  1. I don't hate them, I feel sorry for them.  They call us little brother but no one outside of Indiana knows where they are and no one outside of W. Lafayette gives a crap.  Their inferiority complex has them chanting "IU sucks" even if they're facing Eastern Western A&M Tech in a water polo club match.  To make themselves feel like they matter, ever, they'll steal Little 5 and This Is Indiana.  If they suck in football they don't care because they're a basketball school, if they suck in basketball they don't care because suddenly they're a football school.
  2. So much this.
  3. Reading the names thrown out in those comments...yikes.  Anthony Grant, Brad Brownell, Lickliter, Keno Davis.
  4. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison.  I can understand bigger name coaches not wanting the job at the time but the program is in a better position now than it was.
  5. Those concerns would follow pretty well any coach that isn't Stevens or coming from a major program (ala Donovan before he left Florida).  We didn't know if Crean could recruit at this level either.  Marshall would undoubtedly have more resources here than he has at Wichita State though.  Has he had problems with off court issues?  Does he graduate players?  I genuinely don't know because I don't follow WSU.   Marshall isn't a homerun hire certainly wouldn't be my first choice, but I do think he'd be an upgrade.
  6. If Rey wanted to make an appearance I'd bring a truck load of canned goods.
  7. He's not ready.  Our former players are either not ready (Fife, Cheaney) or just not good coaches (Alford).
  8. No one outside of his family really knows for sure though.  We're all just speculating one way or the other, and there's only one way to find out for sure.   We do know he grew up idolizing Bob Knight and IU.  We do know that, at least at one point, IU is/was his dream job.  He would have the chance to walk the same sidelines as a coach he idolized and breath life into the program he grew up watching.  That would have to tug on the heart strings.  If it's true that he has an out in his contract for this job, and I've heard that before, then that doesn't sound like the door is completely closed.
  9. I wouldn't consider him a homerun hire but he's won consistently everywhere he's been. He's older than Crean though and his tourney success isn't much different.
  10. I remember early on people were saying the first year shouldn't be held against him, and I was okay with that, then it seemed like all of a sudden it jumped up to 3.
  11. If you don't think anyone could've done better with the third team then I couldn't possibly disagree more.  That team underachieved; they weren't a tourney team but they were definitely better than 12 wins.
  12. Just because he made it doesn't mean he's the player you want taking that shot, and he's not the player you want taking that shot because saying shooting isn't his strength is an understatement.
  13. I hope Troy leaves regardless.  I'm not sure there's any such thing as a non-awful Troy jumpshot, even a lot of his "layups" or "running hooks" are nothing more than out of control garbage he throws up and gets lucky it goes in.
  14. I was on campus at the time and even though I wanted Davis gone I still tried watching every game.  Now, it doesn't bother me if I miss the game because it's been a while since I can say I really enjoyed watching Indiana play.
  15. I wouldn't say he's the worst coach in the B1G, but he's a far cry from the best.
  16. Where?  China?  Let him.  I hope he does, Anunoby as a freshman is better than Troy as a junior.
  17. Williams should have an incredibly short leash.  His only redeemable "skill" is jumping, and if it's not jumping he has little to no business trying.
  18. That alone does not equate consistency.  We should be in the top half of the B1G every season, with most of those being contenders for the conference.  We should expect to regularly be contenders nationally.  We should be one of the teams where they say "making the tournament for the 10th year in a row".  That is consistency
  19. Mike Davis can say he won a B1G title too, and over his career he's actually won more conference titles than Crean has.
  20. That doesn't make you anyou more of a true fan than someone that doesn't think a guy that, by your own admission, hasn't won anything in 17 years can cut it at this level.
  21. Well, a team recruited by one of the best coaches the game has ever seen that got hot at the right time carried him to a national title game.   Cheaney, not even close to ready.  Fife, not ready.  Alford, may actually be worse than we've currently got.  Frankly, none of our alums in coaching are desirable; they're either not ready or not good enough.  Stevens grew up an IU fan, idolizing IU and Bob Knight, and was in the stands when RMK threw the chair (and thought it was awesome); he's as close to a true Hoosier as it gets without being an alum.   Sure, we're contending right now but Crean's teams fade in late February practically every season.
  22. Uh, Stevens went to two straight national title games with Butler's resources and the guy can flat out coach basketball.  A coach of his caliber with the resources of IU is a great combination for IU fans, and a bad one for everyone else.  He's also the perfect fit here and not doing everything possible to get him home should be a fireable offense in and of itself.
  23. I'm not a Colts fan either.  I don't have a favorite NFL team.  I'm just a fan that grew sick and tired of the non-stop ball washing and being made to be the best thing in the history of anything; people only drop to their knees like that for one other person and he's can't get a job in the NFL.
  24. I usually pull for the AFC, but in this case go Panthers.  I've never liked Manning either.
  25. Buss has been close to a triple double so many times.
