  1. Or maybe to say definitively no so he can move on to plan B.
  2. This is a good point. If we are thinking NBA guy the timing for those will make this unlikely. Sure they could talk behind the scenes but that is a very long gap.
  3. Later in the thread it said it happened in the second half. If it happened in the first half did he play in the second half
  4. One of the reasons why even roster spots at the end of the bench are important.
  5. Wow. That is terrible for him.
  6. I get why folks might think he accepts mediocre basketball but I don't think we can draw that conclusion yet. I honestly thought Crean had turned a corner last year after JBj got hurt. Seemed he changed his recruiting to some extent, changed to a more comfortable game attire and I thought he also found a way to get the guys to play D. I think in retrospect he just rode the back of a more determined Yogi. There were good reasons to make a change right before Bryant committed but a change wasn't made. That was really the best time to make a change AND yet be able to say Crean had had plenty of time to turn this around. I highly doubt Glass went through without doubts himself and even though he did not pull the trigger I think the promise of Bryant is a understandable reason for deciding not to make a change then. The right decision? Probably not but that alone does not prove Glass accepts mediocre results. Combine that with the donations for the Assembly Hall renovation and the Cuban technology money and the pause makes some sense. Now, if we extend Crean without a final four run then I accept the premise.
  7. Fair point
  8. Alex Bozich who always seemed a Crean apologist seems to also have moved to at least a neutral position on Crean. The tide is turning. Not surprising on htd or HH, wonder if StLouis Something or other ever changed his mind.
  9. Who was that mod - trying to remember
  10. So is the "they" coaches or people in the administration or are they hard to differentiate
  11. Someone call Archie and let him know tonight is an interview of sorts. If he loses he is out of consideration. I will probably only get to watch them once this year so he needs to be impressive
  12. You make a call to Stevens not because we think IU is better than the Celtics or that Bloomington has more to do than Boston. For many those things do not compare. You call Stevens because you hope that the relationship between college coach and kid is deferent than in the NBA. You hope that the fact that Stevens sent Andrew Smith a skid of Gatorade when he was in the hospital fighting for his life shows how valuable that is to him. You call Stevens because you think he values family more than success. I travelled to the final four Several years ago with someone who had been with Stevens the day before. They told me he was anxious about moving his family to Boston from the Midwest. You hope that maybe returning home has value. You obviously call because you think he can coach but you don't let the fact that he is in Boston dissuade you because you hope Indiana can provide him things that are important to Stevens the man. And he can coach pretty well
  13. Why do you think that?
  14. Heard Mike Decourcy on the radio on way home. They were talking about Pitt and how they thought Dixon was not good enough even though he went to the NCAA tournament something like 10 out of 13 yrs. he said that sounds pretty good about now especially for Pittsburgh. They have no real history and no recruiting base. He then went on though to say that at Pittsburgh that is good enough but at places like Indiana, going to the tournament 10 out of 13 years and no final fours is would probably not be considered good enough. Not with the history and recruiting base Indiana has. Most of the discussion was on schools like Pitt and Texas and whether their coaching changes were good ideas. The Indiana comment was just something he mentioned off hand but for those who think Indiana fans are delusional about high expectations and our capabilities - Decourcy sees it the same way.
  15. Another way to look at it is to ask would you be interested in hiring Crean for another 5 years? Because this summer or next he has to get extended or removed. So if you extend is he a home run hire? No, so why all the pressure to hit a home run for his successor? The program is in very good shape overall. The only question is coaching. Let's say you bring in Chris Holtman. It is unlikely we finish in the bottom of the BT three years in a row. If he essentially keeps us in our current position and never gets past sweet 16 in say 5 years then you have to ask again, is this who we are now? Maybe that answer is yes but I think with our resources and the overall shape of the program getting a Crean equivalent is not that hard. Taking a few swings to try and find someone who is better is not going to hurt the program any more than letting apathy develop.
  16. The talking heads always promote the HC even when the Syracuse and UNC news broke you have the announcers praising the coaches all game. They get inside info to help during broadcasts from the HC and that helps during games. The talking heads also are made up of slot of fired HCs and they protect their own regardless.
  17. This also is a way to keep the media on your side and not calling for your head.
  18. Exactly. That is kind of success Crean needs to have in order to eventually win a championship. Guys that regularly bring teams capable of winning can eventually break through. Sporadic appearances won't get it done.
  19. Completely agree but I would trade their success for ours under Crean. Better to recruit better and have a consistent top tier team than to recruit inconsistently and top out at an occasional sweet 16.
  20. Sean has consistently been a top 15 team. That makes him different than Crean as well.
  21. I had a full leg brace that had a hinged knee joint. It might have been locked at the knee before surgery. I can't remember but it was full leg. I also had meniscus damage and some other problems in there besides the acl
  22. I had a full leg brace that had a hinged knee joint. It might have been locked at the knee before surgery. I can't remember but it was full leg
  23. If OG tore the ACL would he still be a lottery pick. I assumed he would fall out which is to bad for him
  24. More on Colts. Not saying it is true but it follows the idea we talked about yesterday https://bluehqmedia.com/2017/01/17/breaking-the-real-behind-the-scenes-story/
  25. I don't think you should do that.
