Although Payton Sparks isn't here anymore, he could be another example. The other night I saw a couple comments from BSU fans saying he put on a ton of muscle in the time he was here and now he looks slow and awkward.

I guess winning by 19 is better than winning by 9. Hard to feel great about a game where we had 16 turnovers.

Going to be watching him carefully this year. If he struggles all year, our staff needs to seriously evaluate what they're doing with guards.

Think of all the restless fans of other programs who will be unhappy with how their coach's first season is going and point to what Cignetti has done here. We're setting a standard that will be just about impossible to replicate. We're probably also going to prompt Purdue to fire Walters pretty soon, which annoys me not only because I like Purdue being awful way more than them being good, but because I was hoping they'd make the mistake we've made many times of thinking just giving a bad coach more time will fix things.

If ISU holds on, the justification for ranking them above us will be that they're a resilient team that's won 3 times after trailing in the fourth quarter. Of course, the fact that we haven't trailed in the fourth quarter at all, or even in the second half, will be nothing more than a footnote.

This reminds me of a time when my dad took me out for breakfast and I had to spend 15 minutes listening to a heated argument between an elderly couple about whether the wife should be ordering the half size or full size biscuits and gravy.

I guess that's one way to look at it, if you ignore everything leading up to then. The Fever were two years removed from one of the worst seasons in league history. To go from that to the playoffs in just two years was pretty impressive.
