  1. Every time I think he can't possibly come up with another diamond in the rough/unicorn/cheat code of a player, he finds one. I think Purdue being picked where they are has more to do with Painter than anyone on their roster.
  2. So, we getting this kid? This is usually the part where some random school enters the chat.
  3. I got to thinking about this the other day: how did Purdue manage to keep Joe Tiller for 12 seasons? I know the latter half of his tenure was pretty pedestrian, but his first four years they were 9-3, 9-4, 7-5 and 8-4 with a Big Ten title and Rose Bowl berth. Zero chance any Purdue coach makes it past four years with those numbers today; maybe not even past year two. Are programs just that desperate to win? Is social media amplifying more thoughts and desires into existence? I remember hearing that Tiller wasn't an attractive option at that time because of his age, but he was 53 when Purdue hired him, a whole decade younger than Cignetti is now. I get that times change and we have to change with them, but I don't think I'm ever going to like how certain college athletic programs are nothing but feeder systems for those with more money and prestige.
  4. Looks like you're correct. The football team was ranked in December of '93 and basketball was ranked for all of the '93-'94 season.
  5. When is the last time we had a ranked football team and a ranked basketball team at the same time? The last time we were ranked in football, Archie Miller was busy sucking the life out of the basketball program. I'm guessing maybe sometime in the early 90's?
  6. Death, taxes, and Big Ten officials protecting one of their sacred cows. Minnesota recovers an onside kick late, refs decide to say they were offsides on the kick when they weren't.
  7. Is there a Big Ten team that's going to suffer from the schedule reshuffling more than Purdue? They only have three home games left and two of them are against top 10 teams, plus they play at OSU. Brohm got out at the perfect time.
  8. The kick was blocked, and as a Washington player got the ball and started to run it back, he ran onto the field, right in front of the official.
  9. Don't know if it was mentioned last night, but in the game between Washington and Rutgers, Washington blocked a field goal attempt. A Washington player on the sideline couldn't stop himself from running onto the field to celebrate, and the nearest official called a penalty on the Huskies for 12 defenders on the field. It gave Rutgers a first down and they got a touchdown moments later.
  10. IU vs. UK in a New Year's Six bowl? (I have no idea how the tie-ins work, just a random thought)
  11. Let's get a safety here, just for fun.
  12. Apparently roughing the passer now includes getting pushed into the QB.
  13. Hudson Card just threw his weekly pick-six and Purdue is down 28-3. lol
  14. Elbow hits first, but they'll say it's too close.
  15. Following in the NFL's footsteps and basically eliminating kickoffs...neat.
  16. My eyes must be playing tricks on me...I could have sworn the Maryland kick returner called for a fair catch on the 5 yard line.
  17. I'll keep saying it: the Tom Allen years broke this fanbase.
  18. They used to use a 1-2 format. Tamika Catchings' first playoff game was a home win followed by two losses on the road. In 2010, they switched to 1-1-1. I'm not sure when they went to the current format, but it is ridiculous. Not only is a lower seed not hosting a game wrong, but the lower seed potentially hosting the decisive game seems wrong as well.
  19. Andy Katz sure has gone out of his way to display affection for Purdue lately. "Top 10 Juniors" lol. Like anyone has ever wondered who the best juniors are in college basketball.
  20. Wouldn't surprise me if someone convinced him Woodson may not be around by next season if things don't improve here. Just the reality of having an old coach under pressure. I think Sisley wants to play for IU more than he wants to play for Woodson. I've been craving an elite point guard ever since Yogi and we just can't ever seem to land one. It's frustrating.
  21. Man, it's amazing what people can talk themselves into believing when they spend enough time here.
  22. Would love to see it. I've been pining for a killer class for as long as I can remember, and every year, for one reason or other, it usually fails to happen. Maybe the days of thinking we're landing an elite player, only to have somebody else come in and slip him some $$$ are finally behind us.
  23. Is it too early to think Cignetti for us could be what Brohm was for Purdue?
  24. Meanwhile, Jeff Brohm is 13-4 since he got to Louisville and has them ranked #19. Looks like Brady Allen made the right choice.
