or 7 seed, depending on what Iowa does tonight. If we had lost, we would have been 8 or 9.

The ref who called that foul on Mgbako with two minutes left shouldn't do another game this season. That was beyond awful.

Crazy to think we blew out both of these teams and we're wondering if we'll even get a protected seed.

The donors who are staunchly in Woodson's corner must be getting REALLY desperate if they're cool with the idea of purchasing a roster full of players from other programs just to see what happens next year. Hard for me to wrap my mind around how they approve of that given how starkly different it is from the way Knight's teams and program were put together, but I guess desperation will do that to people.

Also, you know why we have this mess, a mess you think is worse than what he had at FAU? BECAUSE OF MIKE WOODSON!!!

And you know what he did after that? Built a winning program. You know what he didn't do? Sit around blaming others and making excuses. I'd kill to have a coach like that. It's been forever.
