I give Crean one edge: he does recruit kids from Indiana. Not all the players, but more than Davis did. It doesn't matter who you recruit at IU as long as you win-win-win. But when you don't, you'd better have some native sons on the floor or be looking for employment. Davis was never able to do that, Thad Matta was always taking the Indiana kids from him. Much like Izzo and Beilein seem to be doing to Crean.

That doesn't mean I didn't love D.J. White in a Hoosier uni.

Since 2000, how many Final Fours do you think IU would have if it could have capitalized on it's in state talent? (Hypothetically we also had a competent coach)

Can someone compare side by side Crean and Davis? More than just W/L's but any other similarities.

They both won the B1G, Crean has other 1 conference title and Davis has 2.  They've both gotten past the Sweet 16 once, in 15 and 14 full seasons respectively.  Crean has gotten to the Sweet 16 two other times, aside from those two their resumes are eerily similar.

 

Davis has been coaching his way down the ladder though, Crean can't say that.
