That is true but if Woody really believed the other approach was better it seems as if we would have more players ready to fill those roles already on the roster or coming in for next year. Last year it was not a given that TJD would be back so I would have assumed he would have started to change our structure as early as the 2022-23 season. I am not trying to trash Woody with these questions but it seems to me we could have already been doing more with this 4 out 1 in set up unless he has not been able to recruit the kids for this.

Woody did say he could not coach that way was because of TJD though right?

Coaching Changes Nationally

What about Purdue? Wasn’t he on Painters staff? Not that they are comparable -
Why could Woody not have coached a 4 out 1 in with TJD? Does the 1 in typically not the best offensive player?

Any chance we can find an offensive menace or at least a rebounding menace.

I like trey but when teams press I was not as comfortable with him handling the ball. With X and Cupps we are pretty good but if either go down for a few games I like depth at ball handling positions.

Legendary place.

I think this is fair but also think it is a mid pack team in the BT. Really think we need to add another top scorer, big and outside shooter.

Does Trey have the extra covid giving him 2 more seasons after this

2023 General Recruiting Thread (BBall)
8bucks replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Are there any 2023s we have been watching? Some kids will be available late and we have had success with this but just wondered if there were any current front runners -
Ballard has been very good with mid, late and the undrafted but has not been good enough at finding difference makers in the early rounds. Had hope all All Pro guys last year showed a turning of a corner here. But it seems they have quickly faded. at the end of last year I thought all blame was on Wentz and of course Frank. Too many slow starts and limited post season success combined with all those all stars suggested Frank was the issue. this off-season though showed major issues with Ballard. Fans and reporters saw the holes and sure we can be idiots but his condescension about these areas being fine while letting vets walk and not signing free agents at WR or offensive line have placed him on the hot seat as well. putting Sam in was necessary because while we could have maybe backed into the postseason few would feel great about the future. Let’s we what Sam has. He may not be better than the top 2 QB prospects but he might prove to be better than the bottom 3=5.

Game Thread: Indiana vs. Nebraska (10/1) 7:30 p.m. EST on BTN

If we basically lose out, lose bad to PU and they go bowling he will probably be fired. -
We are kind of at that stage where on court performances will dictate the momentum of our recruiting. Arch had an ok start but could not prove it on the court. wheels fell off quickly Crean had an ok start, might have been a really good start had Mo not gotten hurt. Got recruits, had success, got the movement, could not maintain success. Wheels fell off woody has had a very good start but thus year we have to take a leap AND we need hopefully for some of the young guys to be the clear next wave of success. But we have to start showing what kind of program we are.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
8bucks replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
When we had Romeo and on offense Archie would have him stand in the corner without the ball for 5 to 10 seconds most every “play” told me a lot. I could understand if you have a true center, he may not get the ball some as he works the post. He could have had him roam the baseline ala Will and that would have been something. No, Archie chose to have him stand to the side and called that offense. Rob not developing may have hurt, Archie’s recruiting weakness did hurt but to me this Romeo standing thing told me we had a major problem with our coach. -

My company was a corporate sponsor during the latter Crean and the Archie years and that gave us some “special” access to some things. There was this private practice they did for some sponsors Archie’s first yr and before we had a chance to meet him our rep spent a few minutes letting us know what to expect about him and his personality. While being warned about a lack of personality our rep thought he was just a basketball geek and that would make up for it. I met him a few times and he always seemed awkward. Once he was there with Yeagley and a softball coach. Now Yeagley is a huge name here but you would have thought he would have recognized he was the freakin IU basketball coach and showed some enthusiasm. The softball coach was far more engaging. none of that would have mattered if he could win. Sadly he could not. -
B10 Expansion Poll (GEO/Market/TV): Part 1.5

Money. By adding Stanford we do not gain more TV access in Cali that we won’t have with the additions of USC and UCLA.
