I worked for the HT for several years and occasionally would get to hear some of these stories from Bob Hammell. Usually those were much shorter versions and certainly not as many stories as this collection is providing. I am going to be driving back to Indy for Thanksgiving and wondering if I can wait till then to listen. Will only have the dog and I for 10 hours of that trip so this would be great to listen to but I may not be able to wait that long.

It is so good. Honest and heartfelt. Glad to hear there is more.

Wondering if he is wanting to watch us play a little more now that TJD is gone. Woody has said he preferred a different style so I could see him waiting to see what that looks like. -
About the only thing i could take away was that the colts made the right decision in moving on from Frank. Carolina was 7-10 last year and they got to choose first in the QB derby and yet they sit at 1-7 this year.

A friends wife posted this and I thought I would share. Most people have their favorite game or moment of Coach Knight. Some people disliked him, and some people loved him. I personally have fond memories of the man. I grew up around IU Basketball and the Knights because my dad was the IU Golf Coach, and they were best friends. Personally, one of my favorite memories was when Coach was having dinner with us. I saw my upcoming date driving up the driveway, and coach said “where are you going Kelly?” I told him I had a date, and to my horror, he made me go to my room and wait. He proceeded to go downstairs and meet that teenage boy at the door to completely intimidate him before letting me leave my house. Needless to say, that boy was in shock! Coach was amazing… I loved him and his family. I’m sorry for my dad who lost his best friend today. Sending my love and hugs to his son Patrick and his wife Karen. Here are some outtakes from Golf Your Way, a golf show he did with my dad. It is hysterical! Of course, the outtakes come with a language warning! I also recommend finding and watching the Feherty interview with Coach Knight! https://youtu.be/Av6Mu8aLkio?si=wu99-Dp-RKmO_jLN https://youtu.be/_mC_sdTC4ww?si=4pmZn_9ZAw5twTJs

My cousin's Grandmother had given him her season tickets and he was as big an IU fan as there is. The university once stepped in and tried to keep him from renewing the tickets and based on his teacher salary he would not have been able to see many games if he had to buy individual tickets. Coach stepped in and made sure he did not lose these tickets.

My Dad used to put together these scrapbooks for his co-workers when they retired and would get pictures and contact coaches from their favorite college to see if they could add a quick note. He did this for years but unfortunately, after 35 years with his company, his entire group was let go and he never had an opportunity for someone to make a scrapbook for him. So I thought, what the heck, and sent a letter to Coach to see if he would be willing to send my Dad a short note. This was shortly after Coach had started to work at Texas Tech (interestingly the address for him at TT was on Indiana Avenue). I knew sending this request was a long shot but I thought it was worth the effort. I mailed the letter on a Monday and a return letter from coach arrived within the week. Now I know a staffer may have done most of the work but there were some comments in the letter that made you realize Coach had some input. One of the comments my Dad liked was how Coach compared their dismissals and recommended my Dad look out the front window and not the rearview mirror. I remember looking at the dates and thinking that the return letter probably went out the same day they got the letter from me and for some reason that was something that really stood out to me. Coach also sent me a short letter letting me know he had sent a letter. I did not do a full scrapbook for my Dad since the letter when directly to him but my Dad hung that letter on the wall for years and he often wondered how Coach thought to write to him.

(C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA
8bucks replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think this highlight reel is pretty good. It shows both the promise and the problems but in the end he ended up with 18 points vs UConn last year. Kel'el Ware vs UConn 11.24.22 | 18 pts (6-8 FG, 2-3 3pt, 4-6 FT), 9 Reb, 1 Blk, 2 TO - YouTube So I would not say he is a massive project but it is fair to say Woody needs to find a way to get more or the potential and less of the problems. Good that we have a lot of depth with Sparks and Malik as needed so we can be patient -

I was pretty critical of prior staffs getting more consolation prizes that primary targets. This staff may get more "almost" commits from higher ranked kids than prior staffs but a miss is still a miss. That being said, we currently have just 2 PGs on the roster right? What is a better strategy, to swing after the top PG in BF and miss but end up with the #15 PG or to go after someone in between to be safe? The latter may get you a higher rated player most of the time but is that enough to move us further in the tournament than what we have done? What if the strategy is to go after the top 1 to 2 players/position every year like we did this year with LM, BF and DQ. If we end up with just 1 but we back fill the 2 we miss with 4* kids and still have a chance to bring in portal kids where we have been strong the last 3 years i think that can still lead to more success. Eventually though, we probably need to hit on more than one of the top 20 kids/year if we want to compete with programs that have been doing that. I am good with Davis and continuing to look at portal kids in the spring. -

Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!
8bucks replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I tend to agree that he does not have enough coaching experience to make the jump to HC for IU. The right guy trumps having a character that i may or may not appreciate. ARE's twitter timeline seems a lot like Tony Dungy's timeline. They follow Christ and are not ashamed to share. The thing that made Dungy great as a coach was he could passionately believe, live out his faith but could lead others whether they believed as he did or if they did not. That would be the question for any leader, Christian or not. Things we do not know about ARE right now is how he is with all the players he is charged with leading. IF he proves to be a great teacher, coach and leader of men he could become a great head coach one day. Probably the only thing that I think would disqualify someone would be a belief in the greatness of Purdue. -

Understandable but one man's approach to living his faith in his work is not going to be the same as the next guy. -

New information I got recently suggest there's a window of opportunity for Taco John's and La Poblana to make their move and surpass Taco Bell in Bloomington IN. It's a little more wide open than initially thought. All three places expected to make their final pitch this week. Some info coming in that Taco Bell messed up an official visit somehow early Saturday morning -

There is just no way IU would consider it. Other schools sure but not IU. -

I never saw what he said only that it was racist/homophobic/misogynist etc. Today these terms can be applied even if the comments are marginal, but since he walked away from the job and has not been back in the booth yet either I assume he definitively said some things that a school like IU would distance themselves from. -
I know the staff emphasizes getting the right fit and people who want to work the tails off but I had hoped we could bring in some people like that in the top 25. Still time for sure
