HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. -- Scout shot game footage of Indiana receiver target Eddie Lewis.

Eddie Lewis, the top uncommitted receiver in New Jersey, is being recruited hard by Indiana, which already extended an offer, and he is looking at a postseason official visit to campus. In the meantime, Scout was out to see Lewis, the East's No. 9 receiver, in action recently as Middletown (N.J.) Mater Dei play at Highland Park.

Lewis, who is 6-foot, 172 pounds, is improved as a route runner, and take the first play (in the game cut-ups at the top of the page) as an example. He heads in toward the safety as if he is going to block, and then accelerates out of a break for a wide open score after the safety bit up on a run possibility.

The conditions at the game were bad -- strong wind, rain -- but Lewis made a couple of nice grabs in which he showed his strong hands. He caught the ball and was able to tuck it away. Even on a slick field, Lewis showed he could stop and start quickly, and his change of direction was a plus.

On the third play, Lewis needed to come out of his break with the same energy he went into it, but he did a great job of going to meet the ball instead of waiting for it. He was also unselfish in the running game as several of his blocks sprung big plays.

One other thing to think about? Lewis looked quick and read the play well from his safety position, and he has the hip flexibility to play cornerback. He is projected as and being recruited as a receiver, but do not rule out cornerback as a college position.
