Listed at 6'7" Sydney attends Ontario Christian HS in Ontario, CA.  And like with most of the '28 class there's not a lot out there about her in terms of detailed stats.   But she definitely has some excellent basketball genes as her mother is the former 1996 Ms. Basketball Maylana Martin of Perris and then UCLA and WNBA acclaim.  I believe she's playing AAU ball for FBC United West Coast on the UAA circuit.

Would be nice to think we could be a serious player in this recruitment.  She finally had a game I could watch an, 86-22 rout over Corona with her stats immediately above.  Have to take the stats with a grain of salt because at 6'7" she had at least 6" over anyone on the Corona team.  It was 56-17 at halftime and the entire second half played under a running clock.  Almost felt like her coach was just letting her pad stats because she played the entire 3rd Q and 5 min. into the 4th before checking out.  Granted it was a running clock, but this game was over at the end of the 1st Q when it was 33-9.  Other than when the ball went out of bounds, the officiating crew blew their whistles a collective total of 3 times in the entire second half!!

As for Bean as she is called, she is very skilled going coast-to-coast a couple of times, made 2-3 3's, and showed good agility for someone that tall and just a sophomore.  Not surprising that she's the #2 ranked player in the '28 class

In another "nail biter"  Centennial 91-30 win over King on Wednesday night.  33-9 lead after 1st Q and Bean already had 16p, 3r, 2s.  Running clock entire second half thankfully.  For the game:  33p,  7r,  5a,  1s,  0b, 0t      Once again she was at least 6" taller than anyone on the opposing team and rarely actually had to jump.  Team only had 7 players in uniform so she played into the 4th Q but really made little effort to actually be involved in the flow of the game.  Centennial now 11-3 on the season and hard to imagine how they lost 3 games because it's a very good team and not solely dependent on Bean's performance.  King's record now 19-7 and they got beat by 61 pts.!

Back-to-back games and a 65-54 win over Moreno Valley.  Centennial plays another game tonight for its third in 3 days.  With 3 min. left in the 1stQ, a scrum under the basket and Bean came out holding her hand and left the game.  Re-entered at the start of the 2nd, but left almost immediately after trying to catch a pass.  With 5 min. left in the 2nd came back in with what looked like some kind of glove on her left hand.  Finished the 2nd Q and played the entire 2nd half but clearly favoring her left hand.  Final stat line:  11p,  6r,  0a,  1s,  1b,  2t.  Tonight's game will also be streamed so I'll be able to see how much that hand bothers her tonight.

Mentioned the scrum in the above post and this from the Redlands Daily Facts -

Sydney Douglas remains sidelined with a finger injury suffered earlier in the week. X-rays revealed a compound fracture to the pinky finger of her non-shooting (left) hand.  “She’s going to see a specialist,” Huskies coach Matt Tumambing said. “We’ll see whether or not she’s going to need to have surgery.”
