James Blackmon Declares
Walking Boot of Doom replied to Sam_Boger's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Won't this pretty much allow him direct contact with scouts? This doesn't seem like anything more than a search for more feedback. I can't imagine a world in which Blackmon is draftable at this time. -
(2016) SG Grant Gelon commits to IU

Were you an Indiana All-Star? I just think it's pretty ignorant to make blanket statements that you or others on this site could beat Gelon one-on-one. -

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and without knowing you, assume you didn't play for Indiana, nor were you an Indiana High School All-Star. My money is on Grant. -
UNC NCAA Allegations
Walking Boot of Doom replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
According to UNC beat writer Andrew Carter, the revised Notice of Allegations sent to UNC today by the NCAA no longer includes any reference to the football or men's basketball team. What. A. Joke. -

Indiana fans: "Crean needs to recruit in-state kids who will stick around all four years! They have high basketball IQ and know what it means to wear the Candy Stripes!" *Indiana signs Gelon* "Eh, Gelon doesn't look like he can contribute right away, he sucks" "I want Troy gone, he should just go to the NBA" *Indiana signs Freddie McSwain* "Eh, I'd rather have Troy back, this kid doesn't seem like he'll help the team" Me: *Slams head into wall repeatedly until numb* -

You'll see Crean is not the outlier you currently believe him to be -

So does that mean we can start calling it Izzoing after this offseason? Creaning seams to be a term limited to within our own fanbase. Other B1G programs are right on par with the number of transfers we've had. A lot of our perception of Creaning comes from the Matt Roth situation, which Beilein has done twice in consecutive years now, and the Movement and 2014 classes which had a lot of bad eggs. -

Actually said nothing about the NBA. Just said his shot is much better. Chill -

Watch freshman Troy versus junior Troy. Huge difference in his shooting ability. -

Good thing we've got Buckley! -
Eh, he did well enough to get some good looks from other teams. Good luck!

Declaring early for the draft
Walking Boot of Doom replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Marcus Lee was coached by Calipari for three years, but has to discuss his high school and AAU career in order to show a time he looked elite offensively. Hmm... http://espn.go.com/nba/draft2016/story/_/id/15277523/kentucky-wildcats-forward-marcus-lee-says-plan-enter-nba-draft-not-hiring-agent -

I don't think that'd be a very Crean like move. At some point, we usually see all 13 scholarship players, plus some walk-ons, contribute. Priller is one of the few examples I can think of of a scholarship player who wasn't injured not getting minutes at all. -

Josh Jackson committed to Kansas, so we don't have to play him twice, but we will have to play him once. Glad he's not going to MSU though. -
Troy Williams Decision
Walking Boot of Doom replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If the kid can keep his head on straight, and focus on his own development, plus end up on a team with veteran players who can help show him the way, Troy could be an extremely talented 6-man in a few years. It's really hard to imagine him ever being a starter in the NBA, but I'd love to have him on my bench to provide a spark. Kid needs to enjoy his final few weeks at school, but better take advantage of the facilities and coaching staff while he has it if he wants to perform well at the combine. All the stories of partying don't bode well for his ability to impress scouts next month. -
Duke also begged Thornton to reclassify so that they could have a PG this year. The family definitely should have done a better job evaluating his readiness for college, but this is definitely an issue with the one-and-done recruiting model. Even if someone doesn't perform their best in year one, there's already someone else coming in the next year to replace them.

It'll be nice to see a Hoosier stick around for a while. We haven't had a whole lot of NBA success with EG fighting so many injuries. -

This past season, plus Thomas Bryant returning, are huge wins for Crean. Things seem to finally be going his way. -

TOMMY BRYANT BABAY -
It'd be nice to be able to trust that Indiana will always find a way, but I'm going to say no thanks to Kansas' way of doing it (see, Cliff Alexander, Cheick Diallo). Those two really didn't end up adding much value for them in the end either. They've had a few various run-ins with NCAA eligibility issues lately, and I just find it odd when that seems to happen multiple times to the same team. Seems like they're playing with fire. They've been extremely successful though. Players like Selden sticking around has been huge for them.
