  1. I wasn't trying to say that. A blueblood doesn't keep Mike Davis after back to back years of no postseason (and probably doesn't hire him to start with). A blueblood doesn't let that coach intimidate the university into feeling like they have to hire a minority. A blueblood doesn't bring in a coach under investigation and let his impending punishment handicap them, then self-report him for something as silly as phone calls and let it nuke the program. A blueblood doesn't give Tom Crean a 10-year contract and then extend him after a Sweet 16 run, then let him coach 2-3 years past his expiration date. I like Archie Miller and I think he can be great here. I just hate the narrative that we had to settle because we weren't good enough for our top targets. But when you look back over the last 15 years, we've kind of brought it on ourselves.
  2. We can't blame Glass for what Sampson left us in, but if we go a full decade without a Final Four, we deserve it. We kept Mike Davis for too long, hired a known cheater, then kept Tom Crean for too long. We aren't in the conversation with the bluebloods anymore because we don't act like a blueblood.
  3. Good thing we kept Tom Crean for so long. If timing was the reason we didn't get Donovan, then Glass blew it two years ago when he chose to keep a proven failure that's not wanted by any high major program now. I'm intrigued by Miller, but not overly excited. I want to be big-time. It pisses me off how the national media repeatedly scoffed at us for even thinking we could get an NBA coach. Miller may make us elite, but it's far less of a sure thing.
  4. They're dragging it out until Roy retires so they can claim the new staff had nothing to do with it.
  5. Didn't look at it that closely. Yeah, I'd say it's him.
  6. The account isn't verified, but then again, I'm not sure how popular you have to be to get an account verified.
  7. "State champs." LOL. That's the most Purdue thing ever.
  8. I think this NIT run has been better for the team than losing in the first or second round of the NCAA's would have been.
  9. Arizona's postseason history is littered with heartbreaking collapses, but usually it doesn't happen until they're in the Elite 8. I remember watching them lose to Illinois in overtime after being up 15 with about 4 minutes left. I would never get over that.
  10. 3 intense games tonight....and an epic beatdown. lol
  11. Last weekend against MSU, Kansas was only up by 1 with 12 minutes to go. They ended the game with a 36-17 run. Tonight against Purdue, it was 58-54. They outscored them 40-12 after that. I wish we could do that to teams.
  12. It honestly looked like Purdue quit in the second half...or maybe the Kansas guards are just that fast. No idea how we managed to beat that team.
  13. Come on Kansas, get 100! I hope Purdue fans wake up in a cold sweat this offseason hearing the "rock chalk" chant.
  14. My faith has been restored. Purdue being Purdue; totally dominated in the second half. I had a bad feeling this might be the year they finally had the perfect combination to go all the way: a balanced roster, everyone healthy all year, a down Big Ten, and college basketball as a whole being down, but in spite of everything they had going for them, they still managed to embarrass themselves. Well done, Jayhawks.
  15. Kansas has outscored Purdue 59-27 since Purdue had an 8 point lead.
  16. Purdue finally misses a 3 and all 260 pounds of Swanigan goes flying off the court to draw a foul.
  17. It really sucks how in the last 7-8 years, we've not only lacked postseason success, but we've had to watch nearby programs go on deep runs. Butler and their back to back title games, UK with a title as well as a surprise run, Michigan going all the way to the final game, UK almost going undefeated...all while we sit at home and watch. It honestly sucks.
  18. Purdue is on fire. I think they win tonight.
  19. If you saw the Thunder play last night, they look pretty distracted already. How do you know this?
  20. We can now refer to him coaching here in the past tense...and it's a wonderful feeling.
  21. Rabjohns and Snow both thought Crean was staying.
  22. I'm not sure there was "precedent" for firing a coach a year after he was conference coach of the year, but that didn't stop us...might as well keep making history.
  23. We could have kept Crean for another season. Sometimes the writing is on the wall.
  24. Random thought, but is recker still alive? Not sure I've seen him post since Crean was fired.
  25. We didn't have to bring him back two years ago, either. But we did. We didn't have to make Bill Lynch head football coach because he carried out Hep's dream. But we did. We didn't have to let the players decide Mike Davis as our basketball coach. But we did. When you've seen poor decision after poor decision from your athletic department for a decade and a half with different people, you just kind of expect it.
