  1. After the rebuild his recruiting has been good but not great considering he is at Indiana. Unbalanced classes and unbalanced rosters have really hurt his teams. Considering he is at Indiana has he recruited better than his peers (Duke, UNC, Louisville, MSU, etc...)? Can he ID some diamonds in the rough? Sure but a lot of times we end up with just the rough. If you want to say he is great at finding diamonds in the rough I would argue less, but a great recruiter he is not.
  2. I think that shows how bad things are. Someone chooses Alaska over covering Indiana Basketball
  3. Any thought on Dana Altman?
  4. I suspect Duke will have a hard time not having a Dukie take over when K retires.
  5. I love Dickie V but put no stock in who he thinks is a great coach because to him, they all are
  6. So if you get down past your top tier guys and are choosing between Marshall and a guy like Archie Miller the likelihood for a championship under Archie is just as unknown. Not saying I prefer one over the other but if cannot lure one of the big fish we may be fishing in a pond with some uncertainties. Do you go with an up and comer who has not been on the big stage long or do you go with a guy that will get you into the tournament just about every year. Arguments can be made for both.
  7. When considering Marshall's post season record you start first with a consistent winner during the season. He regularly gets his team to the postseason. That is probably the biggest difference between him and Crean. I think he is an obvious upgrade from a consistency basis. Even Creans time at Marquette was inconsistent whereas Marshall has been the opposite
  8. I would be interested to know if we go to the weave quickly or only if we don't have a clear quick transition bucket. To me it seems we look for the quickie and if that is not there then it seems we get into the weave. I agree with you though about the wasted time in that thing. Used to get so mad that we waste quick bigs like Cody who could have used that time to make the D try to keep him from getting open in the post.
  9. Personally I thought it was interesting post with some good insight. I doubt that the 8-10 seconds of D was the entire game plan but was one of those key points to focus on. Have you ever seen our teams transition D after we just hit a shot? So many times we immediately give up a quick shot. If you can get your team convinced that if the guard like crazy for 8-10 seconds then they likely don't let us play fast and minimize the quick easy baskets. I also have to admit when we consider our players we do place a premium on the athlete vs the fundamentally sound kid. So maybe hearing it from an opponent would also be music Timmy ears and I might tend to be a little biased towards my thinking. Still though, it was interesting info from Old Friend and it definitely seems your first response to him mdn led to his response.
  10. My question - why would anyone watch that.
  11. No but a couple years back when we hit a spell like this and the seat got hot a couple articles came out that seemed to be written by Crean himself. Just wondering
  12. Who are the reporters that usually get info straight from IU? Is Goodman on that list?
  13. Sounds right. I would have argued that Crean needs to be extended or relieved around 2 -3 years out. That corresponds to Millers timing. If this team and next year early on they shown some signs of life then Glass could always buy a year and extend him for 1 year initially. I am not necc on board with that but we are definitely in that window. I had been thinking there were only two choices - extend or relieve but as with Miller in 2015 Glass could simply defer for a year. I am not suggesting that Miller was only extended 1 year because of doubt, as with Crean, but simply that a 1 year extension could also be in play here.
  14. So in 2015 his contract would have expired in 2018-19 but was extended 1 year so the expiration would have been 2019-2020. So when he was three years out it looks like contract talks started and then perhaps they pushed things out 1 more year. You could argue that the Pitt thing accelerated it. Now he is 2 years out and he was extended. How far out does coach Creans contract go?
  15. Any idea when his previous contract was set to expire? Curious as to how far out from expiration some coaches are extended
  16. Agree. If we don't bounce back in a big way this year, which will be difficult given our schedule, then Glass needs to consider making that change this year. Another year of this, heck even a poor finish down the stretch, and the crowd will turn fully against him. We saw some of this a couple of years ago and when the fans don't think their opinion is being considered the boos will become louder. Crean does not deserve that which makes me think that we make a change this year - unless we make a big run down the stretch.
  17. Good point. I know many thought last years turn around was a sign of good things to come. This years struggles show that was not the case. I also am not that dependent on guys who do not watch our games regularly to make a decision on whether Crean is the right coach. These guys may know basketball but they are not there watching us repeat the same mistakes game after game. They are not watching us turn the ball over at such a high rate. They look at last nights win and think "wow gritty performance without JBj, OG and Colin" but they don't look at PSUs roster to see they have little to fear. They don't endure a close game loss and think back to the numerous times that Crean pulled our hottest player because it was his preplanned time to come out. They don't pay close enough attention to see there is a pattern and even though we may reach a top 5 ranking during the season we cannot finish past the sweet sixteen. Cuban does not have the time or interest to follow us that closely. I doubt he sees more than a couple of games a year. Someone will probably suggest Glass watches closely and has not made a change. If we do not advance past the sweet sixteen before he extends Crean then I will change my mind on him (Glass). I think he had one realistic time to make a change and I think he was very close (year before Bryant).
  18. That is because I did not make my point very well. Our shorthandedness was not really an issue against PSU. They played fewer guys than we did and of the 9 guys who played I think 4 were freshman and these 4 played a lot of minutes.
  19. PSU played fewer guys than us and have three or four key freshman.
  20. We actually played very good free throw defense. They were like 17 of 30.
  21. Guess we are keeping the Purdue game off the air. That is good
  22. Especially at this point in the year. This is often when people start saying freshman are not freshman anymore based on the amount of time and number of games played.
  23. That was a nice bright spot. Seeing how beat up he was after we escaped with a win last year I was glad for him tonight. I like his game as well.
  24. Would it be bad form for us fans to plan a nice big going away party now for Crean? You know kind of a "thanks for cleaning this mess up and good luck at ___________" We could rent billboards and airplanes with banners and maybe do some commercials. Make it a classy thing where we just assume he will be gone and we wanted to make sure we had time to say thanks first.
