Not saying it’s the same, but being patient in letting a coach bring in a new culture and do things their way should be allowed. I don’t see some amazing turnaround in basketball, but all the doom and gloom is ridiculous to me. Just my opinion, that’s all it is.

Really appreciate your response and I actually agree. I’ve been a little disappointed with how the recruiting has gone and with assistants, so I totally get that. I’m not saying you aren’t, just speaking for myself, but I’m choosing patience for this coach who gets a lot out of the talent he acquires. I don’t see missing the tournament this year as a failure at all. I really think we need to be patient and see how things shake out on the court. We have a good basketball coach, finally, and I think we will like what we see. Don’t forget, Coach stated he won’t sacrifice his culture for talent, which is a complete 180 than Woody. I’m not saying he will be Painter, but if he builds his culture and gets the players that fit it, good chance we can have similar results, which I think we would all take in a heartbeat.

Appreciate you! You always need different opinions to create an awesome message board, but it’s the relentless negativity (or even over positivity) that hurts and drives people away.

I said it was okay to be critical and discuss, but some people post negative comments non-stop at anything Coach Devries does. I have no issue with people complaining, but it shouldn’t be 24/7 with every little thing. I think people are letting their dislike for the hire persuade this entire offseason. I don’t understand why we can’t give a guy more time who completely turned around a Drake program and was doing it at WV in year 1. IU needs a culture reset from how things were ran for the last 10 years. Let Coach bring in his players, build his culture with the foundation he wants, and let’s go win ball games. I don’t think people quite understand how good of a job he did at Drake and WV.

This is the reason why I have stopped posting over the years. Some of you all are insufferable! We could land a top 5 recruiting class and it still wouldn’t be good enough. I think it’s funny that things have been tight lipped with our coaching staff, but yet people seem to know we are missing on almost everyone. Have a surprise, only ONE team gets that recruit. IU is not as exciting as it once was for recruits. Yes, they may know that we have history, but a quick google search shows how bad we have been for the last 10 years. It’s okay to be critical, I get it, but some of you probably would complain because he breathes air. If a recent top school goes after the same recruit, guess what, they are gonna have a better chance than us. Coach Devries needs to build a culture from the ground up, and I want him to do it the right way. I would rather him get the foundation set now to set us up for consistent success, not scramble every year. Coach Cig turned us around in one year through toughness, grit, and a culture reset. Why can’t we give Coach Devries the same chance to do so? Some of you are ridiculous with the constant negativity and coach bashing.

Welcome aboard (back aboard) Mr. Kenny Johnson. He helps in the recruiting department and was considered a top assistant at one point. If he can get us in with really good talent then let’s go! Might not be a hot name but it makes sense. Help get recruits to Coach and let it role from there. Go Hoosiers!

Haven’t posted really since the announcement, but while I get people are upset with some of the recruiting recently, I feel we need to be really patient. IU has struggled for the last 8-9 years, and while the portal can have quick fixes, I honestly don’t think it’s a do or die situation if we make the tournament in CDD’s first year. It would be nice, but I want CDD to build this program to his standards, because he has shown to be successful in doing so. As we’ve seen the last couple of years, just getting the “top” portal players means nothing! CDD needs to build his culture, and I’m perfectly fine if it takes a year or two. I’m not being complacent, I just want this program to be set up for sustained success. If CDD feels the portal doesn’t yield that and brings in a good high school recruiting class, I’m all for that! Let things play out because I think we are going to be very happy with Coach!

Oldest son has been begging me to get him out to fish. Glad he’s getting that itch to go. From last year.
