Blake pitched for the Hoosiers from 2009-2011 and was selected in the 12th round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft by Washington, playing two years in the Nationals’ organization. He is now playing in the Independent Leagues  w/the Evansville Otters that's not affiliated with MLB.

I know this guy, we went to the same high school.  He was drafted by the Yankees out of high school, then out of college he was drafted by the Nationals.

Thanks. They've got a heck of a coach at South Spencer. His oldest boys were our bat boys during legion ball. Wow, that makes me feel old, since they're both out of college now.

Love going to Otters games! They have had several players move on to affiliated leagues in the past few years.  Players come from all levels of baseball to work their way back into a MLB farm system.

 

My son has been the PA announcer for the past 5 years. He started while in college and has kept doing it after starting his journalism career.  He has been looking forward to this year.  This is Bosse Field's 100th birthday and there are several celebrations planned.  It is the 3rd oldest stadium still in use. Only Wrigley and Fenway are older.

 

Bosse Field was also the location of many of the scenes from "A League of Their Own".  The movie was filmed in Evansville and many of the surrounding communities.  I still remember driving by the house Madonna was living in and seeing the security guarding the driveway. My dad volunteered as one of the extras. I wish I had taken time to do that!
