  1. It would take a guy like Les Miles who has the aurora and physical presence to go against Harbaugh and Meyer. Miles is only coming here is he gets big $$ for an offensive staff and recruiting budget. That would be a positive in a sense. It would require a financial commitment to football IU has never seen. Miles is a midwestern boy and would recruit splendidly. I don't want to lose Tom Allen. Ole Miss was rumored to try and bring him back as their OC. Fantasy staff would be Miles as HC, Allen as DC, and a big ticket OC. However, Miles is a defensive coach and I'm not sure Allen would stay because he'd have less say over the D with Miles. Things just got really interesting. As far as the buyout: I wonder if Wilson had a clause to bypass it given previous allegations? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  3. Saw Morgan grab his shoulder on the loose ball before the telecast went to commercial. Hope it's nothing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. This team is so close to breaking out for 8-9 wins. Fix the red zone offense and we are dangerous. Look at all of our losses, one touchdown instead of a field goal or turnover on downs in the red zone likely wins us a couple more games. Young team with lots of talent, the best overall coaching staff we've had in decades, recruiting is picking up, major facility upgrades coming soon... things are only going to get better! Next year will be fun. Open the season hosting OSU. We also host Michigan and Wisconsin (chance at three sell outs next year?). A nice out of conference matchup against a similar minded institution at UVA. Road game against Illinois. Schedule will be tough but no reason we can't at least match our win total from this year. Forget next year let's go get a bowl win! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. Florida head coach Jim McElwain, who's from the northwest, seems to be the dream candidate. Whether or not he's actually interested is another story (by some chance this happens, does that open the door for Willie Taggart at UF?). Realistic candidates appear to be Dana Holgorsen of WVU and the Boise State head coach. I also wonder if Oregon would consider bringing back Scott Frost, head coach of Central Florida? Or is that too similar to another internal hire? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. I know Carter Whitson tweeted that a few of the coaches were staying instate early this week for visits. I'd imagine Potts is a high priority. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. LOL Coach Allen is getting a raise one way or another. I hope Glass is ready to pay up! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. Wow big de-commit for ND. Wonder if it has anything to do with the rumor of Kelly's agents reaching out to other schools to see if they would be interested. Werner visited OSU this past weekend and OSU just picked up multiple CBs for Werner. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Might be hard to get a 2017 QB, most of them are committed. I know we were a finalist for Arizona commit, 4* Braxton Burmeister. Arizona had a miserable season and beat Arizona State to avoid going winless in conference. Maybe we can get back involved? It looks like we're putting a lot of effort into 4* ESPN Top 300 recruit and Colorado commit Tyler Lytle. Colorado is having a historic season and Colorado has a spectacular 2017 recruiting class so far. MacIntyre is hitting his stride as head coach. (I think Colorado can beat Washington and possibly get into the CFP if PSU beats Wisconsin) I wonder if the pitch is redshirt your first year and have a legit chance to compete to start your RS freshman year. Maybe immediate playing time in a system that gets you flashy numbers can get a kid to flip. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. Wow awesome find! Adeyanju was an animal! Really neat/sentimental seeing Hopp on the sideline as well. The crowd definitely sounds hyped! According to Wikipedia only 40,240 people were in attendance, but that was a big crowd for us back then. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. Foster Farms is a Tier 2 bowl game. Given we are the eighth eligible bowl team in the B1G we aren't likely to get one of the group of six games. At the moment, we are looking at the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit or Heart of Texas Bowl at the Cotton Bowl. There is a chance we could get into a Tier 2 bowl, especially if the B1G gets two teams into the CFP and needs to fill the lower slots. If that is the case, I think we'd much more likely be placed in the Music City Bowl given Nashville's proximity to campus and alumni, as well as the strong possibility of being paired with rival Kentucky. If I had to bet, odds are on Quick Lane, with an outside chance of Music City. I think Northwestern would be an ideal school for Foster Farms given its academics are comparable to the top Pac 12 schools and NW has a national student/alumni base with a sizable proportion coming from the West Coast. FWIW, I relieved my email from the AD yesterday for ticket requests. The four bowls listed were the four bowls I mentioned above. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  12. This is a very important recruiting period before the dead period starts in a few weeks. We have a lot of good momentum with back-to-back bowl appearances. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. Opinion on Davis's dismal at the time of the decision: http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2015/5/14/8609309/indiana-basketball-made-the-wrong-choice-in-dismissing-devin-davis Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Indiana-Kentucky could happen at the MCB! http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2016/11/25/13748544/indiana-to-the-music-city-bowl-these-scenarios-will-help We are helped by Iowa beating Nebraska. If the B1G gets two schools into the CFP our chances are increased even more! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. This is what I am thinking as well. If Washington loses to Colorado, and Wisconsin beats PSU, I don't see how Wisconsin could be left out. Their two loses are a combined fourteen points to OSU and Michigan. They beat LSU. They are an excellent football team and deserve to get in if Washington loses. If PSU beats Wisconsin, and Colorado beats Washington, who gets in? PSU or Colorado? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. I think UK will play in either the Liberty or Texas Bowl. They might play in the Music City Bowl, but Georgia could be the nod instead. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. Hmm wonder if he's already decided on the NFL? Remember, Fant was a top 150 recruit coming out. He has the game tape to backup his recruiting hype. I have no doubt he'd be drafted. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. Great win! Don't care that it was close. Rivalry games everything goes out the window. I love to clown on Purdue but it is great having a hated rival. I am confident we will be playing in Detroit for the Quick Lane Bowl. We will either face NC State or a MAC school. Book it! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  21. Oh that's awesome! I didn't know Harris was a spring enrollee. We need depth at interior defensive line. The extra semester in our program with Coach Allen and Hagen should help Harris get in line for playing time next season! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. And this is part of the reason why CKW is an advocate for an early signing period lol Seriously though it's tough choosing a school. I hope Juan makes the best choice for him in the end! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. As far as these in-state games. I love them. They draw big IU crowds while giving us the opportunity to put road/neutral wins on our résumé. It supports in-state institutions. I think we should schedule as many games against IUPUI, IPFW, Valparaiso, Butler, ND, ISU, and Ball State as we can. Honestly, our players and coaches need to be ready to play against teams who treat playing against us as their Super Bowl. We are Indiana. We should expect every team to be gunning to knock us off, to be circling the game against us on their calendar. I don't care if it's November/December, these games are great practice for how the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament are as a top seed (which is the expectation at IU), as well as games against lower tier B1G schools.
  24. I was furious for the full 48 hours following this loss. It sucked all the texts I got from my non-Hoosier friends and my UK-alum younger brother. I went through every emotion including the typical "fire Crean" thoughts. Now with a clear mind, I am over the loss. We have a talented team. I hate the saying "we will be fine." We might not be. However, I like our team. This loss represents a huge opportunity. Are we going to use this loss as a learning experience that every single game needs to be treated like it's a tournament game? Or will it be business as usual? I am excited to see how this team responds. If the team does not respond and is poorly coached/prepared/motivated, we will take care of that after the season, whether that justifies the need for a coaching change or not. But until then, this team can be as good as it wants, or as bad as it wants. Many coaches have won with a lot less talent, is coaching the problem? Or is it our guys that do not have the right internal fire to win and are too distracted with that next step to the NBA? With UNC, L'Ville and Butler coming up, we will know very soon what this team is made of.
  25. If both us and UK were at seven wins there wouldn't be any doubt we'd play each other in the MCB. However, any SEC school will draw great in Nashville, and there are much more qualified B1G schools to play a top SEC school in the MCB. Last year was an anomaly because the B1G didn't have nine bowl eligible schools, so five win Nebraska got into the Foster Farms Bowl and we got a Tier 2 Bowl. This year the B1G is strong and we are likely the eighth school above Maryland at nine. Unfortunately that regulates us to a Tier 3 bowl game: Heart of Dallas versus C-USA, or Quick Lane versus ACC/MAC. I'm confident we get the Quick Lane Bowl. Maryland isn't going to draw well in either Dallas or Detroit. IU would draw the best crowd in Detroit out of the eligible B1G/ACC options. I know it's disappointing to play a MAC school, but IU/MAC is the best combination for attendance. From this Hoosier's perspective, we haven't won a bowl game since 1991, I'll take the win and above .500 record however we can, and shoot for a better bowl next season. Looking at the ACC standings, NC State and Wake Forest look to be our matches for Quick Lane. Would a rematch with Wake Forest be scheduled? NC State isn't likely to draw well in Detroit, so I could definitely see a MAC school instead. But NC State is an option should the ACC need to fill this game. I don't think we even get Foster Farms. Northwestern is above us in the standings and even if they lose to Illinois will have the H2H tie breaker against us. They won't be regulated to a Tier 3 Bowl so we can be elevated, especially if they get to five conference wins. Not to mention NW is an elite, national academic school that draws a decent sized portion of its student base from the West Coast. Makes for an intriguing matchup with a PAC 12 school.
