Non contact knee injuries seem to always be ACL tears but I sincerely hope not.

I would complain that we need more ball handlers SO THERE! Who's taking the ball up the court Wayne? Recently defrosted TB clone #3? I don't think so. -

Did anyone else see this article from ITH? http://www.insidethehall.com/2016/06/14/three-members-2016-recruiting-class-arriving-bloomington-week/ Is that missing the entire summer workout session? I was excited for him to join the team but now I'm kind of doubting he will be in BIG basketball shape by the start of the season. Anyone else find their expectations for this guy suddenly lowered?

UNC NCAA Allegations
ElectricBoogaloo replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They were put on a year long probation (oh no!) by the accreditation agency that monitors them. Any more screw ups and, who knows, maybe double-secret probation. http://college.usatoday.com/2015/06/11/unc-probation-accreditation-agency/ -

Eh, if the guy won't be a contributor next year then I don't know what the staff is trying to accomplish. Lots of talent available in the '17 class capable of contributing from day 1. -
Good article on AH renovation progress...

Clearly not a true Hoosier fan. During the third time-out of every second half, the Indiana pep band plays the William Tell Overture while the fans ceremonially chant "What you consume is not truly yours", then vomit throughout the arena. The chanting and the stench are an intimidation tactic meant to throw visiting players off their game. This is one of the many home court advantages enjoyed at Assembly Hall. -

This is true but you have to wonder with the 2017 class whether having an actual open scholly will make a difference. Would hate to miss on an in-state stud (Gary Harris situation) because there are no scholarships to give. -
IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?

Taking advantage of the new rules is smart for a player like Troy. It'll be fun to see what his combine numbers are. -
This was my question too. Right now I have to go back to the main page to switch between the bball forum and the recruiting forum.

Late 2016 signing/Grad Transfer
ElectricBoogaloo replied to Hoosiers219's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think it depends on the situation. If a player graduates and decides he'd rather spend his last year somewhere else, then limiting the destinations to outside the conference is reasonable. Here, though, JB is pushing Spike out the door and basically saying there's no place on the team for him. Why limit someone's options then? You just basically rated 13 other players on your team ahead of this guy but you're worried about him hurting you in the conference? It's just rubbing salt in the wound for Spike. Coaches can go wherever they want if a better job offer comes along but players can't choose their own school after getting unceremoniously dropped from the team? JB developed Spike for four years but apparently doesn't think much of the job he's done. I just don't see why he cares after choosing 13 other players ahead of him. Let's all remind ourselves that Michigan isn't full of conference all-stars. There were plenty of bums on that team last year but Spike is the one hitting the road. -

Free Market Recruiting
ElectricBoogaloo replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The "student athletes" in basketball and football generate tons of money for their schools every year. What is Indiana's pay out from BTN this year? Was $32 million last year and expected to climb past $40 million per school according to my quick Google search. I think everyone can agree that the cost of a scholarship does not fully compensate these players for the huge sums of money coming in. The only question is how much would be fair compensation. I think the only way to do it is to mimic the pro leagues. Players would need a union and have a collective bargaining agreement spelling out what % of a school's sports revenue goes to salaries. It could obviously be less of a % than the pros so schools can continue subsidizing other athletics. I don't even want to think about the legal entanglements of suddenly making the players employees of the school, but that seems like the only fair arrangement for their efforts. Like some others have said, you may have to separate the revenue generators from the school entirely. I don't even know what that would look like. (God help us) -
A lot of people before this season had accused Crean of never being able to change his coaching style. I think Tom Crean improved as a coach over the last year or so. I didn't see the momentum-killing hockey substitutions. The confusing defensive switches from early in the year were done away with/simplified. No talk of players being run into the ground during late season practices. If we can lock up some of this 2017 in-state talent then I honestly don't think there will be much left to criticize. The list of coaches I would rather see here instead of Crean has grown considerably smaller.

IU(5) vs UNC(1) Game Thread
ElectricBoogaloo replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No way anyone is beating UNC the way they are shooting tonight. Even with the awful refs. Nobody is beating a team shooting like that. I thought they would fall of after that first half but no such luck. Props to UNC for bringing their A game. -
