  1. The B1G West is wide open after Wisconsin. In a year Miles would have Purdue right there behind Nebraska and Iowa, at the level of NW. They'd probably better than us, Maryland, Rutgers and possibly MSU in the East after a year. Miles is that good. There's no way Miles goes to Purdue. Not only would they not pony up his budget for assistants and recruiting, they don't have near the facilities Miles is used to. No way Mitch Daniels signs off on that much of a spending increase.
  2. http://www.hammerandrails.com/2016/11/22/13716954/reports-rumors-purdue-close-to-hiring-les-miles I hope not as well! Miles is a Midwestern boy and would recruit very well at Purdue. Miles only goes to Purdue if he is given a sufficient budget to get the high quality assistants he wants. That is very dangerous. I am still skeptical, however. Just a few weeks ago Purdue fans were saying a deal for Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi was all but done.
  3. I hate ND as much as the next guy but the NCAA's concept of vacating wins is stupid. Unless a team physically cheated (stole a playbook, intercepted radio signals, bugged the locker room, etc.), you can't change history. I am also vehemently against taking away scholarships.
  4. Pur[emoji90] will try and make it a shootout. They have excellent pass blocking, it will be difficult to get a rush. In the B1G: First ranked passing attack, last ranked rushing attack. Last in each rushing attempts, rushing YPA, and rushing yards per game by more than thirty yards from the next worst B1G school. As good as their pass blocking has been, the metrics suggest Blough has been average: 49.8 adjusted QBR. He's passing less than 60%. And if IU fans are frustrated by Lagow's INTs, Blough has 19 of them. Really good test for our secondary. With how stingy our run defense has been against top rushing attacks, I doubt Pur[emoji90] even tries to run the ball. I'm starting the over/under on their team rushing at 45 yards. Save for Brian Knorr coming back and calling the defense leading to a complete meltdown of our secondary, we shouldn't have any trouble with this game.
  5. Good to hear we are looking for a '17 QB. I'm hoping we can flip Tyler Lytle.
  6. We'll agree to disagree then. I think we already have a capable QB in Lagow and two promising prospects in Ramsey and King who aren't ready yet. Btw, take a look at the 2014 QB recruiting class. A LOT of busts on that list. One of the few good ones is Clayton Thorson at NW. He was a top target of ours, Littrell was the lead recruiter, who obviously left for UNC.
  7. Actually, let me reword my post. Here's a fair question: who's an above average QB at another school that you would want as our QB? Some parameters: can't be a QB at a top program that a prospect would obviously accept an offer over us, had to be a three star recruit or less, can't be a senior or RS junior unless he's a transfer (reason: wouldn't want to sit behind Sudfeld). Someone we would have had a realistic shot at.
  8. QB mechanical issues are not fixed overnight. It would take a full offseason to fix his foot work at least So you want an accurate passer. That's fair. But at what cost? Sounds to me like you want a Nate Sudfeld every year. That's simply not realistic. Advanced metrics suggest Lagow is average-to-above average. I don't think you realize how difficult it is to recruit and develop a top QB in college football.
  9. OK, so what are your expectations for the QB position? An NFL draft pick that's a three year starter? If you're expecting a Sudfeld every three years ready to go, you better temper those expectations. Not even the top B1G/SEC teams have that. CKW reputation as a QB recruiter is going to come down to how good Lagow, King, and Ramsey are these next two years. CKW cannot afford for King and Ramsey specifically to be busts. Seth Littrell got us Sudfeld through some of his old Arizona connections. He also was big in recruiting Coffman. I think the loss of Littrell was bigger than most of us thought, but he wanted play calling experience so he had to leave. Worked out well for him as he's the head coach at North Texas, relatively close to where he's from in Oklahoma. He's going to be a P5 coach someday. So let's talk about Lagow and the numbers. He played very solid yesterday. He had an adjusted QBR of 79.2. His best game of the season. Lagow is currently tied for 48th in all of college football with a total QBR of 65.4. 50 is considered average, so Lagow is in the above average range. I'm super excited to see what Lagow will do next season after a full offseason in our program. He obviously has accuracy issues which stem from poor mechanics. I'm sure the coaches realize this, but it was too much to fix from when we got him in the spring to the start of the season. He'll be a much better QB next year.
  10. I would love for the B1G to have some sort of balanced scheduling. My ideal scenario would be for the B1G to have a big pod, little pod division structure. Basically two pods of 4, two pods of 3. A pod of 4 combines with a pod of 3 to form a division. Each year the pods of 3 switch with each other. This alignment would create a balanced schedule while allowing rivalries to stay intact. Each school would play each other at least biennially. All of this while staying within NCAA rules for divisions.
  11. Absolutely, but you're crying over split milk. The mistake was made, Wilson recruited King, Ramsey and Lagow; you have to give him the proper amount of time to see if he fixed the problem. It's too early. Btw, you're also stating a problem that 85% of teams in college football have: a QB problem.
  12. I hate this flawed argument. This has been discussed time and time again on this board. Wilson took full responsibility for the QB fiasco of 2014. That is not something that is fixed overnight. We tried to get Chad Kelly as a JUCO transfer, he didn't want to sit behind Sudfeld. We got the top JUCO passer next year, Lagow. We brought in a couple of grad transfers for visits (which is demographic CKW typically doesn't recruit), they weren't any better than what we already have. We landed King and Ramsey. You can't expect freshmen to be able to contribute this quickly. We won't know whether CKW truly fixed the QB problem from 2014 until next year with the progress of King and Ramsey. I also think a full offseason in our program for Lagow will help a lot.
  13. Perfectly played first half for us outside of the blocked punt. No problem with conservative play-calling at the end of the half. We will get the ball. Luce, you still alive up there in Ann Arbor? Haha[emoji1] I know you're repping us well!
  14. Thoughts so far: - great use of Camion on offense so far. Need to continue to find ways to get him the ball. - Oliver and Covington are filling hard, solid play so far from the D. There are some holes in the run defense but we are tightening down nicely. Bend but don't break. - O'Korn doesn't look comfortable, could be a liability for Michigan
  15. I don't think the weather will affect Lagow. Look at the NFL: Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger, teams look for big QBs with strong arms who can play in bad weather. Lagow is in this same mold at 6'6" 240 with a rocket arm. He's built for this weather. Granted he's a Texas boy, so there might be an adjustment to the wet northern cold. However, I don't think his arm strength will be affected, nor will his accuracy get much worse given his hand size.
  16. Finally a game topic. I don't know what's wrong with this week. Usually I go on the opponent school's SB Nation page to read a preview from the opponent's point of view. Maize N Brew just posted their preview this hour. I think we have the right formula to win this game. We held Barkley to less than two yards per carry. If we can contain Michigan's running attack, and put the pressure on O'Korn, we will have a chance. On offense: Can't turn the ball over! Need to try and run the ball and take shots downfield.
  17. I know IUBB is back and we aren't being given much of a chance this week, but where's the game discussion? I'm pumped for Saturday! Anything can happen!
  18. What do you mean by that? Over Potts? Nonetheless impressive list of offers
  19. Coach Frey is doing an outstanding job. Between Spriggs and Feeney, the offensive line recruits should be lining up to come to Bloomington.
  20. Heck, I'm from Baltimore and I thought Conklin was a better value than Ronnie Stanley. Different positions, but when you compare that Conklin is likely to be an All Pro RT, and Stanley is projected as an above-average LT, I'll take the All Pro RT. I think Laremy Tunsil is the best of the class, however. Many teams will regret passing on him...
  21. Very impressive stats as a true freshman in 2013 for Houston. Struggled and was benched in 2014. 2015 was a transfer/redshirt year.
  22. I think both Ricky Jones and Mitchell Paige will play at the next level. Hard to find tough nosed guys with high football IQs, who are aggressive to the ball and run crisp routes. Ricky reminds me a lot of Steve Smith Sr. and Paige has Welker/Edelman/Andrew Hawkins type qualities. I'm not sure if either Jones or Paige will get drafted, but they will sure bet get camp invites. With their versatility I could see practice squad invites.
  23. This one still stings the next day. Really thought we were going to win this one. Before the season this was the upset game I felt we had a really good chance to win.
